  1. Yep, I am only getting around 15 mpg. Most of my driving is around town though and I drive pretty hard. I guess the only real benefit of this is that you are less likely to run out of gas and this will probably also protect the fuel pump, etc.
  2. I wanted to try to get an estimate on my new Edge's gas mileage, so I let it run down to empty (even past the E) and then went to fill up, but it only took 16.5 gallons. This is fine because I then just divided the mileage by 16.5 gallons, but what the heck? Ho wwill I know when the car is actually empty (or close to it)?
  3. 2008 Edge SE with under 1000 miles on it. I have noticed a few things on occasion and wonder if I should take in for service. One is that there has been a lag a few times when I have pressed on the gas. The other is while I have been stopped I have noticed what feelso like a very mild eartquake...like the car is shaking but it's not too noticeable. And it may be just me but I feel as though the car doesn't sund quite right. Hard to explain but it seems to sound different than when I first got it. It sounds a little whiny and the shift points seem wrong as the RPMs seem to be going high without a lot of corresponding movement from the car. Should I just take this in and have them plug into the computer to check for error codes? Thanks
  4. Hey guys- thanks for the respones. this is the first leased car I have ever owned so a few questions: My payoff (residual) after the 3 years is just over $12000...how is this bad? If I bought the EDGE new with no money down as I did with the lease. wouldn't I owe about $12000 still after 3 years? How am I paying for it twice? Also, in 3 years they are likely to have a pretty nice EDGE out that I will probably upgrade to,,,why lock myself in. In the past I have either paid outright or financed...right now I have a 2002 GMC Yukon that I still owe $12000 on and it is great truck but I have no equity...I think a lease at under $300 a monht for the Edge is a great6 deal...at the end of 3 years I can turn it in and get a new Edge or just buy it for $12k...what am I missing?
  5. Guys: I ordered my K&N filter for my 2008 Edge. I use this filter in my Yukon and no problems but not sure if it helped any. Read on here that K&N might let more dirt in and could damage engine. What's the real scoop? Thanks
  6. Thanks in advance for your patience if I sound like an idiot. I just got my 2008 FORD Edge SE base model in Vapor Silver on a lease and I love it so far. I will probably buy it when the lease comes up, but I am not sure. I would like to make some minor modifications and would love recommendations. The only non-stondard "upgrades" are the premium sound system and Sirius. For now, all I plan on doing is tinting the front windows, getting new floor mats because I have the light beige interior, getting racks installed (I just have the rails right now), and maybe installing some new speakers (the existing speakers do not handle bass very well in my opinion). I am not a big car modifier and am not looking for anything drastic. I doubt I would do any custom tuning or anything like that, but I would like to make the car look and sound a little tougher, perform a little better and imporve gas mileage- if possible. I ordered the K&N filter as a start but then I read that this could increase engine wear and I don't want that. What is the real deal on these filters? I have been looking at the cold air intake idea and looks like there are (or will be) some options on this. Is it worth it? Anything I can do with the muffler or exhaust to make it sound a little meatier or perform better? Anything else you would recommend to make it look cool? I am kicking myself for not getting the 18" premium painted wheels as they would look so good on my EDGE, but I wasn't even aware of them when I got it. Funny, the dealer spend very little time with me and there was no pressure or upselling. I did most of my negotiation by the phone and I think I got a really good deal and they made very little profit (I checked with my friend that was a car sales maanger for 10 years and he said he thought I got a great deal). Anyway, different story. Please keep in my mind I don't want to do anything that might cause warranty problems. Thanks again for any suggestions or advice. David (a convert)
  7. Hi. I am completely new to this forum and to car forums in general. I have been browsing though the forums and have found a lot of great information and am excited to be here. Just got my 2008 Vapor Silver Edge SE and think I got a good deal but would like some feedback. This all happened pretty fast as my VW Passat was in the shop and it wasn't looking good at first so I needed to get something quickly. My 1999 VW Passat had quite a few issues and I think I could have gotten maybe $3000 (on the high sidfe) if I sold it to a private party. Anyway, I went with the lease deal as I couldn't afford a higher payment right now and frankly I liked the idea of owning something temporarily that is covered by a bumper to bumper warranty. I have always bought and paid for used cars and I usually end up dumping too much money into the repairs. Anyway, the deal I got was no money down (they gave me $1800 for the Passat which I was fined with and applied that to the down) and lease payments of $296 per month for 3 years. It is the base model with 17 inch wheels, with few minor upgrades. i.e., Sirius, 6CD Premium Sound System and Cargo Mgmt system. I felt like this was a good deal for a lease. The residual payoff amount is around $12,000. Any thoughts? My regrets...I really want a set of the Premium 18" painted wheels which I had no idea existed until a few days after I got the car. I am not a fan of the chrome wheels too much and I thought that was all that existed. I also wish I had pushed for a few extras like a trailer hotch and cargo area cover, but oh well. Thanks in advance. BTW _ I live in Santa Barbara, CA and things are typically more expensive here anyway, so it may not compare that great to other areas but for a coastal town in CA I think it is pretty good
