  1. I've had trouble for a while with my EVAP system. We have changed the purge valve and the connected hoses, as well as the air intake the hoses connect to. I have no symptoms but its been a month and the light still wont go off. My personal scanner allows me to clear codes but not permanent codes, both of these show permanent codes. Any idea what else the issue could be? It's causing me to fail my emissions. Note: We had a mechanic tell us the issue was the purge valve/hoses and the air intake duct. Changed all those parts out, and the symptoms went away, light just never went off. Edit: keep it to one thread.
  2. Anyone know how to get the purge balance hoses changed out? We’re replacing the valve, hoses, and air duct. There’s one hose the plugs in down deep into the manifold and we can’t get the clip to clip into place. We got it on the nipple, but can’t seem to secure it. Are we going to have to remove the big coolant hose?
  3. Not sure why it was low, we couldn't find any noticeable leaks, and yes first time that's happened. We added some oil in to get home then went ahead and did a full oil change. Oil levels have been fine in the weeks since the low oil. Engine was replaced because of a cylinder misfire. We tried to fix it ourselves replacing plugs and coils, light would go off then come back on so we eventually took it to a mechanic. Block was warped, head gasket blew, so they replaced it. Basically threw parts at it trying to fix it and it ended up becoming a bigger problem. Not entirely sure if its VEP I'll have to check paperwork. Small parts have been going out here and there, which I expect with the car having 160,000 miles. Just thought we solved the issue with the new purge valve and now I get the same code but without all the same symptoms. Thinking I may just take it in if we can't get it sorted soon, don't want another small problem to turn into a big one.
  4. Thanks for those responses guys it helped. We changed out the purge valve and all symptoms went away and after a few days the code cleared on its own. Unfortunately when I got gas a few days ago I had another hard start issue. Wasn't as bad this go around. But the engine light came back on today with the same exact code, showing I need a new evap canister. Any insight? Should we go ahead and replace the canister or could it be something else? Note: I don't have a gas cap, just the flap you push in. My dad has mentioned those can cause less of a seal on the tank. Not sure if that could be an issue at play.
  5. After fueling on Friday my car would not start. Took about 10 tries before it started up. Next day I get my check engine light, a farting noise from the back of the car. My oil level was low so we added oil and the noise stopped. Tuesday it started idling hard and shaking when at a stop. RPM meter was moving up and down but still stayed below 1 rpm. Code it’s throwing is P1450. Autozone suggested part is the vapor canister. Online I’m seeing it code be the purge valve, or the valve solenoid. Can’t seem to find just the valve online without all the hoses. Anyone know the part # or if I’m even correct on thinking it’s the purge valve? Thanks car got a new engine at 115k miles, now has 152k if that matters.
