I use an 07 ford edge, I noticed engine compartment always hotter than normal if I drive. Diagnosed with my scanner and no error message on engine except bad O2 sensors and temperature guage does not rise above normal .

I checked the rpm today. I was in a park position and raised the rpm while I turned left to right. it was very free.

Another part dealer asked me to buy another pump. 

it's a 2007 edge. the fluid level is not full. I will have to check my oil dealer if he has valvoline Maxlife.

It is hard on both right and left

What year Edge?  Is the fluid full?  Looks clean & healthy?  Then I suggest you try replacing it completely / flushing with Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic ATF, which is mercon V compatible.  Hope it is available where you are.

 

Is it more effort turning in one direction vs another?  Does the effort level go away with higher RPMs turning lock to lock while parked and idling?

I replaced my power steering pump and I had to work on my steering rack to stop oil leaks.

I use Mecron V as indicated on my manual, still my steering gets hard to turn. it's only free if I have parked the vehicle for some hours, after a while driving it becomes hard to turn.

yea you are right. it's the rubber boot I replaced on the CV axle. in Nigeria we are prone with water logged roads and this parts seem to wear off easily. I replaced the rubber boot and the light came on. though I have used it that way for over 2 months. thanks paulschott.

I took my 07 ford edge to a technician to replace the rubber on my camshaft. After the repair I noticed ABS, traction and wrench light showing on the dashboard. We checked the ABS sensor and it is intact. Could this be a wrong setting on the tone ring?
