I changed the RDU fluid, and the rumbling noise is gone! It's hard to believe just a simple fluid change would do it, but it did.
-
I changed the PTU oil this afternoon, like the RDU it was a piece of cake. If you have a stubby 3/8" ratchet it will help to get the fill plug out but it's not necessary. The oil was a light pancake syrup color and smelled just like gear oil. I put Valvoline Advanced Pure Synthetic 75w-85 in and it was lighter than what came out but not by a lot.

Just changed the rear diff fluid. It's a piece of cake. The fill plug's in a tight spot but a wobble socket extension made easy work of it. Went up front and checked to see if there's drain plug on the PTU and there is, just as shown in the YT video. I bought the vehicle when it had 28K on it three years ago so I'm not sure if it's already been replaced.

Here's the video, and yes, I did not look at my PTU yet.
-
The video I watch was for a 2020 Edge (same as what I have) there was a drain plug.
-
Thanks. Just watched a YT video and it's looks like a pretty simple process. It only takes 12+_ ounces?
-
Okay, dumb question but what is the PTU that everyone's referring too?
-
I really appreciate your help. How do I do a proper update if my display says I have current updates?
-
So does it sound like It's up to date based on the message for today's date?
-
I had no idea you could do the updates from the display. I just went and checked, and it said the updates are current as of today's date 8-22-26. When I touch the Scan for Updates button I get the spinning circles. How long should I have to wait to see what updates might come up? It is connected to WIFI.
-
I'm not the original owner and there are no open recalls for my Edge. Does that mean the software update's probably been done already?
-
Yep, park in the same place every night. No spots or drips on the floor. When I wipe it with my finger it's wet but doesn't really have much of a smell. The drain and fill plugs are tight and no evidence of leaking.
-
Here's a pic I just took from the driver's side. The area circled is where there's a light coating of fluid.

I have a 2020 Edge and it's starting to make the rumbling sound when making a slow right turn. I crawled under and noticed the front of the rear diff is a little damp with oil. Is that also indicative that the Active Torque Coupling Unit is starting to fail? The video above is for I think he said a 2013 is the process the same for the 2020? Thanks for any help.

What's the correct rear diff fluid for a 2020 Edge and where did you get it from? Thanks
-
Sorry to hop in your thread but I'm having an issue too. '20 Titanium and neither front seat has heat. The heated seat buttons light up but the seats don't get warm. I checked the fuse under the hood and it's fine.
-
Where did you get yours?
-
Has anyone here tried any of "seat gap fillers" that you see advertised? I'm talking about the thing you put between the seat and the console to keep things from falling down that gap.

Got the bill and they charged me for 4.5 quarts of ULV. How many quarts does it hold? The trans shifts fine without any issues.
-
Had it in the garage for a drain and fill yesterday. Didn't get the bill yet so not sure how much they were able to replace. Drove it today and the hunting, jerking, stuttering that I mentioned above is gone. I'll let you know what they did when I can.
-
It has 75,000 miles on it and the transmission fluid's never been changed. Just normal driving but mostly interstate so haven't been rough on it. Lately I've noticed a slight hunting, jerking, stuttering, whatever you want to call it at low speeds (under 40mph) but only when the transmission isn't up to temperature. Once it warms up it's fine. It's going into the local garage next week for a drain and fill so hopefully that will help. Watched some videos on YT and a few of them added Instant Shudder Fix. Not planning to add it unless someone here has had some experience with it.

Thanks for your reply atulo. What does Ford recommend?

2020 Edge AWD 2.0, What's the recommended mileage to change the transmission fluid?

Today I noticed on the left information display the message, Check Headlamp System or Check Headlamp System, see owner's manual. I checked the owner's manual and there's nothing that I could find. The message went away when I pressed OK. Any idea what this might mean?

Hello Biker. Have you had a chance to ask your dealer?
