  2. FOR ANYONE THAT'S INTERESTED IN THE NEW FORD F150 RAPTOR, I RECEIVED THIS FROM MY DEALER CONTACT... "Ed, attached is a communication I just got in for the Raptor. I have cleaned off any hyperlinks to our internal websites, but I think all the pertinent information is there. My understanding is that most Ford Dealers will by charging a premium over the window sticker for this truck. I have been authorized to offer it to any of your referrals for MSRP without any additional markup. But, we HAVE to have the orders in by the deadline. Let me know if this helps. David David Simpson Commercial / Fleet / Credit Union Associate AutoNation, Inc Champion Ford - Katy 281-675-4741 Direct 281-675-4826 Fax 713-291-6664 Cell 20777 Katy Frwy Katy, TX 77450 simpsond1@autonation.com ATTACHEMENT: In response to positive dealer and consumer feedback Ford will continue to offer the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor Retail Verification and Scheduling program for valid retail orders through October 15, 2009. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Has the Early Order Incentive Program been extended? No, this announcement extends the ordering and scheduling of the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor's only. When will the verified retail orders be produced? Eligible and verified orders will be considered for production. Timing estimates will depend upon the number of verified orders received but every effort will be made to schedule all units for production the month after they are verified (e.g. retail order verified in August will be scheduled for production in September). Please review the production timing with your Regional Sales Office. What will happen if my order is not buildable (e.g. has a configuration error)? Dealers are responsible for providing a clean and buildable order by the program deadlines, no exceptions will be honored. Will my order get approved if I don't submit a copy of the customer's driver's license? No, your order will be placed on hold with Program Headquarters and it will not be eligible for these programs. Where can I verify my status on the enrollments that I have entered on the verification website? There is a function on the website to view all of your current enrollments on the website and their status (Approved, Hold, Denied Will this retail order scheduling commitment extend beyond October 15, 2009? Our goal is to continue to offer scheduling of all verified retail orders above allocation. Due to limited production, we will monitor the number of verified retail orders received and determine if we can extend this program at that time.
  3. I have a 2009 Limited with the 20 inch chrome clad wheels and with 5690 miles driven have not noticed this problem. When you first start hearing the clicking sound, can you feel the chrome clad moving when the car in parked? Also, is this clicking sound heard with the windows up / down or both? Thanks.
  4. I like this feature. Sure helps when backing out of a parking space that does not have that much room between rows. The beeps get louder as you near an object and the beeps change to a steady tone at about 10 inch for the object. I have had a couple of times when backing out of a space that the sensors detected a slow moving car to my right which I could not see because of my view being blocked by a large SUV.
  5. Your are correct, I have a 2009 Edge Limited which came with the 20" chrome clad wheels and sport-tuned suspension (sticker option cost was $850).
  6. My 2009 Edge Limited is very quiet and when I test drove the Lexus 2009 RX350 (new car buying came down to the Edge Limited vs. Lexus RX350) I felt that the Edge was more quiet all-around in city & highway driving conditions. This subjective conclusion was based on all windows closed and A/C both in the "ON" (Max fan) and "OFF" positions. As far as the sound system, that too is very good although I will have to say that the Lexus did have more speakers (15 vs. 9) and features in the Mark Levinson system - both have sub-woofer's and tweeter's along with mid-range speakers. If you search through this forum you will see where a number of Edge owner's have replaced their speakers but that seems to be the major change to the sound system made by most owners. I have the 20 inch wheels with sport-tuned suspension option and the ride is both smooth and handling is very responsive (coming from sports cars you might want to consider this option).
  7. You can copy & past the text into a word processor (I use MS Office 2007 Word) and then edit to your preference.
  8. Sounds like a "Speed Sensor" is going south. My previous ride (2002 KIA Sedona) had a similar problem that cause the transmission to suddenly downshift then recover (all within several seconds time). First time it happened I was doing 65 MPH in moderate traffic and was lucky that the car behind me didn't rear-end me! Second time it happened I was able to get it to the shop before the code cleared and that's when the defective speed sensor was found. After replacement of the speed sensor, I never that (same) problem again.
  9. All, Thanks for the replies. Would anyone happen to know what the 2009 vs. 2010 changes are? I found a little information on Ford-Media.com which reported that gas mileage was up by 1 MPG and that the interior had been upgraded. It was actually this information that lead to my posting this inquiry since my Edge has gotten anywhere from 19.5 to 20.7 MPG with an average speed of 35 MPH (heavy / light mixed traffic / 64 miles round trip daily work commute). Thanks, ebaker21
  10. My Edge manufactuing label lists the build date as 04/09. Is there any chance that some of the 2010 changes were included in this build? Thanks.
  11. I bought the Mr. Clean Auto-dry Kit ($34.95 at Target) and find it acceptable. It's not perfect by the fact that when you finish one section (of the vehicle) and move to the next, you will always have some over spray from the normal rinse that will spot if you do not do an overlapping spotless re-rinse. The final step I do during the wash is to do a spotless re-rinse of the entire vehicle. Any water that remains beaded after 30 minutes I remove using a clean microfiber cloth. Soap runs about $4.95 for a bottle that will yeild 5 washes (Edge) and the filters are $5.95 and while rated for 10 car wash rinses, I have been getting about 6. There is a drawback to the Mr. Clean Auto-dry car wash kit; it is for light duty wash & rinse only. If you have a large amount of dirt that needs to be removed, i.e., MUD, SALT other road GRIME, then you will need a more powerful spray nozzle for the initial rinse and (perhaps) wash cycles.
  12. My 2009 Edge came with the optional 20 Inch Wheels and Sport Tuned Suspension...just what is the difference? I have searched this forum and "Goggled & Yahoo'd" the topic with no findings? Thanks.
  13. Indirectly, this Forum is what I like about my Edge. I discovered it during my research on the Ford Edge and spent hours reading the postings which I found to be very informative and polite (even when the subject was somewhat on the negative side) and not the typical B & M you normally find on such forums) prior to making my 2009 FWD Limited purchase this past June. Having X-Plan and 0% financing were also factors that lead to my choosing the Edge over an Lexus RX350. As for the Edge itself: - faster than a BMW RX5! (no shortage of power and very responsive) - quieter than the Lexus RX350 (confirmed by actual test driving both at city and highway conditions) - HEAD TURNING looks (I keep it in showroom condition and the Platinum White Tri-coat metallic in the sunlight along with the 20" chrome (clad) wheels draws stares like a magnet) - Vista Roof (makes me want to move the steering wheel into the back seat area) - Well designed / ergonomic cabin layout for both front and rear passengers - The Navigation System is first rate and dead on (unlike the early Nav systems that would alert you that you had missed a turn or were going the wrong way, this system is SMART in that it detects that you have decided to take another routing and updates the system accordingly - this is a real plus when an unexpected detour or wrong turn occurs. Being hard drive based it is also fast on updates) - Travel Link (IMHO) is a must for driving in Houston, TX where an average (as I have read) of over 80,000 traffic accidents occur each year - According to KBB (Kelly Blue Book) the Edge will retain its trade-in / resale value just a little under that of an Lexus RX! As for aftermarket and dealer support: - I bought the Edge at a dealership 45 miles from where I live but get service / warranty needs taken care of at the Ford dealership only 8 miles from the house (this would not, most likely, have been possible if I had purchased a GM or Chrysler product) - Cost of service and non-warranty will be less expensive than Lexus (and most likely GM and Chrysler given the current business situation their both experiencing) - There are many sources for "mods & upgrades" for the aftermarket modder's like LEX and others I moved up from a 2002 KIA Sedona which I purchased new in 2001 and the difference is like "Night & Day". I looked at the new KIA's but the reliability, service and after purchase support are still not where they need to be. The warranty might be better, but good luck in getting it honored.
  14. I just had my 2009 Edge Limited (with Vista Roof) headliner repaired at the dealer because the adhesive, used to attach the (headliner) Velcro fastener to the roof did not stick, causing the the headliner to droop down about 1 1/2 inches in the area of the rear interior light assembly. Fix was to use an upgraded adhesive on the Velcro fastener; according to the service representative this issue has been seen on several other late model Fords and the problem was found to be that the adhesive used (apparently) couldn't take the Texas heat (which had been running over 100 Degrees F daily for several weeks in July and still gets in the upper 90's). UPDATE Within two weeks the headliner began to droop again. Dealer tried there own approach of repair and this lasted about one week. I requested that Ford be contacted for engineering support and today was told that a new headliner was sent to the dealer (by Ford) as it was Ford's position that dealer repairs were not effective due to not being able to apply the same process for applying / curing the adhesive as at the factory. I have scheduled an appoint for this Wenesday to have the new headliner installed. I am very pleased with both the way my dealer and Ford have addressed this issue. Will update after the new headliner is installed and has some (Texas heat) time on it.
  15. If you have a factory installed Nav System, Ford has an after market backup camera solution available but it requires that the video be part of the (interior) rear view mirror. If you have a mirror with the auto dimming and / or Sync microphone, this is no problem (according to the representative at Champion Ford, here in Katy, Texas). This is basically the same system installed on the F-150 and Expedition. The price however is (very) costing $865 installed and comes with a Ford Backed 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. If you have an extended service warranty agreement (through Ford) it will NOT cover the camera beyond the 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty.
