Welcome! I have had 13 cars since I have been driving. All were Fords, except for two. Those two were total and complete lemons. One I bought brand new, was expensive at the time and it broke down after I left the dealership. It was such a bad lemon that it just sat parked while I made the payments and paid the high insurance on it, while I drove my aunts old Ford Fairmont. I won't go away from Ford ever again. I do have a 1990 Cadillac Allante that is pretty nice, but I want to get rid of it, since I need the garage space. Good luck with your Edge, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine!

Congrats on your new family member! He is beautiful! Great job on rescuing him from the shelter. Brings back great memories of when I adopted from the shelter. I am like you, I like dogs more than people. I hope you have a long happy life together. I like his name, it is perfect.

Is vinegar really safe for a car finish? I know that vinegar is bad for clear plastic, because the acid will make it cloudy, so wouldn't it do the same thing to the clear coat finish?

Welcome! Very nice choice in vehicles. You sure know how to dress up a driveway.

I have never changed the oil in my 08 Edge myself. I take it to the dealer. The last time I took it for an oil change, the mechanic came to me and said that my Edge takes 6 quartz and there would be an additional charge for the extra quart. They never put 6 quartz in the other times.
As for engineers, don't get me started! I work with engineers daily and know first hand not to trust anything they design!

I want to enter, but I have a couple of things that I want to do before entering. But I guess I can go ahead and enter since there aren't many entering yet.

#3 bottom bar body color. It looks good and will be different than all of the Sports.

carbonedge+, I like the pics before you modified the front, LOL! Seriously, sorry for your loss, good luck with your Fusion!

Both cars are very nice! The Stang looks like the one that got trashed in the movie Wrong Turn. I was so upset when they wrecked that one just for a movie.

I had mine done in 2010 for free. Ford sent me a notice with a coupon to have it upgraded and 911 assist installed with the upgrade. I had a 3 month time frame to get it done before the coupon expired. I didn't notice any difference.

I have the same problem with my 08, thought I was the only one that had this problem.

GEEZ DUDE!!! This should have had a warning label! Not only did it make me sick to my stomach, but way to sad to read first thing in the morning. I am so glad that you didn't give this redneck inbred what he deserves, because you would be in more trouble than him. Losing a pet is devastating, but to lose him so young and in such a senseless way is horrible! Please keep us posted on what, if anything happens to this worthless P.O.S. Several years ago my nieces little dog was abducted by a neighbor that she had a run in with. He threw the little dog off of a bridge as he drove across. He only had to pay a fine, even though animal groups got involved. My cousin was shot in the head and his 2 y.o. son was shot in the head by his neighbor after he took a restraining order out on him, so everyone needs to be aware that psycho's live all around us. Be careful how you deal with this piece of crap, he might come after you next. Be very alert and stay safe!

Hey Larry, thanks for posting the pic. My father had one of those when I was a little kid. His was all white. Brings back memories. I do remember driving a Chevy Luv pickup that was given to me. The floor boards had rust holes through them and driving to work one day when it rained water shot up my pants leg. I used duct tape to cover over the holes, LOL!

Thanks Larry! I will post more pics when I put the lower stripes on. I don't blame you for putting your Edge up on ramps and giving a good undercarriage rinse. My 98 Explorer had rusted out rocker panels, hopefully my Edge won't suffer the same fate. I took my Explorer to Maaco to have the rused out rocker panels fixed, they put tape over the rust and painted over it. That was a waste of money. Last fall I found a reputable body shop and had them replaced. This shop did a fantastic job! (STAY AWAY FROM MAACO!).

Hagerstown, Maryland. I have a 2008 Edge.Limited with Nav and Vista roof. It only has 17,000 miles on it. I have a 1998 Explorer XLT with 240,000 miles on it, that is my daily driver. I use the Edge to go on trips. It sits in the garage for weeks and sometimes months. I have never driven it in snow, even though it has AWD. I only had 1,300 miles on it after one year. The tech at the dealership laughed at me and said see you again in another year and let's see if you have 1,500 on it by then. Never been back to the dealer for warranty work or any work at all, except for oil changes.I do my own srtiping and put some pinstripes on it, going to do more stripes on lower panel this summer. Also put bodyside molding on it from sportwing. I work in the Washington, DC area, that is why the Edge sits in the garage and I drive my old Explorer. Explorer still looks great, people don't believe the age and miles on it. Love the Edge though!

It looks GREAT Mike! Can't wait to see pics when you put the body kit on.

Jen... WTF were you thinking? I love my Edge, but if I had a Stang like that I would NEVER give it up!
Hey everyone! My name is Jen and I just made an extremely difficult decision this past week. I don't know anything but power and racing. Well, I finally got in trouble after racing for years I owned my dream car with over 600rwhp and have been in tears since the trade. I went with a 2011 Edge SEL. Love the black leather and digital stuff. My plan is to lower it, tint, paint the grill, maybe rims and other little cosmetic things to make it more me. I still have my bike fir when I need to go fast. Enough about that. Threads are useless without pics, so here ya go...

Nice job! Goes well with the chrome front.
I agree, it looks great! I might get one.

Nothing wrong with adding to a dead post, because people like me who have the same problem can learn. So all you guys that feel silly...Don't.
I was told by my Ford dealer that it used to be behind a panel in the cargo area. But they do not do that anymore, you have to get it scanned now.
That was what my dealer told me too, but when I was in getting an oil change on another vehicle, the service rep just looked it up on the computer and gave it to me. He didn't need my vin number, just put my name in and there it was, no scanning necessary.

Going to tint my front windows to match the back factory tints. I was told by a tinter that the factory tints are 13 or 23%, can't remember what he said. The max tint that seems to work without being hassled by the police for tints being too dark for front door windows is 35%. If I go 35% than it won't match the rear tints. Has anyone tinted their windows and if so at what %? pictures?
Thanks
I had mine tinted 13%, it was a really good match. I had my Explorer windows tinted to match the back windows and it was darker than the law permits in my state. I have never been harassed by the cops for it.

So who wants to put together a group buy from Tasca parts?
Right now theyre listed at $113.65 a piece.
Maybe if we get 5-10 committed to purchase we can get a discount.
I am definitely interested in getting in on that deal.

Cutting up styrofoam is easy-- an electric knife costs about 10 bucks-- or perhaps find a model airplane builder to help you!
A hacksaw blade with the plastic handle on one side works great on styrofoam and is even cheaper than the electric knife.

This looks like a sweet setup, exactly what I'm after for $278. Allows entire system to be used on the fly and provides a decent backup camera.
That's great, I don't care about the DVD, but I want to use Nav while driving and I want to add the back up camera, but they only have it for the 2009/2010 Edge. Does anyone know where I can get one for my 2008?

I got over 100,000 miles on two sets of Michelins on my 98 Explorer. I do mostly city driving. My Edge has almost 20,000 miles on it and the Pirelli's still have a lot of tread, but I do mostly highway driving with it.
