I waited to buy my 2021 for the 12-inch touchscreen specifically. Glad I did it, especially when you are using the navigation screen. The detail is amazing in 3D. I do wish you had more physical knobs as a backup for the climate control. It really looks nice once you get used to it. Sync 4 is a big advance over Sync 3 for sure.

Agree. And after cataract surgery it's even better!

  2. You've told us Insurer says corrosion, what did mechanic say? Generally, they would say they missed it and add it to claim if in fact they believe accident caused it. They get more work and guaranteed payment that way. Sounds like it may be co-incidental, but we would just be guessing without the mechanic's follow up report. If you feel the mechanic is wrong for whatever reason, talk with them and if still not happy inform them you are going to have it towed to another mechanic for a 2nd opinion.

  3. "You Do Not Have Permission" is the message I get when I try to view response to my post on "What is this green Wire" thread. Can't even find thread any longer, assuming due to this message. Makes no sense, generic thread, I posted to it, and now can't even see my own post. Anyone have an idea? I did write Admin.

  4. You may, and I say may, be able to have a decoupler installed. There are companies that make them for this purpose. Not sure if they make one for 2024 Edge, but I remember seeing them when I found out I couldn't flat tow a manual tranny Tacoma after dealer told me I could. That's a whole nother story....

  5. People use to debadge the Hyundai Genesis when it first came out. Dealers pulled logos and put the "Wings" on it to as an upgrade charge. Funny how similar it is to Aston Martin. Great cars and they knew it,  but they were embarrassed being a Hyundai. Now it's a badge of honor.

I know, right! The little rubber mat for the front pass through was 45.00 bucks. It does feel good to have the things there that should have been there in the first place! That tray is probably worth it though, it is so nice to have it.

Never noticed that. Do you have the part number?

  7. If the dealer doesn't do it, it certainly could affect a warranty claim. That would depend on how the dealer submits the claim to Ford. This is similar to reprogramming the ecm for more speed or power and over revving or running too rich or lean and creating damage to engine. I bring this up as I saw a new Vet getting a new engine at owner's expense. He removed programming before sending it dealer, "black box" saw the changes and GM denied claim. Ouch.

  8. Not sure how easy it really is to pull up the cargo cover and access the storage are without opening the rear hatch and crawling back there. If that is truly your intent you should probably invent/make a cargo cover that could "roll up" so you could easily get in from front side as well as back. Thin wood slats with a marine vinyl glued backing might do the trick. Necessity is the mother of invention.

After finally needing to use my jump box for my own emergency purposes (on another vehicle that is more mechanical than electronic as far as access), I am trying to plan for the best place in my 2019 SEL to keep one.

I want to store it under the cargo area, towards the front. I can open the drivers door with the emergency key, reach back and double pull the rear drivers side door to open it without power, right? Then use the manual lever to drop the seat back, then lift up the front of the cargo floor. I have a super amount of emergency related stuff around the spare already, I need to 3d print some more holders and sections so it doesn't rattle, squeak, or make the floor not sit level.

The jump box would take up nearly all of the pitiful center console space, probably too large in a dimension to fit in the really small glove box along side the owners manual, and won't even fit in that useless cubby in front of the center console (yes, sour grapes, all the storage areas on this as so small, compared to even what it replaced, a 2017 Escape).

Under the hood I am not sure I can find a decent place that doesn't get super hot, and I live where 90+ days a year it is 100+, and just enough rain that it would need to be protected from that splashing up.

By "jump Box" do you mean a backup battery to jump an installed factory battery? If so I have a Lithium battery with jumper cable, USB outlets and with emergency light. I keep in the rear pocket sidewall in the cargo bay, driver's side. It fits tight and I leave it plugged in to the accessory plug right by it so its always charging when I drive and won't be dead when I need it.

  10. Been on the Dragon several times, always on bikes. Many accidents and one in our group went over the edge, luckily only scrapped up except his bike. Whether cars, bikes or small trucks it is a dangerous road and you can easily be run off it.

Never tried to do it "timed" as I didn't want to get hurt, and stopped doing it after my friend's accident, separate from the one mentioned above above.

Weird that the 2021 ST doesn't have wireless charger (unless it is a 401A "high package" vehicle) with the ST-Line having it standard (and Titanium). No real loss, I want to unplug mine so I don't need the little mat I printed, or put phones in face down. My 2019 has a door over it, and if I do wireless charging and close the lid within 10-15 minutes I see that my phone is no longer charging. With it open I get about an hour before it over heats.

I don't put my phone in face down, face up. So far it hasn't overheated. Went 2 hours the other day too, 100% charged, warm but not overheated. Has a thin case too. Tried another model Samsung, non foldable, and it works too. Yep, strange no wireless pad stock, but seems "home built" was only way to make it charge properly while using phone.

  12. My car did not come with the wireless pad, my last car did and same as you all report, if connected won't charge properly. Yea a tight fit for hones which is why I suggested under center arm rest. With the air conditioning on, my console stays cool so either there is a vent I don't see in there, or the vent to rear seats goes under there and keeps it cool enough. My last car cooked in there. Mistake or planned it works out well.

  13. So, bought a new phone, Samsung Z Flip 5. Love the form factor and they made me a stupidly good offer. Anyway, had previously stayed away from using AA wirelessly, always plugged into USB. reasons being Wifi was buggy on connection and the old 10 watt wireless charger wouldn't provide enough power to charge phone while connected. Recently though the USB connection started glitching on me particularly on long drives, so I decide to try AA on wireless again. To my amazement it hasn't disconnected once! So now I had to find a way to make it convenient and just through my phone into the cubby and stop plugging in.

I finally found what works for me. A newer smaller 15 watt pad that has USB C and works with QI3.0 fast charging. Now my wireless charging works perfect. I didn't want to hang a wire to the passenger side accessory plug, or pull console apart to feed/hide wires, so I found a USB C accessory adapter to hold the QI charger. It all fits and works! I tucked the plugs way in the back since my phone didn't need all the room.

If you use the adapter make sure you have enough room for your phone in the cubby. It looks like just enough room in front of ports in the cubby if you need the space. I did not try and use that though so unsure. If large phone doesn't fit, I suggest the tray under the arm rest.

Not sure if this setup works for Iphones or Pixels, you'll need to read up on that on the venders site for the Pad.

THIS WILL NOT WORK without the QI charger. It WILL provide power but not enough if you only plug into the USB C port. Tried it.

recently the latest version downloaded to my car. Got to say it is great they are staying current and still fixing and improving a car they are discontinuing. Look is better, functionality slightly improved, and they finally listened and made the heated seat button work properly. Only thing bad was they removed phone battery charge remaining indicator.  Since didn't ever show battery charging or not, wasn't really important. Knowing phone was charging was way more important. Maybe they'll put back in and make it work properly in a future update.

Follow up, only days later a newer version has downloaded. Within days they enabled public wifi so you can use the apps, games and get powerup updates from more locations. Still no phone charging indicator...

  15. You may like paper manuals (which you could print or have a printshop do and bind for you) once you download the PDF manual to your phone tablet or computer it is so much easier. Ctrl F or a search button brings up "search" type anything you need such as "gas" or "towing" and you'll get links to find every spot in the manual that finds that word. Super quick to find exactly what you are looking for. I download a PDF for everything we own, refrig, dishwasher, tv..... All right there in a "Manuals" folder in the cloud (Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive... Your choice) instead of piled up in an overstuffed drawer. Can get to from any device.
