Every time I google walk-throughs of other people upgrading their sony subwoofer I come to this forum but my question has still not been answered.
I understand you can swap out the sub for another shallow sub pretty easily. What I want to know is for those who have disassembled everything, is there also a separate amp located near the sub that could be easily swapped out? Or is it just a speaker wire coming all the way from an amp in the front?
I ask because I don't want to upgrade the subwoofer and have it underpowered, so I'd like to upgrade the subwoofer's amp too, and if the power leads and signal leads can just be swapped over from whatever stock amp they use that'd save a LOT of time. I do not want to go through the hassle of running new power lines from the battery, through the firewall, all the way to the trunk.
Besides your word of mouth answers is there somewhere I can see actual figures or diagrams of how this is setup stock and what the RMS wattage is without ripping apart my trim/panels??
