  1. I have just come across a set of wheels for a great price.

The distributor says they'll fit but I thought I'd ask the experts first.

    Wheel is.. 22x10

    Offset: 40mm Backspacing: 7.08" Bolt Pattern: 5-114

    Recommended tire size is 265/35/22

    Questions...

    The Edge Sport has 265/40/22's

Shouldn't this be the size i should get even though the aftermarket wheel is wider?

Will these wheels (in either tire size) rub?

Will they rub if I chose to lower with H&R springs?

(1.75" in front and 1.5" rear)

Also what is the weight of the stock Edge 20" clad wheel?

    TIA

  2. The cheap chrome plastic wheels was one reason why I walked out on a deal on 2009 demo, It only had 4000km (2500mi) and the wheels were all marked up. So I walked across the road and bought a 09 Honda Ridgeline instead. Too bad I never seen the advertisement on TV tell after I got home from Toronto (take the ford test drive), I would of walked back over and got my $100 from them.

That wouldnt be the first demo car with a scratch on it.

Demo's are obviously ridden hard. I'd stay away from those and fleet cars.

Before I ordered my 2010 I called a local dealer that had a left over 09 and was

told that the sales managers wife was currently driving it but if I scheduled a time to

come in they'd "try" to have the car there for me to look at. HAHA!

  3. Here are the wheels H&R put on their Edge.

    20x10 OZ Giotti's with 295/30/22 tire.

    Steeda is selling these 22 x 9.5 Diamo 39 Karat Wheel's.

Unfortunately it looks like there are not a lot of wheel choices unless you go with a custom wheel which means they're going to be pricey.

  4. I still think you are overblowing the hazzards true chrome wheels present. I have had wheel lip corrosion on aluminum wheels as well as chrome wheels in the past. It has always resulted in a slow leak that was cured by cleaning the inside of the wheel. I have never had a wheel go flat or blow out because of this problem.

I have, my father has, and a friend of mine has...

Pontiac Formula, Mitsu 3000GT, Cadillac sedan Deville.

Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

This is my last response in this thread.

I can't believe the negativity and closed-minded people in here.

  5. It is more so a matter of opinion.

I have zero experience with Ford's chrome clad but I do have experience with

real chrome, polished, GM chrome clad, and Chrysler chrome clad. IMO aesthetic

issues are not as bad as corrosion which may lead to air pressure loss.

You might want corroding metal over peeling plastic.

That's fine. I just think the plastic is the lessor of the two evils.

IMO Ford needs to find an alternative so buyers don't need to deal with either.

Chances are I too will be changing them out in the future for a wheel more

    suitable to my taste.

  6. Maybe you missed my post, but the fact of the matter is, Ford has done a terrible job with these chrome clad wheels. They are prone to bubbling and flacking of the chrome, as well as a brassing defect near the hubs.

My last post was not responding to you so no I did not miss your post.

I'd rather have aesthetic damage then having to worry about loss in tire pressure and blow outs.

  7. LOL. This is the craziest thing I've read in days. "I got a flat tire because of chrome wheels." "Plastic painted like chrome will last longer than real chrome."

I'm not biased either, I'm changing out the real chrome wheels my car came with for some polished aluminum... Chrome clad has some benefits, like fuel economy and it eats up less brakes. But not the stuff you're talking about.

I don't see how it's crazy when corrosion on the inside of the wheel from the chrome could cause a poor seal and lead to loss in air pressure and flat tires.

Also if you live where there is snow there will be a greater chance that the salt used on the roads will cause premature pitting and corrosion on a chrome wheel.

I guess facts are crazy. :banghead:

  8. Hey all. I'm looking for some 20"chrome or silver wheels to replace the God awful plastic chrome sh**, also some sleek runing boards.

Does anyoneknow if the Lincoln grill fits the Edge?

    thanks, Barry

The chrome clad wheels are actually better than real chrome.

They won't pit and peel like real chrome so they'll last longer.

Also the real chrome with expand and contract do to changes in temperature

which could lead to the loss of air pressure and even flat tires.

This is the reason I chose to go with the chrome clad wheels.

If by some reason I choose to change my wheels I will definitely not be buying chrome.

Silver is a great option for any color Edge.

Westin does make running boards for the 07-09 but im not sure if it will fit the 2010's.

    My guess is they should.

As far as the grille I have no idea if the Lincoln one fits but Ford does have several different colors optioned for the stock grille. Look here. http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/GfaWeb...10~9T4Z_8200_AE

Personally i'd like to see what the Tuxedo black grille looks like.
