Newbie - Removed Stereo and has a question...

Just replaced the stock deck with an aftermarket unit. I believe that plug is for a factory installed sub if equipped. Mine has it. Question I have is once I installed the new deck, now i get a pop when the sub amp turns on... and its almost like there is a delay and a surge... anyone ever had this happen before?
