  1. Yes, this recall repair will adversely impact your vehicle, based on my experience. I have a 2017 Ford Edge and have received several different recall notices over the last few years. After going to the dealership for this recall repair I've experienced the same issues as another responder, "I got this notice as well for my 2015 Edge. It just so happens that the check engine light has periodically come on and off and am getting codes P2196 and P2198." I had no idea this was a possibility, and considering my check engine light goes on every previous time after leaving the dealership, I decided to take it to a third party. They completed a diagnostic and smoke tests and found nothing. Then an alert "check fuel inlet" started periodically showing up. While my check engine light continued to periodically turn on. Each time I took it into the shop the same codes were presented and sometimes no codes. Eventually I had the fuel neck replaced, and canister purge valve replaced. Check engine light has not turned on again however getting 'check fuel inlet' alert. After reading about this recall and subsequent activity I decided to go back to Ford to ask them to check if the PCM reprogram was faulting or why these issues come and go. They told me they couldn't help without charging a diagnostic fee and additional charges if repair needed. This is the first Ford I've had, and it's been nothing but problems with the dealership and repairs and multiple recalls. Too bad because I really have enjoyed it as a midsize SUV.
