computer crashed bigtime.  haven't built one since 2014, so it took a while to regain my footing. still on windows 7 lol, will be migrating to 10 soon. the wife's office was giving away some machines, and am real happy we nabbed some!  lot of custom configuration, but it is up and running and working beautifully.

I’m in the same boat you are haha, had a MacBook Pro from 2015 and it up and died on me so now I’m typing on an iPad lol.

I just finished putting a finish coat on the new wood base for the Patch mold just in case the kit idea takes off . I need to make a good patch part for mine anyway, even if the kit idea flops.

I added 3/4 inch plywood all around to increase the base size. That way there is more plastic available to cover the mold. If it is not enough I will have to rebuild the wood base from scratch .

So I have to find the top half of the airbox from ford to use with the kit?

Thinking about it, I can still get the filters, and I have the elbow reducers sorted out. I would have to make an entirely new Air Box and not use any over the shelf parts except for the filter. This is a huge setback. Almost back to square one.  Ironic,  if this project does continue it would be the third version that would make it into production,  hence ... V3.  Man,  this took the wind out of my sails. So close, yet so far. I have invested several thousand so far in development costs and countless hours of work.  The V3 was going to cost somewhere around $550 to $600 bucks  ( Just a guess at this point )  and at that price I would have to sell a hundred just to make my money back.

Do you have venmo so we can support you during this?

Since I'm immature, I had to order a Boomba. Don't have any plans to modify this car heavily, so just a little extra sound. Had read that you wouldn't hear this all that much with normal driving. Well, I take a lot of highways to work. Surprisingly, you hear this quite a bit on the highway. Weather it be just cruising along or trying to pass another car. Windows down, music low, it's pretty obvious. If your windows are up, average music volume and AC blowing on setting 2-3, you just faintly hear it. Over all, for $60, worth it! See how long I have it on before I get annoyed with it!

Here's a list of the parts that I'll be installing in my 2017 Ford Edge Sport with Sony 12 Speaker / Sub system.
Started off with the Sub & amp and of course not happy with the sound, just upgrading the sub & amp in the factory locations wasn't enough.
I'll be upgrading the amps, wiring, and sound deadning to have control over the sound / DSP.
I should start this weekend with Stage 2 and I'll take pictures detialing out as much as I can. I wanted to utilize all the fatory speaker location, I know it's over kill and not necessary but I did it anyway.

    Stage 1

Prototype parts are being molded this week, and testing will begin soon after. I know that the testing will take a few weeks.  I can't say exactly when the V3 will be available,  if you follow this thread you will be one of the first to know when the V3 air box and filter will become available. I regularly post updates on progress, and I am committed to getting the V3 into production ASAP.  Thanks for your interest.

No thank you for doing this! This is awesome stuff you're working on.

I upgraded to SYNC 3.4 plenty of benefits. The reward is worth the risk and it's definitely not for the faint of heart!  You can not roll back to your previous version of SYNC because 3.4 utilizes an entirely different format process.

Personally I have not tried to roll back to my previous version of SYNC. I do believe that one can nuke and pave the drive and then install a previous version of SYNC.

3.4 runs faster than 3.0. It is more responsive. Feels like a new head unit.  The biggest benefit of is that you get the 118 map update for free!

Waze is not a native app. You still have to connect your phone to use Waze on Carplay and Android Auto.  I have not tried to import a custom back ground. Not sure if you can or can not.  You can access the test/diagnostic menu and change themes. If you change a theme it will revert back to normal when you restart the edge. The only way to permanently enable a theme is to do so via forscan.

Some users have complained/ mentioned that they do not have icons for Sirius xm stations.  If that is important to you then you may want to reconsider upgrading via this method.

The process can take up to 30 minutes using usb 3.0. Play with the features and give it a few minutes then do a master reset.

Is there another tutorial on this somewhere? The link mentioned earlier no longer works..

There are several good reviews for several tuners. At the end of the day, it comes down to where you want to spend your money and how much you want to spend. I have an Unleahsed 93 and E50 tune, both of which are incredible. Ask 10 different people with 10 different tuners and you'll get 10 different answer on which is best. I would tune for the highest gasoline octane readily available in your area, and if you're feeling squirrely, you could get and ethanol blend tune.

    Alright, thank you!

  9. My car is 100% stock at the moment I'm wondering if I should get a ZFG tune or if there is another kind that is better. I'm also wondering can I run 90 or 87 octane fuel with one of these tunes? Thanks.

Unless you've done significant modifications to the engine, intake and exhaust that has increased the capable mass flow that the engine can ingest, the stock OEM filter is more than capable of handling the maximum air flow without the pressure drop across it becoming a limiting factor on performance, while protecting the engine from damaging particulate.

Oh, alright, thanks for your help!

This drop-in  works best for me.

Your choice will depend a lot on what you're expecting from an air filter - what would that be?

I was hoping to get a little more airflow than the OEM filter, I read in one of the other forums that the OEM filter restricts airflow and I could see a slight increase in performance if I got one of the other options.

I can't offer comment on the tune, but can confirm that it will void warranty if an attempting to claim for damage that could remotely have been caused by the tune, which means that just about everything could be rejected.

Alright, I'll probably just wait a while before messing with a tune then to keep that warranty. Thanks.
