  1. OK so I parked my 2008 Edge with 14,000 miles at the airport for 3 days. When I returned, the first thing I noticed as I backed out of my parking spot was the brakes made a grinding/shuddering sound. It did this for about 5 minutes, and then stopped-normal braking performance and sounds after that. This has never happened before and hasn't happened in the week and as half since I returned. Did it fix itselfLOL? And ONCE I opened the moonroof, and it did this start/pause/start thing for about halfway back. It only did this that ONE time. Did it also fix itself? I know if I take my Edge in and it isn't doing the things described at that moment, it won't be fixed. Help! Jen
  2. Just curious-how many miles did you put on your 07? Did you have any problems? Jen :burnout:
  3. Actually, I guess I'm fortunate-my mileage is getting much better. I just turned over 3,400 miles. I'm getting around 19.5 doing 70% stop-n-go and 30% freeway. I was pretty disappointed at first. until recently I was getting around 18 overall. I don't baby it but I DO try to watch hard acceleration/stopping and trying to coast to stoplights. Jen :burnout:
  4. I ordered one off Ebay. It arrived perfect, however, when I placed it on the bumper to see how it would fit, it was a little off plus I didn't like the way it just stopped in a straight edge at the ends. SO, I got a pair of scissors and trimmed the edges so that it "curved" a little. Now it looks like it was made for the car and not something jut thrown on. Jen :burnout: P.S.It adhered fine and sticks tight
  5. I did three things that helped the airflow/cooling issue. 1. I used black duct tape to completely seal off the rear air vents. Is it ugly?Probaly, but since I live alone and noone is hardly ever in the backseat, no problem. 2. I tinted the driver and passenger doors which helps keep out some of the heat. 3. I put a tint strip across the top of the windshield(i think its called an "eyebrow"). That contributed to keeping the hot Dallas sun from heating up the interior a bit. Alltogether these three things seemed to help quite a bit. I think Ford dropped the ball as far as the actual airflow coming out of the vents and the fact that there are only four vents. I have never had a problem with cooling down, but it really could have been designed better.Jen :burnout:
  6. I thought it might be interesting to see how ya'll rate your Edge.... *****Excellent **** Very Good *** Good ** Fair * Poor As for my beautiful '08 Creme Brulee Limited- Overall Comfort ****1/2 Interior quietness **** Ride ****1/2 Handling **** Braking *** Engine(Noise Smoothness Vibration) ***** Power ***** Body Structure(Rattles Etc) ***** Overall Satisfaction ****1/2 If you had to do it over again, would you buy an Edge(yes no maybe)? YES Did I miss any areas? JEN
  7. OK I'm lost. What was the joke? Are the brake lines for real or what? If so who would install them? Thanks, Jen :burnout:
  8. Performance springs are already available and few people realize that a good spring set can shorten braking distance as well ,so that is a future consideration also. Thank you for your input! I wasn't so much looking to shorten the braking distance so much(although that would definately be nice), but moreso the braking feel. It seems that, like many Fords, its a bit "spongy". Not so much that its a make-it-or-break-it thing, but I would like to improve it. Again, thanks for your help! :burnout: JEN
  9. Does anyone know how to improve the braking performance? I think its one of the few weak areas of my Edge. At first it seemed weaker than I would like, but seems to have improved as the miles go by...but..I know there are various high performance ways people improve braking, just wondering if there are any not-too-terribly-expensive options I could explore. Thanks! :burnout: JEN
  10. My edge came with a dealer installed woodgrain kit, but not as many pieces as the one here. Its a dark walnut color, very nice, I wish it were a tad lighter BUTit does improve the interior look.
  11. No....with all due respect, I think it looks a tad "ghetto"...but what I did install was chrome door handles and it makes all the difference in the look. I kept seeing Infiniti FX's, Lexus SUV's etc with the chrome handles...it only took minutes and the cost was cheap. Jen
  12. I went to register my 2008 Edge Limited on the Ford web site, when I entered the VIN# the site said it was for a SEL Plus. My window sticker says its a Limited as does the logo on the rear. Is this a problem? P.S. I'm sure I entered the # correctly. Thanks in advance! Jen
