  1. "tweakfrek88 edited them, don't know why"??

    Edited...??!!! So what??

Let's hear why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they were removed!!!

So far, his posts were less than stellar about his Edge experiences.

Does that require the posts to be removed????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How does this translate into removed posts???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like, I removed negative posts, because I do not like negativity!!!

I think we deserve an explanation!!!!

  2. HI,

All dealers in quebec had received a email yesterday advise them for not call FORD for retrace a EDGE.

I have commanded my EDGE in august and i have a serial number since 2.5 months but no EDGE.

    Where is my EDGE ?

    No one say that !

Could you tell me where is it ?

    Your Edge is on hold!

The first built Edges are being repaired because of bad parts!

You will see your Edge in January!

  4. I seriously doubt that it will retain 64% of it's value after two years....

sranger, I'm thinking..if you top out the milage at 30,000 over 2 years, (assuming they give you 15,000 p/year)

do you think the Edge could still be worth $18k-22k??

Another assumption I'm making, is the car in great shape..body and mechanics??

It might be close to that number, but I'm sure, Ford, in their zeal to put the best possible spin on it, gave the highest number (%).

    Just a thought.

  5. yeah but price is way out of wack !! just left the dealer ship on top of being over month delayed now not till mid decemeber or later.. price on a 2yr lease for a Edge 424 a month crazy for a 28,000 car.. i don;t care how great it is.... going to lease a freestyle or another explorer... or maybe fusion .. have to wait for bettter price in 2 years..

    No kidding!!!

I got tired of waiting (4 months!!!) and after my dealer told me my Edge was built, but sitting in a holding area "for god knows how long", I bought an '06 Fully loaded, V-8 Explorer, 4x4 for $30,500 delivered, (from NJ, I live in Boston) I got a better deal, less $$ and.................I HAVE THE CAR NOW!!!!

    Way to go Ford!!!!

    Another late, late, late release!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 10 million dollars a day in losses, by delaying this vehicle, I think you dropped the ball!!??????????

    BWTHDIK!!!!!

  6. Hey guys, I just canceled my Edge and purchased a 2006 Explorer Limited!! Black on Black.

    $4,000 cash back!!!!!

V8, DVD player, audiophile sound system (290 watts w/subwoofer),

18 in wheels, dual climate controls, heated leather seats...etc.

    Total cost...$30,500 delivered!

    Hasta la vista Edge!

  7. The have been moving them to holding points for well over a month now.

    Yo Frank.....

if that's the case, how can I get my salesman to track "EXACTLY" where my car is between here (Boston) and Oakville.

So far, all he's been able to tell me, is the car was in que for production a week and a half ago on his computer.

Do you know any pertinent questions I could ask him to help him in his search, or am I wishing for too much?!

It seems odd he's having a difficult time, yet he sells Ford vehicles!

  8. "They typically get test data at the track or vacant parking lot using scientific testing equipment"

    Great!!!

That will give the average consumer an accurate idea of how it drives on a day to day basis!!

They beat the shit out of these cars on a track or vacant lot, but most of "us" don't drive that way, at least ...not in the real world!

To me, this is not an accurate representation, of how we all drive in the real world!!!

It is however, an idea of how they feel the car should drive!

    Their bias is obvious!!

Let's just wait until we drive it ourselves!

I'll bet it will be better thann most vehicles out there!

  9. You mentioned "Guesstimates" a couple of times. So I assume you carry many $$$ worth of test equipment with you so that you get accurate preformance measurments instead of guessing it's performance by the seat of your pants?

The "preformance by the seat of your pants?" comment is sophomoric and appropo.

The real results, will be how everyday drivers feel in the seat of their pants!!

In my case, not only how I feel, but how do my clients like the vehicle.

That's why I believe I'll be a great barometer for this particular car.

My monthly mileage will be greater than these guys would ever drive and my yearly mileage will be greater than most drivers do in 5 years!!!!!!

Something these reviewers can't even approach in their short tests!!!

The everyday consumer doesen't care about "$$$ worth of test equipment", but rather, does the car perform well for their needs!!!

These reviewers don't carry $$$ worth of test equipment with them...they ride in this vehicle like the rest of us!!!

And even if they had all this alledged equipment....how does that equate to how "YOU" feel in the car in day to day driving???

  10. Good points...

I recently saw a brake swap on an 05 mustang. Using the same tires yeilded a 60-0 reduction of nearly 20 feet. This was done with larger drilled/vented rotors and dual calipers. Tires do certianly help, but to truly shorten the braking distances usually requires braking hardware upgrades. I have seen simple carbon fiber pads and stainless steel brake lines make a big difference.. I am certian that I could improve on the stopping distance of the Edge, but it would require about $2,000.00 worth of hardware/tire upgrades. I would not rule out this possiblity as I am the type that will modify a new car to suit me tastes... ( I.E. my supercharged mustang.. )

However, I am a little dissapointed in Ford for allowing this issue to potentialy harm an otherwise strong mechanical design. They had to have known about it in their testing if ( I SAID IF ) the magazine articles are accurate. It will wait until I can get a test drive to make my on decision...

Of course, I should note that the thing probably stops better than my 05 Mariner. It's 60 year old rear drum technology is not very impressive...

P.S. I think the main advantage in the CX-7 is that is is significantly lighter with better brakes...

Ya know, I've been reading info, that seems to based on second hand reports,.

    That's to say...car reviewers.

I'll take what they say with a grain of salt.

They are biased to the "Nth" degree!

The people who will buy this vehicle will more than likely love it, despite all the shortcomings these writers have issues with!!!

If I based my buying options on their opinions, I'd be living in then 80's.

The buying public will ultimately be the driving force of the success or failure of this new offering.

The buying public, who reads their biased drivel, could give a rats ass about what these rags say!

They are just barometers, and biased ones at that, nothing more

I'll be happy to judge for myself...thank you very much!

I drive livery and will be able to put this car thru its paces, better than most.

If it's a good car, I'll bet I know before these reviewers, who take a "TEST" drive of 800 miles before the vehicle is broken in; get an accurate representation of MPG or how well the vehicle performs in everydayt driving !!!

    At best, it's a guesstimate.

    I don't like guessstimates!

When, (if I ever get it) I have driven this vehcle for a month, (approx 6000 miles) I'll give you my review and those of the clients I've driven.

Only then, will I believe, we'll have an accurate representation of how good Ford built this vehicle!!!

  11. If your Dealer is changing dates on you its becuase Ford Motor Company is changing dates on him.

Your vehicle is very likley built and sitting in a staging area somewhere waiting to be signed off.

I would say your chances are very good that you will recieve your vehicle in December IF they are signed off by then.

Please note that these delays are very common with new vehicles be it Ford or Toyota.

The same thing happened with the Fusion and to this day, there are no recalls with the vehicles.. Toyota cant say the same for their new vehicles.

Thanks Frank, I hope you're right.

  12. To "Frank IdontKnow"

since I ordered an Edge without the Vista roof, is it possible my order would show up in the first shipments (in the Boston area) by mid December??

I know it's possible, but with the vista roof delay i was wondering....

My dealer has little substantive info.

He's changed the delivery date 3 times already!

I know my dealer ordered fully loaded vehicles, (with the Vista roof) but since "the panoramic roof is on hold"................

I'm thinking, since my Edge, which was an original dealer order he reconfigured for me to include, no Vista roof, 18" painted wheels, towing package, storage bins and leather....I might get mine in the first shipment, since I ordered mine in mid August??!!

4 months is getting to be annoying, to wait for a new car!

    Your thoughts?

  13. Frank G is the plant manager. The damage was done over the coarse of a few years. It was done at a time when only the Freestar was running and preperations were being done for the Flex plant and the Edge.

If Ford allocates x amount of dollars to shut down the old truck plant paint shop. ( which was to become the new Edge paint shop ) and all Frank does is shut the lights off on his way out and spend the money elswhere or send it back, how is Detroit to know? The assume that the money was spent on the Paint Shop. Now we struggle to paint 100 per shift.

When Ford allocates money for a Maintenance program and the money goes elswhere and the maintenance isnt done how is Ford going to know? Upper managment has beem falsifying reports of work getting done when it actually hasnt. Recently one of the top guys got canned for falsifying safety reports when an outsider from Detroit noticed. Unfortunatley they only got Franks fall guy.

Maintenance is unfortunatley a necessary evil. You either pay for it now with regular PMs , inspections and repairs when problems are 1st noticed or you pay for it later when a conveyor falls from the ceiling for example. ( happened this week. ). Loss of two shifts of production.

Frank G is a very incopetant individual. Seven years ago this was made very apparent when he was incharge of body in the Freestar plant. Both Trades and managment made him look very incompetant ( becuase he is, thats why he has a stone to grind with Skilled Trades ). In any event he was "promoted" out of the plant to an US plant where he wreaked more havoc ( Just ask the US plant, KC I think ) until he was "Promoted" again to PM of Oakville. Franks 1st job was to fire certain managers that new how incompetant he was and then he turned his attention to dismantling one of Fords finest maintenance programs.

Franks Daddy owns many Ford Dealerships, Thats how Frank got into Ford.

Incompetence seems to be the norm rather than the exception.

It's swept under the rug, people get fired/transfered, ignored, or, as you pointed out..PROMOTED!!!!

    WTF is that all about??!!!

The message in the movie "WallStreet"..."Greed is good", seems to be coming to fruition!!!!!!

My feeling is, that within 50 years, America will not be a leader in the world!!

When China can build a MagLev train in Shanghai in 3 years, build most of the worlds electronics, cheaper and better than the rest of the world...... and soon..........cars!!!.........how long will it be before we fall??

Kinda like, when the emperor Honorius saw the Visigoths coming over the 7th hill to sack Rome.

    Just another page in history.

Turn the page..see what happened next!!!

  14. in Ford's future!!!!!!

This is another bad launch for Ford.

My salesman can't give me a shipping date that's firm.

So far it has changed 3 times as has the production date of my ordered vehicle.

If I don't hear from him by the of the week, I'm canceling my order.

Maybe in February, when sales are sluggish and incentives are high enough to try and move this poorly marketed car, I might have another look see.

This car was ordered back in the middle of August.

Now, there are ads on TV and there is no product to be seen in the showrooms!!!!

Way to go Ford!!!!

  15. Personally, I don't really care if they aren't in seperate locations. First off, I'm freakin deaf. And deaf in the high tones. So anything they have will be good enough. Just the fact that they have them vs a single cone is good enough for me. Second, my days of installing custom stereos are over. I just don't care to futz with that stuff any more. Factory stereos have gotten good enough that I don't feel the need or want anymore.

So I think I will be quite pleased with the factory stereo. Or at least the Audiophile one...

Look guys... I distinctly remember, that the audiophile system stated........

a THX audio system with 14 speakers and a sub-woofer!

    Did I miss something??!!

  17. "They moved my SEL build date to November 6th!!! I'm starting to get very very frustrated. What will suck is if and when it finally arrives if the rates and residuals suck and they want $450 a month for a $27,000 car. Let's just hope that doesn't happen. Because if it does I might be forced to move to the competition."

    Bill

My sales rep is telling me, my order has been pushed back to the 13th.

Last week, it was scheduled to tbe built earlier!

It's not a fully loaded Edge!!!!

Each time I speak with him, he either can't find my vehicle, or....it's lost in his computer!!!

    This is BS!!!

The more I press for info, the more defensive he becomes!!!!

Altough he calls me with uodates...his messages are non info messages!!!!!

He tells me his Ford rep can't give him any more info about my order!!!

    WTF??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ford's communication is either piss poor, or, the sales people only want to sell you their most expensive vehicles!!!!!!

We have a 2007 new vwhicle show in Boston!!

You "STILL" can't approach the vehicle, as it spins on a pedestal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    So far.... FORD....your marketing SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
