  1. yup we use lexol since forever,

    all of our vehicles

its actually still very pliable and not dried out,

we have only had this one since 2018 so it took a bit of cleaning to get her looking great.

seat back and seat pan right were you rub getting in is starting to flake the coloring off.

she likes this car and refuse to let me get her a new one, so i keep it as close to perfect as possible

  2. I bought a kit for removing the dreaded nasty headlight lense issue we all have had on various cars
this is my wifes 2012 edge
i have recently polished the plastic with plastic polish, and got allot of the crazing out of the lenses, but still was not happy, even tried alum wheel  polish to not avail. still left crazing in the lenses and weird light at night
    i stumbled upon cerakote https://www.walmart.com/ip/CERAKOTE...e31PI-lA2T2IlzWKu14aAvDXEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

i had read some reviews and figured hey 13 bucks i will give it try
it took just over 2hrs to get all the shine off and scratches blended, but i am impressive .
just need to see how long it lasts. directions say its fixed forever??/ we shall see
prep is everything, i hand polished with the included 3000 and 4000wet sand paper for easily over hr to get the shine off. key is following the directions and cleaning and drying to see if all the shine is off and scrathces are gone, plus it has to be DRY DRY DRY before the ceramic coating is applied
    behold
yes the before pics look good, but the scratches are there are as the crazing
yes wear gloves because the stuff on the wipes is eye watering toxic

pics below are after i polished them with alum wheel polish and then washed them real good before the start of the restoration

  3. ditto on maint history

you can also download it through ford pass.

our 2012 was purchased with 50k miles on it in 2019.  we bought a FORD ESP warranty  /  3/36

i had the coolant flushed and new put in.  trans also flushed and new fluid.

that was first up . then i had a brake master cylinder thing replaced under customer campaign. as no body could say if it was done or not.   we were having loss of brake pressure.

then my wife has driven it and we just turned over 80k miles , it has had regular oil changes, two new front struts under ESP  FORD warranty,  a rear camera under warranty and i just bought another 3/36 ford esp warranty to carry it through 110k miles, it was actually cheap, less than 1200 dollars and 100 deduct.

2 weeks ago i had all brake pads changed, and new rotors on rear and turned the fronts at ford and some caliper things were covered under warranty  we think they were original brakes on rear.  no record of them being changed at a ford place

we have had ZERO mechanical issues,  car runs great and gets 21.6 mpg at real texas speeds 75mph or more.

doing new cabin sound deadening next week and ordered new front seat skins (katskins) seats are starting to show wear lines

my wife loves it, she had a 1st gen when they came out.

this one is tri color white limited.

i did put new tires on it last feb as we had 24k on the coopers and they were getting harsh with the ride

i have two small places on fender from rock chips that need painting,

i really need to find 2 replacement chrome pvd wheels, as she wont let me put aftermarket wheels on it.  the chrome is peeling in a few places real small

next big ticket is replacing spark plugs, been quoted 700 because the intake has to come off to reach the rear plugs, and of course that means all new seals and o rings on the intake and a few new vacuum lines and i figure replace coil packs while its torn down.

  4. odd looking for certain. like a bently front end got crammed onto a volvo then a saab threw up.

they should have named it something than mustang

estimate 50k units annual production and a small portion were the first edition. bet first edition is 2500 units or less.

  5. what year is the edge?

ours is a 2012, i installed a 12v feed from the motorhomes 7 pin trailer connector. it feeds a 15 amp live to the battery.

and i also ran a dedicated 12v line to the aux brake device.

ours is push button start and you do not have to have nay thing on. just place car in N and plug in the brake device and your umbilical to power the rear lights and turn signals. i used a direct plug and play harness that plugs into the rear lights and you then run the wire back up front to the umbilical connection , mine is made by HOPPY and i sourced all the parts at etrailer.com

  6. in our 2016 expedition the updates over wifi happen often and with no issue

i did however just spend 45 or so minutes updating via a stick drive the 2012 edge from files i downloaded at my ford site, no one ever did any updates since 2011 when it was built....but its up to speed now

i only notice in the expy if an update went in because my interior light colors change back to default blue.

  7. kind of severe to say no more fords.

I have had four with sunroofs a 2010, 2013 f150s an 2016 expedition and the 2012 edge...all with glass up top.

the 13 failed but not the glass, just the opening guts

rock chip....must be some weird rocks flying around...we have lots of gravel on our state roads and we do not follow close at all.

i have a few chips from LARGE rocks 1" in diameter. but no sun roof glass failures.

be stern with ford and call the 800 line and get people on board. 5k miles....seems odd...but anything can happen

  8. when i was installing the tow bar base plate, i had to remove the battery to gain access to a firewall grommet. i discovered the positive battery cable attachment clamp to be rusted and in no way salvageable or able to tighten it. in fact it wiggled and popped off.  in fact i was lucky it had not come undone while driving.

so i priced a new harness...wow over 400. but i didnt need a new harness. so i used a marine clamp on terminal and attached all the bolt on harness wires to it.

funny thing is i finally was able to track down the previous owner, she is an elderly lady.  she told me she sold it because of errant electrical issues. I asked about the cable and she told me the ford place wanted over 1200 to replace the cable . she didnt want to spend the money and traded the edge in.

so for less than 20 i fixed it..

maybe in a few weeks i will order the harness and change it out to get the factory battery post connector...but its a hard sell as the only thing corroded beyond use is the terminal end that clamps on the battery
