  1. If you're looking to convert / retrofit them into the OEM vertical light strips in the front bumper, these would be too long to fit into the OEM housing or into the the bare opening. The maximum length of the DRL is about 7.5". If your just looking to install these in between the vertical bars of the grill, then they will be fine. I've never used these Phillips, but I have seen some good reviews on them. In case you're interested in retrofitting the OEM vertical parking light to DRLs, here's a link to my retrofit video & photos:

Where did you find the dimensions for the Phillips? I have been searching everywhere, but can't seem to find and size information on them?

  2. i went to CIAS [canadian international autoshow ] yesterday and checked up on this new mft on several of ford vehicles. i did noticed its a bit quicker than present one , little difference in layout but believe me or not its still unfinished business [ sorry this may break some hearts]. i found it laggy in few of their 2013 models [ahem... escape] .it may be one off case , idont know but i wasn't really impressed . my reason to go to autoshow was to test it and i spent nearly an hour on different fords and mkx.[ maybe the mkx wasn't updates as i didn't get chance to check its firmware].

Hmmm... the 2013 Escapes at Chicago did NOT have the update. The only Ford at the Chicago show I could find with the new version of MFT was a 2013 Fusion all lettered up as a demo car to show off MFT technology.

  3. I noticed that all the photo gallery shots of the upcoming MFT Upgrade does not show the temperature along side the clock as it does on this version I have on my 2011 Limited with Navigation (with the latest updates available). Will this be included in the upgrade.

Nope... I saw the new version on a Fusion at the Chicago Auto Show. The dropped the temp and compass from the center, just the time now. So your passenger won't easily be able to see the outside temp, but you will still see it on the multi-function display on the dashboard.

  4. Thank you... anything upgraded over what it is should help.... id love if someone here had the 10p..... even if we all pitched in and purchased a 10p... then gave it to one another, would take the bs 200 dollars down to something reasonable

The one I have is 8p. If you want it I am happy to send it to you, PM me your contact info.

  5. does anyone here happen to have a 2010 nav disc, or a copy of it?? my 2008 nav files are usless to me, as most of the area i live in is newer then 2008... and it says im driving in the field most of the time, and finding clients homes with out nav is a pita...

    any help would be amazing

    Thanks

When I had my 2008 Edge, I updated the NAV, not sure of the version... but I can check the Disk and see if I can figure out what version it is. Seems like I had 6x from the factory and this is 7 or 8. Looks like Navteq is up to 10p. I am happy to send it to you as I don't need it in my new Edge.

  6. That's an awesome truck good luck with it. I have the sport model and I am truly loving the vehicle tomorrow will be its first road trip can't wait to see how it handels on the open road

We test drove it tonight before we signed the papers. I was impressed with how it drove compared to the 2008 which was the last one I had. It was so I dunno, Plush... compared to the old ones. Seemed really quiet going down the road and very smooth. I really liked the feel of the steering. I can't wait to pick it up tomorrow evening.

  7. I just purchased a new 2012. I have been reading about the Touch issues for years here on the Edge Forums. I did not hesitate on the new Edge mainly because, I know a fix is looming. Sure it may not be perfect... but if a fix is pending.... I will risk it.

I tried the 2012 Audi with MMI and the Wife has a 2010 Honda CRV with Nav... in my opinion Sync still BLOWS away at least those two options... buggy or not.

  8. Been a member since 2007... yup the first year of the Edge.

Well after having a 2007 for my wife and a 2008 for me that are long gone... I just purchased a 2012 Limited AWD with 302a, 20" Wheels, Trailer Pkg and All Weather Mats. Its Cinnamon with Sienna interior. Beat up a number of dealers before finally getting one actually local to me to play ball.

Picking it up tomorrow. And unlike the 2007, I won't have to break the windshield on this one!!! :D Those who have been around a long time may remember I installed a Homelink, Ext Temp Mirror for my wife just after getting the Edge. I broke her windshield on the install. Not a fun day.

  9. I have been looking to buy a loaded 302a Limited with a sticker right around 44500.

When I build this vehicle on the Ford Site, with my Zip code and all options and then go to Ford's Lease Payment calculator, the monthly payment is a good hundred dollars different then what a dealership is quoting me for the same term, mileage etc.

Has anyone else experienced this with Ford's calculator... you would think they would not want it showing numbers over a hundred lower a month then the dealer would show for the same prices. Are there LARGE factors that calculator is leaving out or is the dealer trying to make some extra $$$.

  10. Hey Guys... just an FYI... 8P is out there easily findable via your favorite Torrent search engine. I found it in like 2 minutes by searching Navteq, it was on my first page of results. It took overnight to get downloaded at 2.7 gig or so (RAR'd). I unpacked it and burned it using the MD5 file included in the RAR with IMG Burn (free, just Google it). Worked like a charm in my 2008 Edge.

  11. We have two Edges. A 2007 SEL AWD and a 2008 Limited AWD. We live in Northern, Indiana (South Bend). We get quite a bit of snow each winter being in the Lake Effect zone of Lake Michigan. We live about 25 miles from work and both commute about 30 minutes each day.

Before the Edges I had a 4x4 F150 and my wife had AWD Explorers. I can easily say the Edges get through the snow just as well as our previous vehicles. The AWD works well and the ground clearance is high enough to go through some pretty nasty stuff.

Sure... I can't bust drifts at 45 MPH like I use to in my F-150... and I can't help folks stuck in the snow... but for the gas mileage and comfort difference.... we really love them. My wife's 07 lease is up in two payments. She is going to get another one!!!!

Have they been without problem... surely not... is any vehicle these days?? She put just at 45K on in 3 years... I drive just a bit more. We have had very FEW visits to the dealer for anything but oil changes and tire rotations. (knock on wood). And yeah... by 08 has the infamous PTU leak, minor issue.....

  12. Are the wires in the ceiling of the truck if the vehicle was not produced at the factory with the auto dim feature?

    Or is a rewire needed?

I put one in my wife's 2007 SEL. Wires are there for power, but you will need to run the thermostat for external temp down the pillar and through the firewall. Since I was running wires down the pillar, I ran batt power and ignition power from the fuse box and just tucked the factory wires into the head liner. It made it a nice and clean, indistinguishable from factory install.

I ended up breaking her windshield trying to get the old mirror off. There is a tool you can buy to get the mirror off, others said you could do it with a small screwdriver, but that is how I broke the windshield. If I did it again, I would just drive it to a automotive glass company and ask them to pull the old mirror off for me, they do it all the time.

All in all it ended up being an expensive upgrade (because of the windshield)... but she loves it. I purchased the mirror made by Mito Corp. They are located in Elkhart Indiana and OEMs many of the mirrors for Ford. They are local to me, so I just picked on up. Seems to me it was near $300. I did this a number of years ago, sorry I don't remember all the details. Oh yeah, I got the one with Homelink, Compass, Temp, Auto-Dim.

  13. well.... here is a curve ball for you... the freak is correct

my 2008 fully loaded (navi, Sirius) Limited absolutely, positively, unequivocally attenuates - lowers the volume - of my stereo when reverse sensors come on. I tested it like 5 times.. moment the sensors kick in, the stereo lowers in volume. it is not the sensors getting louder I am hearing, it is the stereo volume dropping. no doubt about it.

    Lex,

Same here, fully loaded limited. I will try it tomorrow, to make sure it does not mute. But I am pretty sure it does not.

  14. I promise it did it the first week I had it!!!!! I also had an 07 Edge and I know that didn't attenuate. The 08 was ok for a week and now it doesn't work. It's not a coincidence. I may have screwed up some setting and I can't seem to fix it!

I have an 08 with Sync and Nav... my sound has NEVER lowered during backing. My previous 04 F-150 did indeed significantly lower the sound to play the backup beep. I also notice with the Edge unlike the F-150 the backup beeping sound seems to come from the back of the vehicle vs. my F-150 that emitted the sound through the Audiophile stereo system.

Also note, my wife has an 07... no muting when backing either.

  15. Sounds easy enough and now that I think back, I already had that unit down before... t should only take a matter of moments to identify the pins needed to supply voltage. I would think we could find the correct power as the day/night mirror wiring also feeds from up there. I do believe the day/night functionality only works with headlights on. I can also verify voltages present when lights on vs. lights off.

I already know from experience that the BAMR controls are not a good source for voltage as they are fed from a logic circuit of sorts. I tried to get power from the BAMR when I replaced my wife's mirror with a Homelink/Temp/DayNight mirror. I don't remember where I tapped for power to the mirror, I think I ended up running a wire down to the near the fuse panel and tapping a wire in one of the harnesses there.

Hopefully I can pull it tomorrow and give you some definitive answers.
