Hello,
New to the forum, and I'm at my wits end with my wifes 2017 Edge Sport. Bought brand new, and after a while (I can't even remember how soon after purchasing that this started happening), the vehicle would shut down and violently brake to a stop and enter what I would call a "limp mode". All vehicle dash warning lights would flash (literally ALL of them) and I would have to slowly pull over, shift into part, shut ignition off, then re-start. This would typically happen while pulling into traffic, and at WOT. Pulling into traffic and having this happen was scary enough, but it has also happened while attempting to merge onto a freeway (so far twice). I've taken it to the dealership, and below is what I've been told during each visit:
Visit 1: Said it was a faulty throttle wiring harness which they replaced. Still encountered stalling problem.
Visit 2: Because I had my winter tires on (which are 17" diameter vs the OEM 21" diameter) they insisted it was throwing off my accidence avoidance sensors... funny, I worked with OEM ADAS engineers and they said that should not be the case...
Visit 3: New dealer. Warranty winding down. New dealer said to leave it there and they would try and replicate. They kept for three days, were unable to replicate. I said, let me try, and I could not replicate. I take it home and on way home it happens again.
Visit 4: Same dealer that tried to replicate. States they cannot do anything unless they can replicate (I understand). Says that the Edge clears the error code when I restart the car...and that he personally would not drive the vehicle with his family in it...
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what was your solution? I tried searching for the topic but most stalling issues were related to rough idling, etc. Aside from this shutting down to limp mode in the most inopportune of times, my wife loves her Edge. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
