  1. To answer the "why" question, I thought it was the seat belt alert on the dash. It turns out it was the airbag light (wasn't wearing my glasses). My only shot was to connect the seat belt since the light (I thought) was on. Going home from work the airbag light was out and the check engine light went out as well. Driving into work the next day, same thing. Engine went to idle. Very unsettling. Airbag light came on. Click the seat belt and it went out - check engine light is still on. I have an appointment at the dealer tonight (if I make it).

  2. 2016 Edge - I was driving at about 50 mph when the engine lost power. The dash said "See Manual" and the seat belt light came on. The engine was idling with no throttle response. I drifted to the side of the road, shut down the engine and restarted. Still no throttle response. Then I clicked the seat belt on the passenger seat (which was empty) and the throttle response immediately returned. I completed the drive to work without further incident. Now the seat belt light is off but the check engine light is on.

Is this related to the throttle body discussion or is this a sensor issue? Any ideas?

  3. Is this the TSB for the seal breaking loose? My roof rattles after 600 miles. It is really bugging me. Does anybody have the actual TSB number?

Do you have a Vista rook?? If yes, it's not your windshield it's the vista roof. I have a 08 limited AWD and it does it all the time. My dealer says they can't find why it's doing it. I found a TSB on this site for the fix for vista roofs but for 07 model. So the next time I bring it in for service I plan on providing my dealer with details how to fix the issue. very silly.
  4. I had an aftermarket starter (Viper) installed. It is two-way and works within 2000 feet. The two-way tells me when the car is starting or stopping, the temperature inside the car, and the time remaining on the timer. I can also activate the rear defroster from the remote. $375

You can use it to control other things, like turning on your heated seats, lock/unlock doors, etc. I didn't have those things installed.

Go with aftermarket and have it installed by a reputable installer. You get much more for your money.

  5. I have a 2008 MKX, does anybody have a problem with the idle after warm up when sitting at a traffic light I feel vibrations in

    the steering wheel, very annoying.

RPM checked by the dealer is 600, they ran all the checks & found nothing wrong. If I feather it up to 700-750 RPM it goes away.

The dealer said they can not up the idle that is all set by the computer.

I went to the dealer the other & test drove a 2009 model no problem & the idle was 750 on the tach.

Please advise if any body has had a similar problem or any fix to my problem.

I have an 09 Edge and I also get a slight vibration in the steering wheel at idle. It is slight but I find myself taking my hands off the steering wheel at lights, so maybe it isn't so slight. It seriously bugs me.

  6. interesting... of all the things to change.. I wonder why they changed those. still think it would be possible, but maybe new pin setup has to be figured out for 2009.

FWIW.. the picture above of "your switches" are actually MKX switched, not Edges.

They still look like they will light up. When I get a chance I will pull down the panel and see what is behind it.

  7. ha ha.. I am working on a little something new right now that is keeping me busy.. parts are on the way as you read this

I see no reason why the 'idea' would not work. not sure what you mean by "different switches"? what, they look different? have you actually followed that thread and pulled down the switches and flipped them over, pulled them apart, to see the pins and motherboard with the little LEDs, etc? That is how to determine if this mod will work for you. I would be hard pressed to believe they would change MBs, pins and pigtail attachments - the real key to this mod - but then again, I am surprised to hear you say "completely different switches". either way, the theory is still sound, it just may require a different set of pins to turn on the feature. so I would suspect it would work, but you need to look a the guts of your switches, not the outside look of them, to find out.

I will pull it down and look. Here is what I mean by "completely different switches".

  8. Sorry bbf but now you are wrong. Rust build up can and does cause a vibration when braking if it has built up for long enough. Sometimes a few very hard stops will clean the rotors, but not always. If that doesn't work then he needs to take it in to the dealer. They may be able to "deglaze" the rotors or they may need to be turned. I have seen this many times with vehicles that sat on the lot in the same position for a long time. Either way the dealer can fix it and it will be free.

Turn the rotors on a car with 100 miles on it. That would not happen if it was my car. It would be new rotor time. By the way, my 2009 Edge brakes grind every morning for the first touch. Then the rust is gone. What is different on this vehicle from others?
