  1. BTW, I did receive the Blendmount and Mirror Tap kit. Now I have to figure out how to remove the covers to install the Mirror Tap.
  2. Sunglasses are not sufficient when the sun is directly in your field of vision. Also, my wife would not be pleased if she lost the use of her sun visor.
  3. All Hat No Cattle I suspect you only get part of the manual when you order the version without the links enabled. The 2017 Ford Edge manual I received a few weeks ago was only 6,491 pages, but I see yours is 13,312 pages. If this is the case the version I received is worthless.
  4. I bought the version with the links not enabled. What does the camera link do?
  5. Won't the visor mount preclude use of the sun visor?
  6. I was going to install a valentine 1 radar detector in my 2017 Ford Edge Sport using the suction cup mount, but I just learned that California law prevents mounting anything to a vehicle windshield. I am looking for alternatives and I was wondering if anyone here has done an installation with a Blendmount. Does it interfere with the adjustment of the rear view mirror or block too much of your forward vision? https://store.blendmount.com/mirror-id-for-013-c6481.aspx
  7. Follow-up To The Fluid Leak On My 2017 Ford Edge Sport The dealer I decided to go to was 30 miles away from my home and I wanted to make sure I could drive that distance without damaging anything. My investigation showed there was no ATF leaking from the transmission and the ATF level in the transmission was full. I was convinced the fluid was emanating from above the transmission case so I removed the air cleaner, battery and battery tray for a better look. See photo below. I even used a flexible bore scope to get a better look in tight spaces. All signs pointed to the transmission mount area, but I could not find anything definitive. When I dropped my Edge off at the dealership service department last Wednesday the staff was very impressed with my investigation and assigned the work order to their master mechanic. He was able to confirm that the transmission mount incorporates a hydraulic dampener that had failed and was leaking hydraulic fluid. This was a surprise to everyone. Before I took my Edge in I went through the Ford factory repair manual and I could find no mention that the transmission mount incorporated a hydraulic dampener. It will take 7 to 10 days for a new transmission mount to arrive. In the meantime the service department staff said I could drive my Edge with out damaging anything. BTW, back in the 60’s and 70’s I never hesitated to take my cars and motorcycles apart for repairs or to improve performance. I am guessing these days many are limiting their capabilities to the apps available on their smart phones.
  8. What I received was a pdf version of the 2017 Ford Edge service manual that I can search any time I want to refer to it on my computer. Here is a page from the Ford service manual I downloaded.
  9. I purchased the manual from them. It was downloaded directly from Ford. It's the real deal.
  10. Today I decided to remove the air filter box to see if I could get a better view of the top of the transmission where I believe the red fluid may be coming from. I also wanted to check the transmission fluid level. I found evidence of the red fluid as indicated in the photos below. I still could not locate a source. Looks like I need to pull the battery next since I see the red fluid under the battery. I will need the repair manual to figure out how to do that. Hopefully I will have the Edge repair manual I ordered today by tomorrow. NOTE: The transmission ATF level was fine.
  11. I sold the Toyota on Craigslist last year. Sold in less than 1 hour. I had about 30 people contact me.
  12. I stay off Old San Jose Road. Too many bicyclists.
  13. Does anyone have experience with this supplier of Ford Edge factory repair manuals. I am thinking of obtaining a factory repair manual for my Ford Edge from them. https://www.factory-manuals.com/expand-ford-edge-2015-2016-2017-factory-repair-manual-563.html
  14. I just learned that the 2017 Ford Edge Sport does not have a power steering pump. The steering is electric. I think it would be beneficial if I had a service manual to see how to remove all the covers and get under the air cleaner. The source of the leak appears to be well above the drive shafts and to the left under the air cleaner.
  15. I sent the photos to a local Ford Dealer and their technician thinks the red fluid may be power steering fluid. When I look up I can see the red fluid all over one of the upper motor mounts.
  16. OK folks. Here are some photos.
  17. Sounds like a major repair. My biggest concern is finding a dealership that has competent staff to do the work correctly. I purchased this Ford Edge to replace a 1990 Toyota V6 4x4 SR5 pickup that I owned for 26 years. After 26 years one of the head gaskets went. My new Ford Edge could not even make it to 26 weeks without needing a major repair.
  18. I believe mine was built in November of 2016. I see your location is SC Mtns. Is that Santa Cruz? I live in Aptos.
  19. My 2017 Ford Edge Sport is leaking what looks like ATF fluid by the front wheel on the driver’s side. I noticed a few drops on the garage floor this afternoon when I returned home. I looked under the car and saw the red fluid splattered all over the lower A-arm and inner fender on the driver’s side. My car only has 1,200 miles on it. I will pull the drivers side front wheel tomorrow to get a better look. Any guess on what may have failed?
  20. I am currently on my 5th tank of gas and averaging 12.7 mpg on this tank of gas. All city driving at 25 to 35 mph in DRIVE.
  21. Looks like I need a long road trip to verify my highway milage. This will tell me if I am in the normal range or if something is wrong with my Edge. It could be a while before I have time to do this. I will report back.
  22. How do I check the PCM codes? Do I need a scanner?
  23. What is your percentage of city and highway driving? I have not had a chance to take my Edge Sport on a long trip yet. I am hoping I can get at least 20 mpg. BTW, I read somewhere that the 2.7L was detuned for the Edge Sport because the driveline could not handle the power output for the same engine not detuned and installed in Ford trucks. Is this true?
  24. I have never used Sport mode. I always use Drive.
  25. Thanks everyone for the responses. I live in California near Monterey. Does gas blended for California typically produce lower mpg ratings. I mentioned the C-Max because my Ford Edge Sport can’t even get half (19 mpg) what the C-Max gets when I drive the Ford Edge Sport conservatively. The longest highway drives are between 10 and 15 miles. City driving is typically 3-4 miles. I did some searching on the Internet about gas mileage for the Ford Edge Sport and found this. It made me think there was something seriously wrong with my vehicle if someone could get 24 mpg combined while driving aggressively. Based on my current gas mileage numbers I suspect I would be getting something like 12-13 mpg if I drove aggressively. I used to have the following vehicles: 1990 Toyota V6 5-speed 4x4 SR5. This was my daily driver and used to pick up large items. 2001 Corvette 6-speed convertible with a Z51 suspension. This we used for occasional road trips to the national parks. I typically got 28-29 on the highway and 19 combined. I never drove the car hard, but I liked to run it through the gears on twisty roads. After 26 years a head gasket in the Toyota went and it was too expensive to justify fixing it. The Corvette was not practical as a daily driver and had not been driven much in the last 5 years due to work and health issues. I decided to get a Ford Edge Sport since it had decent power, I liked the idea of a tuned suspension and there was lots of room in the back with the seats down to carry large objects. I do travel on dirt roads occasionally so the AWD might come in handy, especially in the snow. The Ford dealer gave me an excellent trade in allowance plus $5,500.00 off the Ford Edge sticker price. I have reset the mpg meter at each fill up and on the last fill up I also wrote down the mileage so I can compare the Edge’s calculation to my calculation at the next fill up. If I can ultimately get 18mpg combined driving it is sport mode while getting on it occasionally I will be satisfied. I am thinking the 24 mpg combined claimed above in the screen shot is nonsense for a Ford Edge Sport that is driven aggressively.
