  1. Good to know. Thank you. Pulled the trigger on the stuff to do the chain and pump. Hopefully the chain will be a good quality. Didnt buy ford. Not replacing phasers or sprockets. 160k they should be fine. But will inspect.
  2. I got that. I know what direction it is suposed to flow into there. But when? I am getting none. Can someone confirm.. It flows when cold and/or when warm? Higher engine rpms? I couldnt find any conversation on this on google or any videos showing it in a refill procedure.
  3. In short.. Is the small line suposed to flow all the time or before the thermostat opens? I ask because i had drained the radiator for some work. Many days long. I forgot to refill and ran the engine while i put tools away. Fan kicked on and i instantly remembered and shut it down. Filled the system. Doesnt over heat. No coolant in oil. Drives fine. I think i wipped out the pump fin's. But want to make sure i am not just paranoid. Come to find now that the chains aparently stretch and water pumps fail near the 200k mark. 160k on mine. If i pinch off the top radhose i dont get anything from the surge tank vent. No No heat from heatercore. Could be air bubble. Next chance i got i am thinking to pull the top rad hose and see if i get any movement.
  4. I am sure SCT doesn't endorse the edge tune on a mkx due to it still being a slightly different vehicle and they can not predict what will happen good or bad. liability. I would think the logic between the Edge and the Mkx is slightly different. vehicles have different intended markets. And of course the ECU will adjust for the drivers habits (to a point). When I first got mine, an old lady must have drove it and never used the power. from Torrie: Most approach me to increase power and later transmission function. While I can increase MPG I am not sure by how much since I have not focused on that one goal. I stock the SCT X4 with custom tune for $ 399 the 21mpg is per my gauge not something I have calculated. even then it feels off. in the city it is horrible mpg. my f350 dually feels like it gets better mpg. Ford USA needs to up their game. Ford Eu and other manufactures have been getting way better mpg for a long time.
  5. I have the same question. I asked a couple other tunner systems if they had anything for the edge.. they pretty much gave me the lip. I then ran into the SCT somehow. however like yall.. is it worth it? purchase unit and then still have to purchase a tune. How much is the tune? I am looking at MPG... this thing drinks gas! and I have the lincoln, which you think would be a tad better. My sister in law has a Hundia and it gets insane MPG all around. I get about 21mpg higway and 18city (not big city driving).
  6. Update... I ordered a FoMoCo unit from amazon I believe for a pinch more than the other brands. this time I removed the upper rad hose and while I was at it changed the fluid (probably original). removing the upper hose just makes it that much easier and less chance of breaking something plastic. after market units are slightly thicker also. I have the same diagrams. diagrams are kinda vague as to actual harness difference. how easy would it be to convert over. The OEM unit works so much better. Fans are still good on aftermarket system.. they will get rewired into a hot rod more than likely. :-) as far as the connectors.. Push them together, wiggle and push down on the release. sometimes a screwdriver gently at other end can help. Now that I think about it.. The aftermarketconnector that connects to OEM was not sealed on mine leaving it exposed to elements. :-(
  7. I replaced my fans just over a year ago after one of them decided to lock up. I bought a Dorman from what I can tell. Not sure as to why I did this, since everything I read.. is bad about the Dormans. lol Anyway, just over a year and my a/c starts blowing hot and car overheating. I am in florida so a/c and cooling are important. Behold the darn fans are not spinning. seems to time out after 10 or 20 min and not come back on. Went to autozoo and ordered a replacement module ($175), just to find out is completely different than the unit I installed in the car. :-( I am going to get a used fomoco unit on monday. If I can find my reciept for the dorman... I am contacting them. p.s. had no problems with it until now. AS far as the A/C.. the fans (no tow) or fan (tow/high ambient) should stay on and be Pulse width controlled by the PCM. Funny part about that diagram is that I dont remember there being a third wire for the PCM to the FCM. just power and ground. I would guess that the programming in the PCM is different for tow package, and possibly even the transmission. The Harnesses are different, and very expensive, about 6 versions (edge and mkx) that I can tell. I would like to see Ford answer this question we all seem to have. being in Florida, and towing a small boat once in awhile, I want to keep the rad cooler. Note: the module I got from Autozoo was a Duralast but the item in the box is labeled FoMoCo. :-)
