  1. Beautiful Car, Fraychild! Is that the Inkblue color? I also wanted to ask about the OEM Ebay foglights... can you tell me how much paid for them? and installation? I'm in the planning stage of sprucing up my SE as well....
  2. I agree with you VegasEdge. The large vent theory sounds the most plausible. Surely enough the car cools fast enough, but the cold air pretty much scatters in all directions once it exits those large vents. The fact that you cannot direct the vents in all directions is pretty moot anyway since the force of the air coming out is so minimal. I'm sure eventually someone at Ford will see this thread if it keeps growing, and we'll see a completely redesigned vent system in the 2010 model.
  3. Where did you install the amp in the tire compartment? We took a look under there and saw very little room. Would you mind snapping a few pics of the compartment? I would love to be able to fit the amp in there. Thanks!
  4. Hi xtreme, Where did you mount that amplifier? is that the floor underneath the backseat? I had my stock speakers replaced with Kicker KS680's and now I'm looking for an amp that will fit under the rear seats without being crushed whenever they are in a flattened position. The installer looked under the seats when they were in this position, and noticed how the seat bottoms shift downward almost flush to the floor. He was afraid to put anything under there. He suggested I look for the smallest amp I could find (memphis, pioneer).
  5. Today I had a nice surprise. Took my 2008 FWD on a 300 mile trip. I measured the odometer at fill-up before the trip and recorded gallons purchased. Repeated the same when I re-filled at the end of the trip. Calculated the numbers and was very surprised to come out with 26 MPG! The miles were 95% highway / 5% city. I drove fairly conservatively averaging around 72mph on the highway. The kicker in all of this is my car had only 1100 miles on it at the beginning of the trip, still deep within the break-in period. Can't wait to see the improvement after 5000 miles. Ps. I inflated my tires to 41 prior to the trip.
  6. CorporateEdge: The inability to direct airflow on yourself leads me to believe you need to read the manual. (just kidding! Pokin fun at bbf2530 :happy feet:) I myself had a 5 hour drive during early afternoon today thru South Carolina. I was the only one in the car and fan speed on low would have been sufficient had I the ability to point the driver side vents at myself. I suppose I could stop whining and just take it to the service department, I've just been waiting for some sign from this thread that the problem is actually fixable. Has anyone actually gotten their dealership to look at it?
  7. Prinz, My comments were obviously directed at the one telling us all to "RTFM - Read the @#$%ing Manual", and not you or anyone else who were agreeing with the questionable power of the AC fan.
  8. I don't think some of you quite understand the complaint. Have you ever owned an import? If you've ever been in a late model Toyota, Acura, Honda, etc... no matter how many vents were in the car, you could crank it to max whenever you got into it (on a hot day) and instantly feel a blast of air in your face should you happen to have the vents pointing at you. Of course it may have taken a few seconds for that air to turn cold just like any car on a hot day, but nonetheless their fans could push enough air rapidly enough for you to feel a decent blast. Many owners here, including myself who live in hot states can barely feel the air even when set to high with recycle turned on. Sure enough, the car will cool just fine after a minute or two and yes once the car is cooled, it can maintain the temperature fine at low/medium to medium settings. The basis of the complaint is that (1) Ford made an AC barely adequate for the car for the number (and sizes) of the vents it installed. (2) The design of the vents means it's nearly impossible to aim the driver-side vents directly at the driver's face. I've heard this complaint in other posts and in different forums. You basically have to shift your head over 1/2 a foot to the right in order to feel the air. I got in a friend's FJ Cruiser today during lunch and was completely disheartened when he switched the Fan to Medium/High and I felt the blast from his vents. Yes I know an FJ Cruiser does not have rear vents, so this is not a great analogy. However, I've been in a friend's Acura MDX as well as a Toyota Highlander to know this argument doesn't hold water. Like I said, the Edge's AC will cool the car and maintain the temperature just fine, but it still shows that Ford has some work to do in polishing this gem. I think the consensus on this forum is that the majority of us love our Edge's. What we have here is constructive criticism that Ford needs to hear.

    MPG??????

I thought that for all things being equal .... engine, transmission, etc... that 3 things effect MPG the most: 1) Driving Style 2) Weight 3) Friction With #3 being effected by the tire size, there would seem to be no physical way a wider tire could get better MPG then one that was narrower.

    MPG??????

Just bought my FW Edge SE, and have been watching this thread for the past week. When people post their average MPGs, could you please post the size of your tires as well. I think it would be interesting to see the differences between the 17", 18", and 20" tires in regards to MPG. I specifically wanted the smaller tire for my Edge to squeeze out the most mpg out of it.
  11. New Owner of a 2008 Edge SE - Creme Brulee. So far I'm liking it very much (love is too strong a word this early in the relationship), however I have some nagging questions after my first afternoon driving her around. 1) I have the Reverse Sensing System and I can BARELY hear it. I traded in an F150 Lariat that had the same system, and audible alerts were very audible beeps, that simply went nuts as you got closer (solid tone). As I tested the system on my new Edge, I slowly backed straight in a parking lot (very slowly), when the first beep came, I could barely hear it, not to mention the sound seemed to be coming from the rear of the vehicle, and not the dash. Is this typical? Is this something I should have the dealership look into? Could the volume level of the system be adjusted somewhere? 2) The AC on the driver side is plain dismal. I'm in hot hot NC, and we're in the 90's daily with humidity topping the charts. When you get in the car you want that air blowing directly on your face. I can't seem to get the driver vents to hit me at all? Not to mention the strength of the airflow on high doesn't seem to compare to the passenger side vents. I saw an earlier post on this, but only one person seemed to agree with the poster. Certainly there are some owners on this board living in the hot states that could vouch that this is indeed a 'feature' of the Edge versus an anomaly. Any help on these 2 issues would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to know if I should be hitting up my dealer on these issues.
