Own a 2015 Ford Edge SEL and the rear window completely shattered for no reason yesterday morning. Rear window defroster was not working or the wiper. Husband came home from work in the morning and the window was fine. Went back out to move car and once I closed the driver door the entire rear window shattered. I brought my car to the Oakridge Ford dealership where I purchased it. They told me they have heard of this happening with the Edge but no recall so Ford won't cover it. They said they think what happens is that the rear defroster overheats and does not turn off properly and that causes the window to shatter. I now have to put a claim through my insurance for it to be replaced. Does not make much sense when Ford knows this is happening. Seems like a default to me. I bought their extended warranty that they told me covered everything but surprise does not cover the glass shattering for no apparent reason. There were no chips in the window or cracks. Was not even the coldest day we have had yet this winter. Makes no sense and I am completely frustrated. Don't think I will ever buy another Ford.
