  1. Looks like if I want to have my 2018 tuned I have to change out the thermostat to 170deg from the OEM. From reading it looks like a real pain as you have to remove the motor mount. I am a very visual learning I like to watch videos before I do a DIY. Having never worked on the Ecoboost motors yet I want to learn. When trying to search for a DIY video all I come up with how to do it on a F150's. Does anyone know a good video for how to do it on the Edge or other model that needs the same steps as the Edge?

    Thank you,

  2. You would still have to buy a programmer/Tuner plus a Tune per octane.

This Tuner sells for anywhere between $300-$400.

Then you have to buy each Tune individually.

However you have to check with the Tuner of your choice for which Programmer/Tuner they want you to use, how much it costs and how much for each revision when you make a change.

However...if you in fact have a 2016-2018 Edge Sport and depending what was done to the motor so far and if your willing to chance it I'd be more than willing to leave the tunes on it that best match your build but I don't think custom Tunes can be shared because their VIN locked and of course this would be at your own risk... :hat_tip:

Thanks, I just got my 2018 Edge this month and the engine is still 100% stock. Think I am going to keep it like that for a while. Only thing I might change out right now in the air filter and get a K&N. Reason I was thinking of doing a off the shelf tune for right now.

  3. I am new to Ford for tuning. Know I need something to upload the tune. That is the reason this caught my eye.

I thought a new one comes with tunes on it for $400. If I got this I would have to buy tunes. Am I wrong with this thought?

  4. Seems like all the sales for Mobil 1 5w-30 6qt's are done for $27.99. :( Got it twice for my Wife's 3.5 Ecoboost. If I would have known I was going to buy the Edge that last time I got oil I would have stocked up now that I have two engines using the same oil.

  5. This was a interesting read. I just bought a 2018 Sport. I like the install of the JLT can kit a lot.

The current debate is if you need the oil for the valves and turbo?

It has been shown that the Catch can does help reduce the build up in the intake valves?

  6. I just got my 2018 Sport on Saturday. My wife has a 17 Explorer and I got to play with her Sync system a little. Now that I have Sync I am learning a lot more. What I can't find is a list of Apps that work with Sync and my Android phone. Is there a list I am not finding with Ford?

With having android so wish I did not have to run android Auto to get Waze to work.

    Thanks for your help

  7. Good to read. Just got a 2018 Sport and been wondering about Tunes. Coming from Subaru I am used to just having a tuner in the car to get my car setup. Sounds like for the Edge the off the shelf tunes do very well on the Edge.

I did not know being in Sport modes changes your shift points like they do. Dealer told me it was just for using the paddles to shift. I have not owned a Auto since 2003.
