  1. Do you have all the records of how the past owner took care of the Edge before you bought it?  This might not be a Ford issue at all if the past owner did not take proper care of that engine.  Go on Redit and look at Justrolledintotheship to see how bad people take care of their cares and engines.  :(

The fact that those pics aren't of a Ford Edge Sport, I'd do an inspection before attempting any cleaning procedure, which carries risks.

I added the JLT at around 25K mi, and not going to bother with any inspection or cleaning, ......... when the spark plugs are due for changing, and the inlet manifold is removed for that, I'll inspect the intakes.

I was wondering if we had to do that.  Know on my wife's 3.5 Ecoboost you had to.  I had not seen a plug change on the 2.7 yet.

  3. Today at work with it being a holiday on Monday is slow. So got thinking about E30. Only issue is around my house I do not have anything for E85. From work I have a station about 2 miles down the road. Not finding much on the Edge and E30 but the Focus forms there is a lot of reading.

Just wondering have many of you tried running E30? If so are you running anything that shows how good your fuel mix is? Seeing the RS guys running a flex-fuel sensor and gauge. Not sure is there is a setup like this that will fit the Edge. I am going to keep reading up. Thought I would ask to see what we have done.

  4. It seems like Ford has changed coolants a lot in the life of the 3.5. From reading posts there was a Gold coolant, then green, and my wife's 2017 looks to have I think an orange color if I remember right. Has these been less failures as Ford has changed their coolants? Remember the old GM days of their coolant causing all kinds of fun.

  5. Got some good news. As we know Ford OEM and all other rear mudflaps do not fit the 15+ Sport as the rear bumper is a little different. I did some looking and I found a set on Ebay that said it was just for the for Sport. I gave it a try and guess what? If fits the Sport great! If you are wondering why I wanted these I live up in northern IL and we get a lot of salt on the road on winter. With out flaps you can get a lot of damage over the years to your paint.

So far just installed the rear. They feel good quality. Only debate I have is since these touch the paint do I want to put some 3m clean vinyl protection between them and the paint.

Xtra....Congrats on the install!...How long did it take? I will have to have a shop do mine and I would like to have a good idea as to the length of time for the install so they dont pad the labor cost (which is up around $125 per hour)

Mine took two hours to do. With a baby sleeping I did not turn on my large 60gal air compressor so it was all hand tools. That was from the time I pulled into my garage till the time I pulled out. I think I could do it in a hour if I did it again with air tools.

  8. I did not think the ecoboost engines had the same design or same problems. I'll have to check.

I know the trucks do not since their 3.5 Ecoboost motors are not transverse. They have a external water pump. If you can check that would be great. It seems like the 3.5 Ecoboost I have a hard time confirming info on. :(

  9. My Edge I have the 2.7 so i am lucky with the Edge. But my Wife has the 3.5 Ecoboost in her 2017 Explorer. This is my only major worry with her Explorer. We are planning on keeping it 8-10 year like our last cars. I do not mind doing coolant changes as they are not hard. But I have a very hard time disposing of the old coolant. All local part shops take Oil but not coolant. I have to find a very nice shop that will take my coolant knowing I am doing DIY work and not giving them business.

I am just wondering do dealers charge a lot for this service? Both the Edge and Explorer take the orange coolant. I do not want to mix unless I know I can get a complete flush out. This could be the first time going in for Ford service as I do my own oil changes. I will do most future service work myself.

  10. If I knew how to drag race well I would give this a try. Living in the Chicago area I have a few tracks in about a 2 hour or less drive. I just suck at it. My WRX I am about a second slower then a good driver behind the wheel. I know because I have had then get behind my wheel to show what the car can do. At best it is a 13.8 car. After tuning my 2018 Edge I am going to have something faster then the WRX and it will not look like it. :)

  11. Ok sway bar is installed. After a test drive it helped a lot with getting the handling a lot more neutral mostly mid corner to exit. Feel in entry it has helped keep the body roll down. The OEM bar with ends links and bracket on it weighs 11lbs. This new one weighs 17lbs before even adding anything in to it! The install was not too bad. For some reason the passenger side end link to the lower control arm was harder to get out then the drivers side.

    Only two complaints.

The black paint is very thin and scratches easy. Just getting feeding it through the back I saw some good scratches. Not sure if this will cause easy rusting.

Noticed these do not have the lateral locks that the OEM bars do to help prevent the bar for moving side to side. Thinking I might get these from whiteline. Just wondering what size bar is the new one?
