  1. Witch problem will changing the sensors solve clunking in reverse, or not shifting into higher gear after stop? Stan
  2. Any body experience this? When you shift into reverse there is a loud clunk(bang) going into reverse? Or another transmission issue. Sometimes starting out from a stop it will not shift up into a higher gear. To fix the problem just turn the key off then back on, then it shifts normal. Stan
  3. Anyone else have this problem. When taking off from a stop the transmission stays in low. If I stop, turn off the ign. and restart it's fine. This doesn't happen often. The first time it happened I had it towed to a tranny shop. They said nothing is wrong. I guess it's something I will live with for now. Stan
  4. I have been towing my 08 edge behind my class C motorhome. My Ford V 10 pulls it fairly well. My problem is after a few hours the battery is dead. I am doing all the right things. I finally disconnect the battery, and use the coach wiring for stop, and turn. Has any one else heard of that problem? Stan
  5. I got a quote last week of over $ 1,100 to change my brake booster. That is why I tackled it my self. Probably 4 hours total. If there is a next time It will be around 2 hours. It's not right what dealers do to customers. After being on this planet 74 years doing most of my repairs on my tractors, and cars, and motorcycles, one gets a good idea of what's happening. It's too bad some people don't have a clue when it comes to mechanical things. Oil change places are another rip off store. Just watch out. Stan
  6. I guess I should have said I am the second owner, that sounds like the car has been around the block a few times. Had they been truthful on the miles, and the previous owner, I could have done a better deal. Stan
  7. New here on the sight, but the bad deal on my 08 Edge I got from a Ford dealer in Escondido ca. is old, and still fresh in my mind. I looked a new Ford Edge. It was sitting on the back lot with 500 miles. That should have been my first clue. They told the miles were because the salespeople would drive it around for exposure. Next clue I missed. Wife wanted her car, so we made the deal. Signing so much stuff. We are just about done says the salesman. The last paper to sigh says I know the the car is used. WHAT did you say. This is a used car it's called a roll back the guy says.. It was sold, and brought back. I don't want the car I told the salesman. Then the wife starts crying. I caved in and signed. The car has just been ok, a few issued I will not get into now. I made a fuss the next few days. My only compensation was a couple free oil changes. I told them no thanks. So now if I trade in my car it is listed as used. Anyone ever had this happen, or anything like it? Stan
  8. I think if it were mine, I would have the master cylinder changed. Like someone else said with a bad booster you still have brakes, just hard to push. When I changed my booster the master cylinder was very easy to get at. There should not be much more than an hour labor at the dealer to change it. My master cylinder was a little over 100.00 at Ford. Napa wanted 180.00 Probably from China also. At least from Ford you can be certain it is of better quality. I don't know why Napa was so much higher. Stan
  9. Finally got everything back together. I have good brakes, but there is a lot of free play. in the pedal before the car stops. The pedea is close to the bottom, but the car stops fine. Something I found when I removed my booster. I think the master cylinder has been leaking from day one. The booster had over a pint of fluid. I added fluid every few months, and didn't give it much thought. Now with a new booster, and master cylinder, I wonder why I have a lot of free pay in the pedal Any thoughts? Stan
  10. Thanks for the pictures. I did get it out. What a bad dream. I tried it. I have O brakes. I think I may have not got the booster shaft into the master cylinder hole. It is too dark now. All I can do is remove the master cylinder again. I think if I have someone push the brake pedel the get the booster shaft out a little further. To make sure it goes in the hole. Stan
  11. I found out my brake booster is bad. I had my hopes up when I read it still may be under warranty. I read, 10 years, or 150,000 mi according to Ford bulletin 13N02 it covers only 2010 and up. After getting a quote of $1,100 I decided to do it my self. It seams to be going ok so far. I ran out of light. I can't get at the inside parts, until I remove my seat, and slide it back a little. My 74 year old body just don't bend like when I was younger. Has anyone replaced one lately? Does the booster actually come up and out of the engine compartment? Looks close. Stan
