Sorry to reply to such an old post, but this is the most helpful one I could find on the topic. What is the purpose of this part? I just got a 2014 edge, and it's got one rail completely mangled from being closed on incorrectly, and the other just pops off every time I try to put it on like others have said. I've been driving it around in the rain, went through a car wash, with no issue. It doesn't look like the two rails that it attaches to slide against anything. Can anyone tell me why I should pay $180 for two pieces of rubber that don't seem to do anything?
