I have a 2008 Edge, and recently had the brakes and rotors replaced. They told me at the time, that my ABS Pump and Brake Booster were also having issues. I was experiencing a lot of resistance when pushing down on the brakes, and it was slow to stop, but the ABS light never came on, so I was surprised that there was a problem with my ABS. The mechanic that replaced the pads and rotors, told me that I had to take it to the dealership and have the ABS module replaced. My questions are:
1) Does it have to go to the dealership to be fixed? They quoted me roughly $2000 for the parts and service, which frankly is just not worth it.
2) What do they mean when they say it has to be reprogrammed?
3) Are their other options for repair?
