  1. I'll try to help. Is it that you can't find a 12V and ground to tie it into? Look at my first post, the fifth picture shows the tie into the cigarette lighter underneath the rear air vents. The piece pops off easily and you can splice into the wires and still have the outlet if you need it. Remember the cigarette lighters are on all the time so your DVD players must have their own on/off switch. If not, you can tie a switch into the 12V of the cigarette lighter and just run it outside of the plastic cover piece. That way when you want the DVDs off you can just flip the switch (in case you have young children that can't turn them off themselves). Let me know if this does not answer you question and I will try to redirect my answer. I haven't messed with the fuse box yet so I am not sure which fuses are hot constantly and which ones are ignition activated.
  2. I hated the old headrests. I am six four and they made me keep my head forward the whole time. The new headrests are great for comfort.
  3. As far as the in and out, it is held on by pressure clips so it literally pops off and pops back in with ease. Take a flat head, if you are worried about scratching cover it with a washcloth from the kitchen, ease it in behind the silver piece at the bottom about an inch, pull out and it should pop out. It is one big piece all the way up to the rubber pad at the top on the dash. Hope this helps.
  4. The stitching is all black, the flash makes it look lighter. Believe me those are not leather, they are vinyl and they match well close up. The cloth seats almost look like polyester so the slicker surfaces blend well. Here is a direct link Quality Mobile Video The AV thing has worked out. I just had to run a few RCAs to the head unit and use its two zone feature. Now all three monitors, dash included, can play playstation or watch a video. We will see how they do on the trip. That will be the real test.

    2008 Edge Head Unit Install

7-15-08 Install of Clarion MAX 685BT
  6. How bad is it? My wife's 2008 Edge is only a month old. She got terrible mileage on the first full tank and since then it is getting better each tank. I talked to my salesman, who I also know personally, and he said it will take a little while to "break-in". The gas mileage should keep improving. I don't know if we will ever get 24 MPG but we are at around 20 MPG now.
  7. Well they came in today. I purchased a pair of 7" Accelvision Dual DVD Universal Headrests for my wife's 2008 Edge. I purchased them from qualitymobilevideo.com They were 513.00 with shipping. I liked them because they each play their own seperate DVD. Two kids + Two DVD players= no arguments (atleast about what to watch). Easy install, but I am disappointed in the AV in/out features. You can show the same DVD on both monitors if you want, but the Playstation 2 (sent in through AV IN cannot be sent out through AV OUT to the other monitor. Therefore Two people must watch one monitor to play a game. Picture quality is good. Wireless Headphones are nice for the kids. Took a few pics for those of you thinking of doing the same thing.
  8. I have the Ohio Revised Code on DVD and would like to review it while I am driving (you can never know too many laws), this switch allows me to watch a dvd, for educational purposes only on my 14 hour trip to the house of mouse coming up soon, while I am driving. :yup: This switch also helps in performing Bluetooth operations while the car is in motion. Of course for emergency phone calls only, i.e. police, pizza, mother-in-law! I like the rocker switch better Lex. When I clean up the Ipod hole I might just switch that out. The one I used was the finest Wal-mart had to offer at the time. DVD headrests come tomorrow. My son is counting down the moments until he can play Playstation in mommy's car like he can in daddy's.
  9. Yes, it does. It works great as a hands free device but I am having trouble getting it to dial numbers from the screen. As far as sound, it is great. I am calling Crutchfield and/or Clarion tomorrow for a little extra help. So far I am happy with everything else.
  10. It is a little hacked, but I could not get a drill in the space provided by the removal of the heating controls. I have a dremel tool to clean it up a little. I just wanted to get it together and working for my wife to take to work tomorrow.
  11. New to the Forum. Just wanted to post a few pictures of my the new head unit in my wife's edge. I have been installing car audio on the side for the last 17 years and this is by far the easiest car I have installed a head unit in. I am anxiously awaiting my headrest dual DVD players. I will post the pictures when I get them installed. As for the install, what a breeze. If you do not know the radio cover/heating controls comes off in one piece (way to go Ford engineers). A simple tug at the bottom with a flat head and poof! Four bolts and the head unit is out. A crutchfield adapter, etc. and it's finished. I made a few modifications to the storage compartment. :happy feet:
