  1. I will be replacing the front struts on my GF's 2011 edge this upcoming weekend. She ordered Monroe quick struts and I have looked at some youtubes and have all needed tools. While looking this up in the past, I "think" I saw some reference to a service bulletin referencing the positioning of the upper bolt plate in a certain orientation for alignment issues. I haven't been able to find this again. None of the youtubes mentions it. Did I imagine this? I plan on installing these in whatever orientation they come in out of the box if I don't learn anything otherwise before I start. I'm sure there have been folks on this forum who have done this job so I would like to hear if it was an issue for anyone. Thanks in advance!
  2. Success!!! I was trying to connect the OBD as a device when I should have been searching for "internet connections". It was further down the list as some of my neighbor's Wifi's were apparently stronger than the output of the OBD. Once connected, the procedure went quickly. The only difference I noted was that my GF's Edge has Mytouch pushbutton start and we had to do the procedure with it running until the program told us to turn it off. Thanks to wlepse for the screencaps. I wouldn't have had the nerve to even attempt this without first seeing them. Thanks to xK317Hx for the great photo's of the steps to getting the camera out; once again, very confidence building. Thanks to omar302 for directing me to the various posts and for the encouragement. Made my day! My GF had some Amazon points and ended up using them and got the camera for $77. $20 for the scanner. $97 total vs. $700+ at the dealers. Anyone on the fence about doing this project should jump in. Plenty of great help here if you get stuck!
  3. Great news! We got the camera changed and everything reassembled with no drama, and the camera works better than it has for years. Of course I don't have the lines back yet. I purchased the MOACC wifi version scanner and downloaded Forscan. I have been unsuccessful in getting the scanner to be seen by my laptop. The Forscan program looks first for Bluetooth, then Wifi, then gives me a "No ELM detected" I've tried it with no power, power on, and engine running, all with the same results. When we plug the scanner into the vehicle, a red light comes on but no other lights flash. I am considering the option of returning this and getting either a Bluetooth version or a USB corded version. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong, or feedback on Wifi vs. Bluetooth vs. corded scanners. Thanks in advance for any help, you all are terrific!
  4. BTW, the auto repair shop which was recommended by one of the dealers quoted $600 for the job. They said it would include the reprogramming. They also said they would "replace all the wiring" going from the camera to to the radio for that price. I call bu****t. What do you think?
  5. omar302: Thanks so much for the prompt response. If I am understanding this correctly, i can buy the scanner and the forscan app, and follow the screencaps to regain the lines?
  6. New to this forum and researching topic for my GF's 2011, 80k miles. After reading the post by xK317Hx I am confident I can make this change OK. I have some questions re. this thread. Checking online for camera prices I keep seeing some at around $350 and some at around $100, both billed as OEM. I was wondering if there was a difference in these that I am not seeing. MY GF called 2 dealers about replacing the camera: One quoted $700+ depending on whether they had to install a new emblem. The other dealer didn't even want the work, and referred her to an auto shop that specializes in car audio, window tinting, etc. What I don't know as of yet (closed on weekends) is their price, and whether or not they would be able to do the reprogramming necessary to regain the back up lines and other functions or if after the camera was changed she would still have to take it to the dealer for the reprogramming. I'll report back on this when I hear back. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who changed the camera themselves, then returned to the dealer for the reprogramming, and how much the dealer charged for this. I've seen mention of a dongle and Forscan program to DIY on this step. Has anyone done this successfully? I'd be tempted to spend some money to do this if it was in my skill range. Thanks in advance!
