Ok so we have a 2012 Ford Edge, and after we had the high pressure power steering hose changed, due to leaks under car, the car had a very subtle but irritating whine at low rpms or while turning at a light or stop sign. The whine would get louder as we accelerated. So I searched for the answers and took it back to the shop and the ASE certified mechanics couldn’t tell me what was wrong they started pointing the pump was bad but I didn’t buy that. So in the end I ordered a factor “Motor craft Ford OEM hose” once I replaced it and put “Motor Craft Mercon V” in the power steering system. No more whine! Smooth quite drive now.
If your experiencing this ask the shop guys if they used OEM parts or not.
