Any ford guys know if putting the mismatched tire on one of the back wheels would help minimize the risk of damage? My thought is that since the rear doesn't get engaged that often it doesn't matter as much....

thanks for the post! I really don't like that new grill. It's great not to have the urge to upgrade my 07...

Hello everyone,
I just picked up my first MKX. Its a 2007 Black Ultimate Elite with the read heated seats and tow option with 38,000 miles. Got her for $26,500. Seemed like a pretty good deal so we took it. Any quirks or info I should know about the vehicle?
As mentioned, the visibility with the side mirrors is not the greatest... Turn radius is ok. But other than that it's a great car!

I happily paid for AWD to avoid putting getting out of my car and putting on chains every time I go to the mountain. They have highway patrol checkpoints for chains or AWD down here in SoCal, so it doesnt matter how skilled of a driver you are. Now a skilled liar will get past the checkpoint pretty easily, but thats a different issue.

I'll let someone else answer since I don't have first hand experience... But you should find out if the non-navigation harnesses have hookups to the Vehicle Speed Sensor. If not, you'll need an aftermarket unit that doesnt require this wire. I think the JVC units are like this.

My Blazer had a spare identical to the four wheels/tires on the truck. I had three flats while I had the truck, but always fixed them right away and put the spare back. To me what it looks like does not matter, as long as it works when I need it. And a stock wheel/tire would be SO heavy to get out of the back too. Aren't spares designed so people can manage them?
Hmm interesting... the whole reason I was going to do this was so I wouldn't have to fix it right away. And the heavy part I didn't consider either. I don't really care what it looks like either, but I don't like having to tip toe around on the spare. Good posts! thanks

What is the correct bore size of the MKX/EDGE?
I'm finding it to be 70.5... is this correct?
...and where did you get the rings made?
...are they plastic or aluminum?
That's right here are the bore sizes:
63.3 mks
70.5 mkx
Be careful, discount tire told me slightly different sizes. I had the rings made at motorsport-tech.com . I just went with the numbers that they told me. Good quality stuff, but slow service. They are aluminum.

I just want to know if the '09 or '10 come with a 5th regular wheel. If no one posts, big deal. Here is your honorary thread police badge! haha

Thanks.. I guess that answers part of it, yes the diameter of the spare well should be big enough. But now to see if the spare well has enough depth...
Has anyone put a stock wheel in the spare well?
-
Does anyone know if a stock wheel and tire (18 or 20 inch) will fit in the storage well for the spare?
The press releases for the 2009 and up MKX say that it comes with a full-size spare. Does anyone know if this is the exact same wheel/tire as the other four the vehicle rides on?

No I meant can you find the same one on ebay and send me a link for it? Not the original ebay listing that you used to buy it... I just want to buy the same brand/type.
-
can you send me a link to the one you bought? I found some, but I wanna get one that is sure to work...

I can't verify if it's actually necessary to keep the RSE running, but I can tell you my harness has the same RSE feature and mine still works. I bought an incredibly expensive Metra AXXESS (sp?) one. The Pac versions at the time, were missing a couple features like the ability to adjust rear/front fade.

I bought some new Lincoln wheels and need to retrain the TPMS to my car. Has anyone done this before? I found the steps on the internet, however I don't know if I need to buy an actual tool off ebay, or just use some sort of magnet.
Any tips? Anyone in socal have this tool?

Goto parts.com, enter 2007 Lincoln MKX as your vehicle, and search for the word cargo. It's $29 for each side there. The description is Storage compart Left - W/cargo management - W/cargo management .
-
But the same is not true for the MKX... Need a car with nav to get the double din opening.

I can vouch for the AWD being good on the Edge/MKX. I've sat in traffic on the mountain for hours and have had lots of time to observe other trucks/suvs having a harder time. I've also had the 'hand of God' traction control kick in once, and it will fix you up before you have time to be scared.

Has anyone slapped on some aftermarket brake pads? If so, what kind? I've found that they do make some difference in brake feel and performance...
-
Hey thanks for the compliment. I didn't get that great of a deal, paid $950 for them for rims and tires. Then I had to get some $180 spacers made.
-
Check it out... Factory Lincoln MKS 20" Polished Aluminum Rims. Word of warning, the bore size of the MKS is different than the MKX/Edge. I had to get some custom spacers fabricated just to put them on. However, the spacers I had made are hub-centric on the car-side and wheel-side so I'm really not worried much about vibrations.

Keep in mind the body is being refreshed next year!

I think my bezel was a 1/2 inch thick, so yeah something similar to yours. Here's a picture I posted: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...amp;#entry28841
I feel for the work you have to do... I did in-dash dvd, steering wheel controls, video bypass, backseat video, navigation breakout box, door speakers, subwoofer, subwoofer amp, license plate camera, and rear view mirror LCD. But yeah, totally worth it.

try searching cardomain.com , somebody probably has an edge on 24s there.

bmithchell, i actually did your first thought about 5 months ago. I took out he two storage compartments around the spare, I lifted the floor of the trunk up about 2" and i have 2 JL 12w3 mounted there. i built the boxes out of mdf and fiberglass. I still have full access to the spare.
Dude that sounds awesome, do you have any pictures? How much RMS is going to the 12's?
