  1. I picked up the vehicle and now they say it is a tranaxle seal leak. They say the part is on order but none have made it to canada to date and they have no idea when they will. They are just now starting to be availble in the US.

  2. Been having a burning smell lately, 10k miles on Edge now and just had oil changed so thought they spilled some. Parked on corner of driveway so I could try and fit under the Edge ( almost got stuck under there ) to check it out and oil filter and drain plug are ok. Found it wet near center of vehicle by transfer case cover and is probably dripping on exhaust y pipe there. Will post back dealer finding but after reading up on some PTU posts and some google hits with photo's, it is right in that area. After the mechanical problems with my two F150's, I can say I am a bit disappointed with these new Ford's. Also, would have been great if dealer noticed these drips when changing the oil last Wednesday since it is not that far from the oil drain plug and the underside of the vehicle is still brand new looking. I could see it immediately.
  3. I took my 2008 Edge Limited in to the dealer today because it had a transmission leak.

The answer I got was "It is a known Edge problem with no known solution and I would have to live with it".

I am in Alberta, Canada and they say Ford is working on the problem. He also said "there may be something available in the States but not Canada".

It seems ridiculous that nothing can be done to fix it and that it would make any difference if it is a Canadian Edge vs a U.S. Edge.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

  4. This is correct. It is located under the "floor" in the back and is in the space around your spare tire.

I have it on my Edge and have use it for an umbrella, ice scraper, emergency first aid kit, flashlight,

little tool kit and...um....I think that is it...lol.

I have posted before about the cargo cover. My back windows came tinted and I added 15% tint all around. That makes my back windows super dark (limo tint). I can't see into the back unless I press my face

against the back window and really strain to make out shapes.

I think a thief will look for an easier target.

  5. Hi - I see by the 2008 ordering guide there is a "cargo management system". I am hoping that this includes a cargo cover that was missing as an option on the 2007 model.

Can anyone comment if this is the case, or what exactly the cargo management system is?

I see some people are using the solution of a blanket thrown over the contents of their car.

To me, that just makes it more tempting for a break-in as it makes it obvious that you are hiding something valuable. The after market cargo cover clearly doesn't work either.

Just waiting on pricing and then I can order my 2008 Edge. Does anyone know when that will be available to the dealers?

  6. Here is a quote from media.ford.com

Edge offers even more choices for 2008 with the addition of the Limited Series, a new Interior Appearance Package that includes leather-trimmed seats with premium red seating surfaces and contrast stitching, a new 18-inch wheel option and new class-exclusive 20-inch wheels. Four new colors are available for 2008: Vapor Silver Clearcoat Metallic, Light Ice Blue Clearcoat Metallic, Dark Ink Blue Clearcoat Metallic and White Sand Tri-Coat.

Finally found a salesman today that would talk 2008s and not try and sell me a 2007.

He had all the order info except pricing which should be available in a couple of weeks.

The MKX will call PV code White Chocolate and the Edge will refer to PV as White Sand. Either way I should be able to order my White Edge Limited with 20" wheels very soon.

The red accent interior package is available with the red, silver and black edge. Sync is standard with the Limited model.

Thanks to everyone on the forum that helped.

  7. The lady from Ford was kind enough to call me!

White Chocolate and White Sand are the same colour (PV).

One was probably Lincoln and one was Ford.

Dealers should have order info for the 2008 Edge as of July 9.

Scheduling is August 16th and the first Edges will be built starting Sept 17!

Thanks to everyone that helped in figuring this out.

  8. Yes, the MKX came in White Chocolate Tri-Coat. That makes sense that they would now offer it in the Edge for 2008 - just like they did the power liftgate!

We may indeed be into the Dodge "In-Violet/Plum Crazy" scenario here.

Two names for the same colour.

Now I just need someone from Ford to confirm and I am ready to order my Edge.

I also notice that usually White sand is listed "White Sand Tri Coat Metallic" and chocolate is listed

White Chocolate Tri Coat (without the name Metallic) at the end.

MMMMM - need to check on that too.

Thanks everyone for helping me figure out all this. It will be 10 years before the dealers can tell me :)

  9. Interesting - Ford just responded to my e-mail and gave a paint code for White Sand Tri Coat Metallic.

They gave me PV, which you are saying is "White Chocolate Tri-coat. That supports your theory that they are the same colour!!! IF that is the case it makes traking one down a whole lot easier.

Thank you for contacting the Ford of Canada Customer Relationship Centre. We received your message sent on 7/10/2007 regarding your request for the paint code for the 2007 Explorer limited.

In an effort to assist you, I have looked into this request on your behalf. According to our resources the paint code for the 2007 Explorer Limited , color White Sand Tri-Coat is PV.

I hope this information proves to be informative. Thank you for your interest in our products.

If you have any other inquiries or concerns, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to address them.

Thank you for contacting Ford of Canada.

  10. I checked the 2007 Explorer brochure and it does list "white chocoloate tri-coat", but if you go to ford.ca, click on Explorer, build your vehicle, choose Limited for the model, "white sand tri coat definetly is there as a choice (not white chocolate). Same goes if you choose 2007 F150 Harley Davidson.

Not sure how I am going to figure out what this new colour is, so that I can put in an order! There won't be any on the lots here for months and months and they sure did not bring in all the 2007 colours.!! Hate to order a colour sight unseen.

The Edge is using the White Sand for 2008 as well as creme brulee. The complaint was that 2007 did not offer a white or a blue. They added both - too bad one blue is almost black, one blue is almost silver it is so light, and know one can figure out what exactly the "white sand" is.

  11. Thanks - I will try that - It is driving me nuts not being able to check out the new colours in person.

I have heard Ink Blue is VERY dark, and Ice Blue reminds me of my 85 year old mom's honda!!!!

I am quickly narrowing it down to White Sand but I would sure like to see it before I order.

Was it available on anything (in Canada) other than the Explorer 2007 Limited Edtion?? There is no way I can find one of those!

  12. That's funny. I asked 3 different salesman and was told there was nothing like a bluetooth on any 2007 model, even if you order one now. Maybe it is not available in Canada.

If the 2008 model is available in a few months that is great. i will wait for it and hope that I can get wireless cel without paying for the whole sync package.

  13. I did some research on the "sync" system that may be coming with the 2008 Edge

It looks like it’s a computer hard drive on your dash that does cell phone + Ipod + email + text messages + store music downloads +, +, +.

Not a simple Bluetooth for wireless cel. If that is the case it may have a hefty pricetag.

I was hoping for a simple bluetooth option for a reasonable add-on price.

  14. Wholesale for the reminder of the 07s should be starting up next week. As for 08 options, I know SYNC is coming, but not sure if it's available with 08 Job #1. Also, I can't confirm, but from the communications and discussions with my former co-workers, the center stack was to change like the 08 Escape with the modern knobs and such.

I highly doubt there will be a third row in the Edge. It's going to be cramped and you can get the third row on the Explorer, the Freestyle/Taurus X, and for 09 the "Fairlane." The Edge wasn't meant to haul a huge quantity of people.

And yes, ALL Edges will have the tan headliner. It's a costcutting measure. Look at just about any other Ford and the headliners are beige/tan despite the color of the interior.
