  1. I have a 2021 Ford Edge ST, and when going on a road trip will get a sensor failure fault about every 30 minutes. It usually resets withing 30 minutes from the time of the fault. I have taken it to the dealer the last three oil changes, and they perform the diagnostic test, but because they cannot replicate the failure they have not been able to fix the problem. Failure to replicate the problem I believe may also prevent them from just replacing the sensor, the concern being Ford will not compensate them.  The car is still in warranty with 30,000 miles. The problem occurs only after driving for about an hour at highway speeds. It is the same wheel which move from front left, to rear left because of tire rotation. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or has any suggestions?

  2. From the traffic I have seen on this site, it seems like most people have been able to get the download over the air, including myself. However, one person was having trouble and was told by the dealer they would have it done at the dealership. From the communication HAZ replied with, it looks like the tech can check if the download was made without going through a long process of just downloading it.

  3. No.  Never got specific actions to try, because at the time I called we were still waiting for a fix to be available. I just set my vehicle and My Ford App up to receive an update if there  was one. That is to the best of my technical ability, which luckily seemed to be enough. The good news, compared to a few days ago ,at least there seems to be a fix in place.  Based on the response you received, you may want to try your dealers service department.

  4. In my case this has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had relating to a car issue. Back in May they had the vehicle for a month, I filed a complaint with Ford Corporate, reported it to the NHTSA, had a formal case number etc.  That being said I have no idea of how and who they are sending the downloads to, but I did create an awareness by calling customer service and asking for Sync 4A support, just a few days prior to getting the download.

  5. I did receive the third download, which basically completed the process if you wanted to hook up with Amazon/Alexa. I also just spoke with Ford software support regarding the "Np Driver Logged In" message They were aware of the issue, said it had something to do with Apple Car Play, and a fix is in place and that should occur within a few days. The message can be dismissed,  and it has no negative impacts, just an annoyance. The techs I have spoken with have been very helpful.  Customer service (800) 392- 3673.  The automated service will ask what kind of vehicle you have, and then ask what you are calling for. I simply said I have a question regarding Sync 4A software, and I was transferred to a tech representative. Have your VIN handy.  Side note, front camera still works, glad to have it back.

  6. Excuse the paranoia, but the front camera is still working today. Received the second part of the previous download yesterday. The front camera  now works as it did originally. A third  download of lesser content was mentioned coming soon.  I am getting a message saying no driver logged in, and  is looking for a 4 digit number. I have no idea what they are referring too. Everything else seems to work, even the ambient lighting is staying on.

I still have not received part 2 of the update and my camera did not change yet. I have hot spot enabled and fiber gigabit internet/wifi it connects to every morning in the garage.

I called Ford Customer service today.  They show  no issues with my vehicle, however, they did connect me with technical support and they acknowledged SSM 50884 which I was told is the front camera fix, but was not yet available. The NHTSA website under dealer communications   Aug 31, 2022, references Update 3 Part 1, was available,  but goes on to say  the front camera fix is not included in that portion of the update. Just sharing information, if it is other then an over the air fix, may want to keep in communications with the dealer.

  8. I did get a September update that did not address the camera issue.  However,  beside the Alexa comment, it went on to say this was only part one of a two part download.  The second part being extensive, and it did mention future improvements. Although my confidence level of the second download addressing the camera is low as it was not specifically mentioned.  Has anyone received the second part of the update?

I HAVE had my 2021 Ford Edge St since July 21 2021.. it has literally lived in the shop with multiple problems… finally after half year, they fixed all and THEN gave me this recall update which now along with all you other has broken my front facing camera… only works like the first gentleman says when u first start the car….. im over the top upset.. asked for buy back, entered the buy back program, I spent 56plus on a car that the camera doesn’t work, Ford is clueless, the dealership takes my car but makes sure they give it back to me (the fine gray line) within that timeframe that a buy back isnt warranty… I have been giving the run around for over 9 months…. How in Gods name can Ford not have an over the air fix to this when they built it? Taking OUT the recall and re installing it, I have heard nightmares of those who did this…. Finding that “perfect” tech isnt real… I have been to 3 dealerships , no one knows how to fix this because Ford hasn’t come up with the fix!! Im so frustrated … i have called Ford almost on a daily basis to keep busting them to get on this…. And I get the same girl or someone from another country who gives u the same info, how sorry they are, and understand my frustration, really???? Do you really??? I have now ask Ford for compensation. I am paying a monthly payment on a car that isnt 100% as promised and I cannot get anyone to listen to me…. Perhaps a class action suit? Surely you all who have same problem are just as frustrated as I am… im on every forum and I hearing, be nice to dealership, they will fix it… no they do not know how to fix this…. They when I beg lend me a car, and guess what, every car they lent me (a Ford Edge 2022 and above has the exact same issue… the camera doesn’t work, how in God name are they selling these broken cars to customers? At least mine worked !! Until the update!…. So Ford told me this, an update is coming in June 2022… then they told me they have it under control and update will be over the air and the fix will be July 2022, now I just got off the phone again and now the update is sept 2022… i am getting the run around… either fix my car, or buy it back… my car has just reached 3k miles!!!!! I cannot drive it without that camera, extremely hard to park! I want what was promised…. Why cant I have it? I have pictures, videos, and proof sitting with a tech… he told me “gremlins” got to the car and ditch it… I cant! Bc Ford says it must stay inside dealership for 15 days 3 times…. And for a whole year, each month(bc that is how they get u) it has been there for 5 days and then they tell me to come and get it… bc they have no fix nor room…. Then the letter comes from ford with my case number on it saying we cant help u… just like that… we cannot help you nor buy it back bc it doesn’t fit the bill…… Ford vehicles are going downhill…. If anyone here has a better way or a mechanic, im willing to drive to him, please help me out…. Regards.. and if there is a class action suit, please send me info. Thank you all in advance for hearing me vent! Rory

I think we all feel your frustration.  A big advantage of this forum is having someone who has access to the Ford OASIS, and if some positive activity occurs we will know. Also. you can file a customer complaint on the NHTSA web site, NHTSA.GOV. Under recalls you will see some complaints have already been filed for this problem. Enough complaints would eventually lead to ironically a recall to fix the front camera. Hopefully there will be a fix before that occurs.

  10. I have a 2021 Edge ST about 18,000 miles on it. The majority of my driving are short trips 8 miles or less. I have never got less then 19 MPG, and often get 20 mpg. On trips the least I have gotten is 25 mpg, but most of the time get about 26 mpg. to 28 mpg.  I live in the Houston are and there is no easy driving, plus the way the car is geared it does not take much to accelerate. I do burn premium.

  11. If you did not exceed 6 mph (I believe that is cut off threshold) under normal circumstances, the camera will stay on.  The problem is after the initial start up the camera does work, but once you exceed the 6 mph it will not come on after that, until the car is restarted. that being said if it does work normally that would seem to be good news. As far as I am aware there has not been an update.

  12. That  is good news, we know they can make it work.  I assume when you enter your VIN number on the NHTSA web site, or other recall check,  it shows no recalls, meaning  even if there was one it has been addressed. The recall that caused the issue with the front camera, was 22S14, which addressed the rear camera cut out. It would seem either the 2022, or at least some 2022 models, were compatible with the original 22S14 fix,  or Ford has found a solution  to the problem, or the recent download was totally unrelated.  Anyway appreciate the information.

I have the 12 inch portrait oriented screen on my 22 Edge ST, that has the Ford Sketch and games on it.  It is definitely the 4A, but odd when I check the version is says Sync 4.  Not sure why.  When I ordered it with the dealer it also said it was 4A.

The 15 inch screen is specific to the Mustang, the Edges from 2021 have the size screen that we have. The software is designated Sync 4, the distinction which makes it a 4A is the larger  (12 inch portrait) screen, and the added functions when compared to previous years.  I had the same question early on and  it was addressed in one of the previous threads.  I also had someone who works with the software give the same response.

Latest OASIS Broadcast Message provides September 2022 target for software patch and OTA deployment for FordPass-connected vehicles, Dealer service bay for others...

Jun 17 2022 2021 Edge - Front Camera Inoperative After Vehicle Traveled Over 6MPH (10Km/h)

Some 2021 Edge vehicles may exhibit the front camera not turning back on if thecamera system button is pressed once the vehicle is below the speed threshold of 6MPH (10km/h). This may be due to the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via an over the air (OTA) software update, expected in September 2022. Software will update automatically if the vehicle is connected to FordPass. Monitor OASIS for additional information. Schedule a service appointment for customers that are not connected to FordPass once the repair becomes available.

    Good luck!

It is very helpful to have this type of information. Thanks!

OASIS Broadcast Message, posted on Ford's Professional Technician's System...

Jun 15 2022 2021 Edge Front Camera Concerns after OTA update or SYNC update

Concerns started with OTAs released/retrieved on 05/04/2022. Customers also reported the issue after the FSA 22S14 is performed. The camera will work if you activate it with the button. After driving, the camera button works until the vehicle speeds exceeds 9mph - 15km/h. After coming to a stop, you cannot activate the camera again until the vehicle is restarted with an ignition cycle or a SYNC soft reset / 2-button reset. This concern can be induced by the latest SYNC SW via OTA update or FSA/recall SW update. Do Not attempt to diagnose the concern. Replacing the camera or module(s) will not address the condition. Please monitor the FSA Landing Page for updates and monitor OASIS Broadcast Messages for updates.

I will provide updates as more info becomes available.

    Good luck!

    Thanks very much appreciated.

  16. I do not know what version I went into the dealership with, as my main motivator was to address the recall notice I received, and when I tried to update my software it just said I was up to date.  However, I just checked and the version I am running after 30 days at the dealership is Rev 22028 _ Product Revision 358.   Yours is Rev 22043 _ Product Revision 379.  I also noticed it said Sync 4, and I believe the vehicle is Sync 4A.  The dealer was aware of this as when I first went in back on May 3, 2022 the service advisor told me the download was going to take longer then he thought, because he did not realize the car was Sync 4A.  My VIN did come up as part of the recall.  Do you happen to know if your software particularly says Sync 4A, and did your VIN come in as part of the recall 22S14, the rear camera issue?

  17. I just joined and am still trying to navigate my way through the Forum.  I posted an article over the weekend.  I have a 2021 Ford Edge ST and after they loaded the software to address 22S14 for the rear camera, afterwards the front camera did not function as designed. The dealer had the car for over 30 days working with Ford Corp Hotline, and could not fix it. They released the car back to me on June 3, 2002 saying they would come up with a fix sometime in the future. I posted a complaint of the NHTSA website, after I saw another 2021 Edge ST filed a complaint having experienced the same problem as I. However, for some reason they removed the complaint I saw,  once I filed mine.
