  1. I just bought a 2010 Ford Edge Limited that was fully featured from the factory. From what I can tell this is one of the few models that has a factory installed remote start system. The remote start has it's own key fob and it seems to work different than other models in that you just hold the button for a few seconds and the car should remotely start. It worked a few times right after I brought the car home but then it stopped. It chirps 3 times every time I try it indicating that one of the doors are open. There is no "door ajar" indicator on the dash when they are all closed. After doing quite a bit of research on this it appears that the plastic arm that moves when the door is open to let the computer know it's open get gummed up and get stuck. Seems to be a common problem with these cars. I have cleaned them with electric contact cleaner but that has not helped the issue. I'm actually thinking this car had that issue before I owned it because ALL of the dome lights inside were missing when I bought it. Plus when I used the contact cleaner I was expecting a lot of gunk to come pouring out but everything seemed to be clean as a whistle. What I'm getting at is that I believe the door sensors are working just fine. But for some reason the remote start system still thinks that one of the doors are open. I also disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes just to see if that would reset anything but that did not help the issue either. I have poured over forums all over the internet trying to figure this out but it seems most people who have this issue are actually experiencing the door sensor issue. As I said I don't believe they are getting stuck at all on this car. I also checked the hood switch even though it would be giving me a different chirp code for that but it seems fine as well. It's freezing outside right now! All I want is to be able to warm my car up before I go to work! Please help!
