  1. Maybe I missed it searching, but I couldn't find my answer so I am asking for help.

2008 Ford Edge LTD with navigation. The dealer gave me the 09 update CD awhile back, but a lot has changed in 5+ years.

Looking on ebay and other sites all the new updates appear to be on a SD card. My car doesn't have a SD card slot that I know of, just a USB drive. I called the dealer to see if they have a CD to update the maps to 2014 ones and they had no idea and couldn't find any info. The parts guy took my name and number - we'll see if he calls back.

In the meantime, what have other owners of older navigation systems done to update their OEM system? Not interested in the "get a Garmin" answer.

    Thanks!

  2. There was a service bulletin on the 20inch chrome cladders regarding noise coming from them at driving speeds. I received 4 new ones for free from my dealership.

Unfortunately, the wife curbed one and I curbed the second. So, my 20 in chrome clads look like crap. The chrome peeled off and the plastic (whitish grey) is visible. The worst thing? I can't find anyplace to repair them, and am not going to buy new wheels.

I am 100% happy with my Edge. I am 0% happy with the chrome clads. What a joke.

My 03 MR2 Spyder...the first and last non Ford that I will buy. A great enthusiasts car, but I HATE Toyotas - generally over priced and underpowered...nothing compared to the bang for the buck of my Spyder back in 03 though...

  4. Do you share the vehicle with a spouse/someone else? Perhaps they programmed the seat first?

You should have two keys. From the way I understand it, whatever the first setting programmed in with a particular key becomes the default setting. So, if you could reset the defaults, and reprogram it, you'd be fine. Check the owners manual.

  5. No - problem solved! I am grateful that I got 4 new ones no questions asked...awesome customer service by my dealer.

But a new problem arises...the :censored: wife decided to scrape up the front passenger side wheel by hitting a concrete barrier while parking. I could cry... :hysterical::banghead::rant:

  6. Ford has a service bulletin out on the 20 inch chrome clad wheels. I took my car in and complained that I was hearing a rattling sound out of all four wheels. My tech ordered me four new wheels and switched my tires over for nothing.

Unfortunately tonight, about 3 months later, my wife hit a curb while parking and tore up the front passenger side wheel.

I love how they look, but the chrome clad, which allegedly cannot be fixed, is a nightmare once they get scratched. :banghead:

Also see this thread for info:

  7. Took my car in today and they ordered four new wheels for me - I hope this solves the problem! The tech said that it should as the wheels were redesigned - any feedback from anyone with the new wheels?

    :happy feet:

  8. I have got a similiar size boat in the same weight bracket and tow it up to 200 miles every other weekend to a fishing spot. The ramps of some are fairly minor to very steep and in one case we launched off the shore (semi compacted sand) and have not encountered any problems. My 2008 Edge has the tow package, 20 inch wheels and is AWD. I feather the throttle (while holding the brake pedel down intially to prevent roll back) and have never yet had a problem with pulling the boat out. My brother who typically uses a GMC 4WD pick up to tow and launch, tried the Edge and felt it

pulled as well as his truck up the ramp. One note: the front tires will slip slightly occasionally when initally pulling away but after the AWD kicks in no spin, no problem. Post a picture of your boat and Edge if you get a chance.

So with a FWD 08 Edge with the tow package I can expect some minor slipping based on the slope of the ramp? Anyone towing with the FWD?

  9. I've owned 10 cars - 9 Ford products and 1 Toyota. The only trouble maker car? The Toyota! New transmission, ECU, water pump, timing belt tensioners, radio...all before the warranty ran out.

The real question is...IS IT SAFE TO BUY FOREIGN???

    08 Edge LTD

03 Toyota MR2 Spyder - the trouble maker

Wifes car - 05 Honda Accord - (vanilla as they come - no soul)

  10. I contacted Ford dealer and service can run your VIN and provide your vehicle build-out. In addition, you can get vehicle history of warranty work, recalls, etc.

Plus if you contact Ford's customer service, an attendent can provide you with a very lengthy website link so you can download and print your original monroney label.

    Dale

This is true, but there used to be a department at Ford that you could send your VIN to and they would print you out an official build sheet on Ford letterhead containing the specifics of your car, and then send it to you in the mail. I had one done in the 90s on my TBird TurboCoupe...

  11. Same here... 4200 miles on our 2008 Limited BAMR W/20's. On our longest highway trip to date 2.5 hours we saw 21MPG. Hoping that the engine breaks in further and gives up better mileage

I have the same car - bought in on Sept 3 of this year (2009) brand new with 40 miles on it. I am now at 1400 miles and haven't done better than 20mpg.
