Likewise, looking at different used Ford Edge's and then came across PTU problems. It would appear that the 13/14 were the same design years, probably 12 also. For 2015, read that the body was redesigned, four inches longer and one inch higher. Also gave more storage space. As for engine's, some mention about the 2L changes later for 2015.
Some people have the money to buy new three to four years and probably most of us, look around for a decent used one. After couple years, we would hope that the present owner would have had to deal with the different bugs in new vehicles, besides the time.
I myself was looking for a 13 limited and then thought maybe 14, with leather seats. I have a 3.5 L Nissan and excellent engine. I thought the 1.4 or 2 l turbo would be great as most driving city and with gas prices who knows a year or two from now.
Then, I came across the PTU problems and real serious. I was reading about the KIA Sorento's and great warrenty, 10 years and problems customers were having when things went wrong-easy catch all tell every one they are abusive drivers. There was this sludge problems.
Like you, wondering if problems fixed in 15 or maybe 16. For extended warrenty, have to find year, warrenty siill in effect to get extended. Extended warrenty has high markup and of course negotiable. My earlier Ford one had started out at $2200 for four years but got it for $1200. But if you are one like me that get a vehicle and drive it forever, then, we might run into a problem when warrenty runs out.
