  1. Thanks for the replies! I replaced the purge valve just now - next day delivery at local auto parts store and super easy to replace. Hopefully that cures the issue, if not I’ll look into the canister. I don’t ever add extra gas to top it off. Could the bad purge valve also lead to an oily smell? I’ve noticed that sometimes when the car is warming up in the driveway, but haven’t found any sign of oil leaks. Thanks!
  2. Hello, I've got a 2016 AWD Edge Sport (2.7Turbo) with 60k miles. I've noticed a problem over the past several months - after putting gas in the car, the idle starts stumbling. It acts a lot like a vacuum leak, but ONLY ever appears when idling after putting in gas. Happens whether I put in a full tank, or a bit, whether the tank was nearly fully empty or if it was halfway or so full. It will sometimes continue at a stoplight after pulling out from the gas station, but after any driving further than that, I never notice any idle issues. This has happened with many different brands of gas, and octane ratings (I usually put in 93, but not exclusively). It seems like the stumbling has been getting more noticeable lately. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Thanks! ive yet to really get under the car and look around; if I see signs of leaking from the PTU, would that generally be cause for warranty work? I’m not sure how generous or stingy dealers tend to be with this kind of known issue part.
  4. Hello, i just recently bought a 2016 Edge Sport AWD with 30,000 miles. Unfortunately, it was about one month out of its bumper to bumper warranty when I purchased, but still has 23 months and 20,000 or so on the powertrain warranty. I was kinda disheartened to read about all the PTU issues after I purchased. I’m happy to replace with higher-grade fluids and change more frequently, but my main question is; should I expect to be able to have this part inspected, repaired, or replaced under my powertrain warranty? I was hoping there would would be an informative sticky thread with general info about the issue, but since there’s not, can anyone give me a concise summary of what I should look for to indicate that problems may be arising, and how to best tackle that within the structure of my warranty? i appreciate any help or advice that anyone can give. Thanks, Jason
  5. Thanks for the input! I suppose I will try an update first, can’t hurt right? a few quick questions: -the video mentions you should do it when you’re replacing your “api (?)” since you’ll already have the dash apart; what is that? -does anyone have links to the correct USB hub part, or a correct part number? I don’t want to accidentally get the same thing again. -any tips on pulling the dash apart? I’m definitely not eager to break anything and introduce unnecessary rattles into the cabin. Thanks!
  6. Hello, Just got a new-to-me 2016 Edge Sport. I want to get Apple CarPlay up and going, but I am unclear if it is just a software update needed, or hardware. Can anyone help steer me in the right direction? thanks!!
  7. Thanks, that’s a huge help! I didn’t realize there was a infotainment generation upgrade in the model years. Can anyone outline how different sync 2 and sync 3 are, or give me a good link to read on?
  8. Hello all, I'm new here. I'm considering buying a ford edge sport with the 2.7 ecoboost engine. I drove a new 2018 yesterday at the dealer and was overall pretty impressed with it; unfortunately, although they were offering really good incentives to move the 2018 models, it was still beyond my budget. Locally there are some 2015 models, with the AC seats and sunroof (must-have options for me), with 30-40k miles, priced around $24,000 which is right in the sweet spot for me budget wise. I hope this isn't in the wrong place, but I wanted to see if there was a place for me to see, in detail, any changes between the model years that might affect my decision. The dealer sales rep told me that the 2018 models added Apple Car Play, which I would like to have, but the ~$13,000 price difference from a 2015 with reasonable miles to a new 2018 seems really steep, unless there are other changes I'm missing. Also curious what feedback there is regarding common problems with the car, and thoughts on general overall reliability. Anything I should be specifically watching out for on a used purchase? Thanks in advance, Jason
