  1. We are the original owners. Haven't taken it in to the dealer for this even though they have done all the warranty and what little service work it has needed. I'll do that...I just figured the shock/struts surely couldn't have gone bad already. We'll see and thanks for the suggestion.
  2. My 2008 Edge has 60,000 miles on it and rides like a Tank! It did this with the original tires and now II have Michlien LTX MS tires on it and they are inflated 2 lbs less than called for on the door jam. The car doesn't seem to bounce up and down when you push down on the fenders, so I don't think it;s worn out shocks. When you ride in the back seat and hit any little seam in the highway it just bangs. I am begunining to think it's just the way these short wheel base cars ride but it gets old driving on a concrete highway...bang...bang...bang at every seam. Does anyone know of any suspension changes that would soften the ride or am I just stuck?
  3. I have raised this question before and still not happy with the ride of my 08 Edge SEL. The car came with the Michelin Latitude Tour HP. At 44,000 miles I changed to the Michelin Latitude Tour and didn't get any better ride with those. I cut a deal with the tire store and now have the Michelin LTX-MS. They ride a little better than the other two but the car still rides harsh. I was hoping for a softer ride from one of these but not so. Frustrated I went to the Ford dealer and drove a used 08 Edge and a used 2010 Edge to see how they rode...same thing! I understand that the Edge does not have a full length frame and this is a short wheel base vehicle but I can't imagine why Ford would not produce the Edge to have a smoother ride. My main complaint is driving on the highway. You can feel most seams with a bang, bang, bang. According to the dealer there is nothing wrong or wore out with the struts and shocks and this is just the way the Edge rides. Anyone with the same thoughts and anyone with any suggestions to improve the ride?
  4. After 40,000 miles on my wife's 2008 Edge I replaced the Michelin Latitude HP tires with Michelin LTX_MS tires. I made my decision after reading reviews on Tire Rack and opinions form forum members, plus I had been pleased with them on a 2003 F-150 that I used to have. The thing I am wondering about now, is it time after 46,000 miles on the car to be looking into replacement shocks? A couple of things lead me to ask for help in this are...#1 I don't drive my wife's car much but was hoping the tires would ride softer. It seems that they hit the seams in the highway harder than I was expecting. I debated between the LTX-MS, the plain Latitude Tour and the Continental's. Yes, they are at correct PSI. #2..Used to be that you checked shocks by bouncing the front end up and down but frankly I don't know if that is still a way to check absent of any visible oil leaks. #3...I am not sure now If I haven't put the wrong tires on the Edge? I sure could use some advise before I go to the tire store and discuss this with them. I want to go with some knowledge and hopefully not get smoke blown up my skirt! Lastly...IF...I get into struts and shock replacement, what would be a good brand, etc, etc to put on that would give me the best, as in a soft ride? Hopefully I'll here form someone who has "been there, done that" and what their results were. Thanks for any help.
  5. Thanks The OEM tires get mixed reviews at tire rack with hardly any negative comments on the LTX-MS. Puls I don't think the Latitude tour HP should have wore out at 44 or so thousand miles and they have generated a lot of road noise. Thanks for your input.
  6. My wifes car (2008 Edge ) came with Michelin Latitude Tour HP 245/60/R18 tires. Now after 43,000 they need to be replaced. I am leaning real hard toward the Michelin LTX-MS because I have had it on a different vehicle before and it comes in that size. I would appreciate some input from those that have tried this tire on the Edge or input on a different tire you have used. Thanks

  8. Pull up the Michelin web site. I think you will find the LTX-MS tire in the size you are looking for?
  9. That's interesting! The Mich LTX-MS is the first one for me to consider. Like I said, I had them on a pick-up and loved them. How do the handle on the front wheel drive Edge?
  10. I have a 2008 Edge that we bought new and now has 39,000 miles on it. I have long questioned the amount of road noise the car generates. I wondered more after buying a 2010 Ford F-150 which is quiet as a church mouse. I understand the two vehicles are different, as in wheel base and front wheel drive but would like some opinions. The Edge came with Michelin P-245/60 R18 Latitude Tour HP that get rotated every 6000 miles and are holding up very well. It just seems that there is more road noise than what I would like. I read somewhere that the Latitude regular tire rather than the HP was more quiet? Any opinions or experience with other tires on the Edge would be appreciated. Is it the tires OR the nature of the car? Thanks
  11. Please explain the Ultima Interior Guard Plus...what is it...what does it fix and where do you get it? Thanks
  12. I have a 2008 Edge and the glare is not bad. The only trouble I have is around dusk and then there isn't enough lighting to easly see the gauges. However...if you think you have a problem...try a 2009, 2010 and 2011 Ford F-150 on for size. there is so much glare on the gauges it is hard to make them out sometimes, ESPECIALLY the area above the center stack where the radio, time, direction etc gauges are...Impossible to see most of the time during the day!! If anyone has a cure for that, I'd like to hear it.
