  1. Has anyone explored adding the power lift gate to their EDGE or MKX? We have a 2008 MKX and would like to add it. Is the wiring already in place? I was thinking if the wiring was there I could add only the motor unit with switch and hoping it would operate. I was not going to add the dash button.

    Do a search Tailgate Lift,Marty

  2. I have a 2010 with th Michelin Lattitude HP and am very satisfied,I had used the LTX on a previous Jeep with great mileage and grip in snow.I took Dunlop Grand trek St 8000 off of my Touareg, the noise was outrageous, sounded like a bad wheel bearing and replaced with Michelin lattitudes, great ride and quiet ,Have a suburban with Michelins, good tires,Marty

  3. 2101 Edge limited

While changing the oil,12500 miles(every 2500 miles),I decided to open the lower drain plug on the tranny, slowly so I was sure it was tranny fluid, after drain I replaced plug and refilled with Motorcraft Mercon LV fluid 4.5 quarts that brought the level to mid point on the dip stick, warm.Marty

  4. I installed Hoen Digital Xen system,No capacitors or resistors required,Have a 2010 limited with auto head lamp control,no problems easy plug and play, comes with ty wraps and shrink tubing for lamp socket connection,Marty

Also came with a free pair of yellow fog lamps.

  5. Try using a 12 volt test lamp (with the sharp probe) in series with either battery cable a light will mean a current draw,no light all clear, you can leave it on and disconnect things to make the light go out and find the problem, you can also use a multi meter set on low amps or more sensitive volts, good luck Marty

  6. Sorry I can't copy and paste the chart. 2oz for the condensor,Marty

    Refrigerant Oil Adding

NOTICE: During normal Air Conditioning (A/C) operation, oil is circulated through the system with the refrigerant, and a small amount is retained in each component. If certain components of the system are removed, some of the refrigerant oil will go with the component. To maintain the original total oil charge, it is necessary to compensate for the oil lost by adding oil to the system with the new part.

    1. Refer to the chart below for refrigerant oil adding amounts and methods of installation.

  7. I just installed HOEN Xensystem 35 watt Digital HID kits, very easy plug and play,no resistors, capacitors, relays and they work perfectly. Super white light with a touch of blue,4300 K kits came with velcro mounting pads,ty-wraps,shrink tubing to cover 12volt connections,a free set of Endurance yellow lamps for fog lights, cost was $149. plus $8 for freight(priority) ,also has a 3 yr warranty on lamps and ballasts,Marty

  8. Unless a component is changed oil doesn't have to be added,(dryer, evap, condensor, compressor)unless a major leak has occured.Too much oil is no good as it changes the volume of gas in the system and could also damage the compressor valve plates. Marty

  9. I have an oil extractor that I made from a 1/4 hp close coupled Oberdorfer condensate pump, they were used on small Hot Shot electric steam generators,100 psi,the pumps were used for adding water to the boiler.I have updated the hoses on the pump to those good for pressure and vacuum, the ends have quick couplers so I can change the nylon hose wands for different size applications. One end connects to a 5 gallon plastic bottle so I can monitor the amount extracted.I have pumped tranny's prior to dropping the pan without all the oil spillage. In 1979 I built an adapter for My 300CD ,and 1980 300SD the dipstick tube is tulip shaped and goes to the bottom. After pumping I opened the drain plug to get out the last drop as a test,I have used on my Touareg to change oil, power steering fluid and even have a spare pump just for antifreeze.Using an oil extractor properly should get all of the oil and sludge,Marty

I have looked at several Fumoto and Fram drain valves but always had a feeling that something would hit it ,break it or open it so I never used one.

    # Drive carefully at all times, and if you run over any foreign object on the road pull over and check the valve for any damage or leak.

  10. Flasher sequence as to speed are load related, flashers are load specific, for 2 lamps,3 lamps, etc, if one filament burns out or breaks the sequence speed increases to tell you a lamp is out, some were designed to stop flashing if the load was not correct but SAE changed specs so that any left would flash, heavy duty 5-12 lamp flashers for larger applications are not load specific,Marty

  11. Are you telling us that the Edge is the only car you've ever driven that picks up outside odors?

Well you must be driving cars with no ventilation because I've smelled outside odors in every car I've driven.

I am not saying that the Edge is the only car that picks up outside air odors, but it is very sensitive to the outside air,my Touareg has a sensor that switches to recirculate when offensive odors are detected and switches to recirculate when you put the car into reverse. It may be the way the air is distributed in the EDGE,Marty
