  1. I have decided top not install the Pedal Commander as it is just too hard to try and install it on my vehicle. I am sending it back under the 30 day return policy. Hope anyone that buys one for a 2021 or a 2022 has a better experience than I had.
  2. I had a Pedal Commander on my Dodge Charger and it made a significant difference on how the car responded to the accelerator pedal. I first found out about the Pedal Commander from my son-in-law who put one one his 2015 Ford Edge Titanium with the V6 engine. So I figured I would put one on my new 2022 Ford Edge Titanium. I looked at the video and it looked easy as can be but it was an earlier version of the Ford Edge. I had the same issue with my 2022 installing a Auto-Stop Eliminator as the videos were of an earlier model and looked really simple. Anyway, I ordered it and looked in the car and was having problems reaching the electrical connector that plugs into the accelerator pedal. Seems that Ford in 2021 raised up the location of the electrical connector and changed the type of connector used. I took a whack at installing it today with the same lack of success. You can reach the little red retainer clip to release the connector but you can not get leverage to pull the connector out of the pedal. I took off the Driver's side lower panel thinking I would be able to see the connector better, but NO way as there was still things blocking your view. I then tried in vain some more to get the connector to pop out but no luck again. I finally thought, OK, I will remove the accelerator pedal and then be able to reach the electrical connector while the pedal is loose. I got the bottom bolt out but had no luck with the top bolt. I decided to give up and as luck would have it the bolt was being difficult in screwing back into the car. After a half hour and a rest, I finally got the bolt back in and tightened what I had thought was the upper retaining nut. I am wondering if anyone has installed a Pedal Commander or similar device on a 2021 or 2022 Ford Edge and if so how did they reach the electrical connector and pop it loose? Kneeling next to the car and leaning in is not fun as it hurts your stomach, even with the use of towels. Anyway I will see if I can find any information, will read the Ford Repair manual again, but as memory serves me it just says to release the red clip and pull the connector loose. No help telling you what you might remove to get access to the area. Thanks once again to all that read this. I am finding out with this car that what may appear to be easy things to install based on videos turns out to be a very major stress experience. I have a lot of respect now for the mechanics that have to work on these vehicles. You could not pay me enough to deal with what the Ford Engineers put together. Maybe it was intentional to keep people from doing their own work and bringing the car back to the Dealership for each and every little thing.
  3. It seems that removing the bottom drivers side knee panel was not the answer to getting better access to the electrical connector on the Accelerator Pedal unit. Oh well have to have my son-in-law take a whack at it or pay a mechanic to do the install.
  4. I may be wrong but looking at the Ford Repair Manual I bought, it looks like you pop out that rectangular do nothing piece on the left side of the driver's door which then reveals two screws. You take out the two screws then pull off the panel as that is attached with the famous Rexkot clips. I will give it a try tomorrow morning and if it works then I am in business with installing my Pedal Commander. I had one on my Dodge Charger that I traded in for the Ford Edge and my daughter and son-in-law have one on their 2015 Ford Edge Titanium with the V6 engine. Wish me luck... we will see what we will see tomorrow... .Ta Da Dave over and out....
  5. I am installing a simple modification, a Pedal Commander that simply needs to have the connector removed from the accelerator pedal and the new connector plugged in to the accelerator pedal. The problem is the connector for the accelerator pedal is up high and in a very awkward position. If Driver's side knee panel under the Steering wheel is removed then access to the connector would be easy. Does anyone know how to remove the panel or if removing the driver's side console side panel would give easy access to the electrical connector on the accelerator pedal. Thank you for all replies and advice. It looks like Ford changed the accelerator pedal position on the 2021 and 2022 model Ford Edge vehicles as my accelerator pedal location and appearance is nothing like I have seen in any video that makes things look easier than eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Thanks to all that reply and for any help or assistance you can provide. Dave
  6. Thank you once again RBX QB as your photo and showing where you grabbed the Bezel was extremely helpful. I had to put on a pair of gardening gloves as the plastic was a bit sharp on my fingers. But a few good tugs and it came loose. I then puzzled a bit over how to disconnect the connector to the switch but then figured that one out. Plugged in the Auto-stop Eliminator and it works perfectly. It is members like you make a forum great and if someone needs help I would be happy to do whatever I could for them. The 2022 and 2021 are like you said very much unlike the earlier models that there was a place to grab at the front. I applaud your genius for figuring out pulling it up on the sides was the key to getting to the switch. Auto-stop Eliminator should make a new video for the 2021 and 2022 model of the Ford Edge. Or at least say that you have to pry up on the sides to release the Bezel showing a photo with arrow like you were kind enough to send to me. I will try to get 4D Tech to give me a return authorization as removing the rear cargo right hand panel is just to much work to get access to the module connector you have to unplug. I was ready to pay a Body Shop money to remove the panel and I would put it back in place, but thanks to you I do not have to do that now. Have a great day and thanks so much again. Dave
  7. Thank you so much RBX QB and the photo showing how to release the front panel. I bought the one also for the rear but it is not so easy to get the connector out of the module. So I will try to do the front again with the information you sent me. Wish me luck. Dave
  8. The 2019 Ford Console Cup Holder Bezel is definitely different from the 2019 that is shown in Auto-stop Install Videos than the one in the 2022 Ford Edge Titanium. Attached are two photos of my console top. You can see that the leading edge of the Console Bezel is flush with the plastic. You can insert a butter knife but the Console Bezel just does not budge. Myh son in law is telling me to not fiddle with it as if it breaks while trying to open it I will have to purchase a new part out of pocket. He said like others, leave it alone and try to get a refund. If I can not get a refund then either sell it on Ebay or keep it until the warranty runs out on the car. So maybe in a year or two someone will post a video about how to pry up the Console Cup Holder Bezel.... Thanks to all that replied...... Anyone with a 2021 or 2022 Ford Edge Titanium that wants to put in an Auto-stop Eliminator, go with the unit that connects in the rear passenger side as it is much easier to access than the 2019 video would make you believe the 2022 would be simple. It is a learning curve I guess.... LOL
  9. I am a retired Engineer and believe what I have read that the Autostop feature maybe good for the Environment but it is bad for the reliability of the Engine. Not every feature on a car is a good thing just because some Engineers made it way. If it is such a great feature why not have it on all the time. The car is mine and I will make it run the way I want it to run. I have had that same feeling about all of my performance cars, boats and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. At my advanced age I am pairing down...... That is the reason I bought a Ford Edge rather than a new Mustang.
  10. Thanks MLT Edge for the reply. I was looking at buying the repair manual for the car which is a hundred dollars, but why bother. I think I will wait and see if I get a reply from the Autostop Eliminator Company as to how to get the console bezel off, if I hear nothing I will insist on returning it to them and buy the 4D unit like you have. I was inside and saw the connector in the rear and if it takes a bit of fiddling to install it so be it. It can not be any worse than trying to unhook the connector from the accelerator pedal to install a Pedal Commander. LOL Thanks again for the reply and advice.
  11. One other thing txaggie, I wish there was a video showing how to remove the upper console piece but I guess the car is just to new for that. If I speak with a Ford Mechanic online they want $5 plus you have to sign up for a $34 a month membership. No guarantee that you will get the advice one is seeking..... Oh well, maybe I should just drive the car in Sport Mode all the time.. .Ha ha ha.. then the Auto-stop is off without me having to push the button.
  12. Thanks for the replay txaggie. In the video for the older models they showed the top console piece needed to pry up at the front of the console as it is hinged to a pair of rear connectors. On that model year you could not just lift up on it from the sides. I have to be careful as if I break something my wife will kill me big time... LOL. Wish me luck.....
  13. I just bought my 2022 Ford Edge Titanium and found having to press the Auto-stop button to turn off this feature every time I start the car is a pain. I did learn that putting the car in Sport Mode turns off the Auto-stop feature. Anyway, I noticed a few places like 4D and Autostop Eliminator sell a piece that will allow you to keep the Auto-stop feature on or off all the time and not have it reset to on every time the car is started. So one has a piece they sell that hooks up to the module in the rear passenger side of the vehicle, the other sell a device that connects to the bottom of the Auto-stop switch. There are videos showing how to install either unit. The one that connects to the switch in the center console looked easy. However hindsight is always 20/20 as it seems the vehicle is an earlier version and in the video the top of the console lifts off very easily hinging up from the front and that is why I went this route. However when trying to install the device I am not able to pull up the Console Bezel as my console is different from the one in the video. Plus the console top cover acts like it is either severely latched in or held by screws. I could notice neither and am afraid to break something if I start prying up on this piece. I should have purchased the unit that connects in the rear of the car as I was able to get to the connector they show in the video with no problems. I have sent a request to the manufacturer of the piece I purchased asking them for advice on removing the console top or giving me a return authorization for the part. I am not about to pay a mechanic a $100 or more to install this piece. I would rather return it and buy the other unit. I have posted in the interior section of the forum a request regarding removal of the console top to gain access to the switches. I have not found anything doing a search on line that is about a Ford Edge Console newer than a 2020. So if you buy a Ford Edge and want to disable the Auto-stop feature be careful what unit you buy, or make sure you can actually reach the electrical connector before you make your purchase. Thanks for reading.... .
  14. Interesting video but will not work on a 2022 Ford Edge unless you have to pry like crazy to pop the console top loose. I am afraid on mine that the console top might break. In the videos for the earlier models the console top just lifts up and off no problem. Leave it to Ford to make things more difficult for me. LOL
  15. Thank you to H handfiler for the welcome.
