  1. I haven't seen an in-car nav system yet whose maps were not well out of date the day they were released. In my experience a Garmin with lifetime maps is a better investment. If you want the most up-to-date maps and POIs, it's time to start using google maps. On our '16 we've done the Android Auto update, and it's wonderful.

  2. Back when I owned a Cadillac XLR, I purchased a protection plan from Costco, which was reselling the premium plan from Century Warranty. Several would-have-been-expensive repairs were done over the next few years. My dealer said they were easy to work with, unlike some other companies.

  3. Only you can decide. Forscan-compatible usb-connection hardware is available at relatively low cost on ebay. Forscan is free at the current time. Google and read. Up to the point where you actually want to make a change you can't hurt anything. Just understand that some of the instructions are not super-handholdingly clear. If you can get through the opening sequence of Hitchhiker's (http://textadventures.co.uk/games/view/3cbedqimquselmanehhzxg/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy ) you'll do fine...
