  1. I have an older Beltronics remote mount system in my '08 Edge and love it. I though I'd offer the following for sale here. I have a brand new, factory sealed Qi45 Remote Mount radar detector for sale along with a new, factory sealed Escort Laser Shifter Pack. These are not refurbs. I will sell these separately. If you will check the price of Blinder or Laser Interceptor laser protection systems and also check the price of high end detectors, you will appreciate what a bargain this system is. The Qi45 has the same antenna system as the Passport 8500 X50 & the 9500IX ( obviously not the GPS like the 9500Ix, but the Escort M4 radar platform) so it's a premium detector. The antenna/receiver mounts in the grill or in the front bumper area and a single wire runs back to the inside of the car. The interface unit mounts under the dash out of sight. The display/controller is very small, about 2 inches long by 1 inch high, and mounts within view of the driver. The Laser Shifters mount in the front of the car. The wiring for the shifter heads has a simple connector on the end and you just plug the wire into the radar antenna/receiver at the front of the car. There are no wires that run to the inside of the car for the shifter heads, it's plug and play with a single wire for each head running to the radar antenna. The shifter heads will work with the Escort Qi45, 8500CI, & 8500CI Plus. Although the shifter heads are the same internally as the Escort ZR4 heads, they use a different connector. They are not compatible with ZR3, ZR4 systems and are not compatible with Blinder, Laser Interceptor or other laser protection systems. Price is $615 for the entire system, including free shipping to the Continental U.S. Qi45 Radar Detector alone - $410 with free shipping to the Continental U.S. Escort Shifter Pack alone - $205 with free shipping to the Continental U.S. I have a 100% feedback rating on ebay with over 640 transactions since 1998. Send me a PM or reply here and I'll get back to you and we can discuss details. PayPal for payment, or we can work out local delivery and payment if you're in the Atlanta area.
  2. Thanks. I have not done the wiring yet. I had ordered a multi-meter which I needed to bias an amp, and I was going to use it to check the mirror wiring also, but your info is just what I was looking for.
  3. Thanks for the advice, but I had actually done the search before I posted the question (not out of the question that I missed a post, but I did try searching beforehand). I came across one post where a guy had said he did this, and he advised using a multimeter to find which wires to use. I knew the multimeter was a sure way to find the wires, I was just wondering if someone would be able to say "the black/green wire is switched 12v" for example, so I wouldn't have to run to Radioshack for the multimeter. I was also thinking that if someone did respond, it would be here for the next guy looking to do this. When I do the wiring I'll be sure to return and post the details on which wires.
  4. I have an 08 Edge SE. I'm thinking of hardwiring a radar detector, drawing power from the rearview mirror (there is custom made wiring available, complete with connectors for the detector). To do this I would need ideally to connect to a wire with switched power, and a ground wire. My Edge has the Sync option, btw. After unplugging the wiring bundle going into the back of the mirror, it looks like there are two rows of connections with several wires on the top row of connectors, and two on the bottom. One of those on the bottom is a completely bare wire, which kind of surprised me. Anyone tried to do something similar? I'm just looking for some info on which wire might be switched 12v (assuming there is one) and which is ground? I'm going to using Invisicord to do this, just in case anyone has used the same product.
