Been lurking for a few years, but I just want to thank you all for the tips here. I recently had my battery die on me in the middle of a Walmart parking lot. I bought a battery and tools then swapped out my battery in the parking lot only to later find out that in the midst of that, my HVAC module somehow ended up dying. My air would cut on and off while using the defrost (or any other option besides auto) and the auto option would not work at all. My ambient lighting was constantly turning on and off, and my exterior temp was bouncing between two temperatures then showing "--". Not a good time when it's 90+ degrees outside! I took it to a small local shop, told them the problem and they pretty much refused to work on it after only running a scan. They were telling me it could take 10+ hours just to tear apart the dash and they would only use a new module which would still have to be programmed at the dealer. So, instead of waiting a month for my local dealership to even be able to get me in, I purchased two used modules. One of which had the same exact model number. I removed the lower dash cover, side panel, and the lower section of the steering column. With that out of the way, I was able to finagle the fried module out and replace it with the new/used module without cutting my dash. My hands and arms are a little scratched up, but I feel better not having to cut anything! And the best part was that it only cost me $30 for the one module and about an hour and a half of my time. Once again, thank you guys! Now, I can use that "extra" money towards new tires ?
