I just use deionized water and NEVER hand dry. The more you touch, the more you scratch!

I have a 07 red Edge and same thing with my front bumper. You can see the bumper is a darker red then
the rest of the truck
yup. every car plastic is this way.

Thanks for the tips.
The "water spots" are apparently tire black from the car wash getting flinged back. I also get the spots on the paint areas, and that's a pain to get off with the mist.
If you are not allowing your tire shine to completely soak in (hour or two) then before driving, wipe your tires with a spare, but clean, rag.

Glad to hear the QD removed the pine sap.
The reason for using a rinse bucket is to rinse your mitt in the rinse bucket so that it will release all of the dirt in there before putting into your soapy bucket. You wouldn't believe how much dirt is at the bottom of the rinse bucket when you are done. More dirt in your rinse bucket means less dirt being moved around on your paint causing scratches. Also, NEVER use a squeegee or California water blade type of product on your paint. They are absolutely horrible on your paint and will cause some severe marring. Chamois are safe for drying your car, however an MF waffle weave towel will do a better job.
STRONGLY AGREE. "Spiderweb/swirl scratches" can be avoided by the 2 bucket thing and, if possible, a spot free rinse. I wash and rinse with de-ionized water and if a customer wants it dry, I break out the leaf blower (with a foam intake filter). The less you actually touch your paint, the better it will look! Happy detailing!

Good stuff. I noticed you are a detailer as well from the other thread. Always nice to see another detailer around.
Ditto! Most ppl just let their cars go..I've detailed cars that a year old that look worse that the '91 Skylark with 3 hubcaps. It's nice to hear someone say that it looks better than the day they bought it!! Like this guy...

My '07 is bubbling on the front bumper....where it meets the bottom of the grille..

My '07 has recently started to squeak bad, I assumed it was the glass against rubber noise, but this makes more sense. I'll take a peek tomorrow. Thanks!

Anyone replaced a brake booster by themselves. I started having problems a couple of weeks ago on my 07 Edge (way past warranty). I have a very stiff pedal and hissing from the booster. I want to try and get to the booster to see if the vacuum hose is ok or if I see any fluid indicating a leaky master cylinder. It looks like I need to take the battery and battery tray out just to even see the booster. What else do I need to do to get to the booster?
I bought the $10 shop manual that another thread referenced and it describes how to take the brake booster off, but it does not describe the procedure to get to the booster. I also looked around for a Chiltons or Haynes manual but it does not look like one exists for the Edge.
:stop: Oh, my friend, I had the same exact problem on our '07 Edge @ 42K miles. Your master cylinder is leaking and the fluid is leaking into your brake booster. I have the factory service manual here..http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/90135123-service-manual-2007-2008-2009-ford-edge. It was a $750 repair to replace BOTH the master cylinder and booster. I'm beginning to see more and more of it happening, hopefully leading to a recall.

My sun shade has came unglued, the hot sun must have turned the glue loose on the sided of the shade, so when you open the roof, it wads up on the sides! This thing actually tore up about 250 miles out of warrenty Anyone know how to go about fixing this? Or how much the dealer will charge to fix it?
We have a similar issue, the foam pad on the opposite side has began to come off...around $800 for a new shade (incl labor)

I've owned a detailing biz for a decade and I've seen some mucked up screens..I use spot-free water and a microfiber cloth to clean NAV screens...and I never put any kind of "protectant" on it. Hope all works out!

I'm having some issues with my woofer. I had it replaced under warranty a few months ago because it was rattling. Now, and for the past few months, whenever I listen to music at about 30% volume while driving, the subwoofer will cut out for about two seconds, then come back to life again. It's rather annoying, especially seeing as I listen to fairly bassy music.
The only time I was able to reproduce it (with the vehicle parked, I opened the power hatch) but since has not done it. I took it to the dealer when that happened and "everyone was on lunch" so they could not look at it.
I have never had this issue before regardless of volume (although I will mention turning the volume down doesn't necessarily prevent it), and it is one that is extremely difficult to reproduce for the dealer. Anyone have any suggestions on what I might try or what it might be?
Thanks in advance for any reply!
Do bumps/rough roads affect it? Sounds like a loose wire, most likely at the enclosure.

Good morning everyone-
I have a 2008 Ford Edge SEL, AWD with the 3.5L V-6.
I've noticed twice now that if I'm driving, and get off the gas, and then quickly get back on the gas, I'm getting a kinda loud bang from my rear end.
It's happened twice within a two month time period, and each time it's the same situation.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be? Also, I'm not sure if this is covered by my warranty or not, because from what I was told by my dealer, I only have a 3/36K powertrain warranty.
Is that correct?
Also, I have the same front axel seal that is leaking and hasn't been fixed yet. Could that cause the issue?
Thanks for the long questions.
Thanks
Matt
Powertrain should be covered for 5/50K, or is it 5/100K...anywho, 5 years

I installed a kit this weekend and I am having too much light scattering. I realize that the housings were not made for these bulbs, as the light source is not in the same spot as the stock bulbs, but wanted to give them a whirl. Also having some flickering issues. Prob not going to keep them. I can fix the flicker, but the light pattern is not too impressive.
