  1. Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction… The radio can be powered on even with the key out of the ignition and drains 2 amps at all times. I changed the ignition switch and it didnt help. Anyone else have this issue? Not sure what is allowing the radio to get power with the key out? Im afraid it may be the BCM or instrument cluster going bad. Havent changed the key cylinder though. Any ideas? 2013 SE
  2. Threw some new larger AT tires on my 13. Check it out. I love these things! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0mN43LOFhk
  3. I need help! A couple of months back, I noticed a small amount of coolant lost from the tank. It was probably a 1/4 inch below the full when cold line so not too bad. I filled it up with water and it eventually was lost again and not back to the same level. I recently noticed my heater is warm along with defroster, both use to be hot. Last, I kind of notice a small odor of fish or urine when I run the heater or defroster for a few seconds. I then felt what I believe is the coolant inlet hose (top hose) in the engine bay that goes to the heater core. It was warm. The bottom hose which I believe is the outlet hose was HOT. Im not sure if this is a sign of a bad heater core or water pump issue since the top hose isn't very hot. Im assuming that maybe the pump isn't pumping much coolant to the heater core but not sure why I would smell coolant. Any ideas? It's a 2013 Edge SE with 91k on the odo. Im considering renting a coolant pressure tester to test the heater core but not sure if that would work with the engine cold and thermostat closed.
  4. Spoke too soon.. Noise is back lol. I think it's a compatibility issue between KYB struts and the Motorcraft strut mount. When I spray WD40 into the rubber well where the strut passes through to the nut, the noise goes away for a few hours.
  5. Cant picture that.. Photos of the DIY would probably help more people.
  6. It depends, what are your plans for the vehicle? Sell it soon or keep it several years? Your finances, can you afford the $1500 to have it done? Personally, I plan on keeping my Edge a LONG time. With that said, I would change mine out if I could afford it. Ive got about 85k on mine and would like to do it before 100k.
  7. I came across this while working on the suspension. There is a hose that connects from the back of the thermostat housing that appears to be a gap. Is this normal or should the hose go back further? This is not the main hose that goes to the radiator.
  8. Problem appears to be fixed. After doing a little more research, others that had the same complaint simply loosened the nut to release some tension on the strut bearing resolved the problem. I ended up spraying some wd40 on the nut/grommet and then loosened the nut by one thread. No more noise. Ill update this thread if it comes back. So far so good!
  9. Thanks. Just waiting on better weather to remove this and inspect it. Ill let ya know what I find if I find it.
  10. I actually did use vise grips to prevent the piston from turning when I initially installed it. When you say I cant use vise grips, why not? Hopefully I didnt damage something but when I removed the vise grips I didnt observe any dents or damage.
  11. Yep, new Motorcraft strut mounts and KYB struts. Re used the old coil.
  12. Thanks.. Thats probably it. I actually re-used the bolt from my motorcraft on the KYB. I cant remember why though.
  13. I recently replaced the right front strut and strut mount. KYB strut and Motorcraft strut mount. I now hear a creeking type noise when I turn the wheel. Ill admit, I tightened the hell out of the mounting bolts as well as the bolt on the strut mount. Torque wrench broke during the job. Could over tightening it be the cause of the noise? The strut mount appeared in good condition when I installed it. Not sure what else could be causing this.
