I put thee factory side rails on my 2009 edge with the vista roof and carry a Thule box on top with around 60 pounds and have had no problems. I drove it on a road trip to Canada about 1700 miles and it worked Perfect. Hope this helps GL Oh if you have the Vista roof the roof I dont think it will open if you use the factory crossbars.

I bought a 2009 Edge last month with the Vista roof. I wanted a roof rack so I could mount a Thule Box on top for a long road trip. I bought the Factory rails like you did and it took all of 10 minutes to put them on. You do not need to drill the extra hole the Screws will self tap in and the Rubber like washers on them will act as a sealer to keep them water tight. Just make sure when you are putting the new rails on that you tuck the front of the rail oner the trim peice. You will understand when you see it. Also Be Advised I used an after market Cross bar by Thule. I dont think the Vista roof will open if you use the Factory cross bars with the Factory rails. I took and have pictures of my install but have no clue how to load them to the forums. If someone would like I can email the pictures to them for loading or maybe expain to me how to upload them. I think the files for the pictures are to big and thats the problem but I have no clue how to make the file size smaller.

Hello all Like many others I am a new 2009 Ford Edge owner. My salesman found this site for me when I had questions about putting a roof rack on an with the Vista roof. Anyway I look forward to reading and seeing what others have done with their Edge's. :hyper:
