  1. Getting back to gas mileage. I just got my 2008 (used car from Enterprise Auto Sales) so it is early. But it looks to be about 19.5 in mixed driving - but with most about town and some with the AC unit running as the defroster was on a lot from the mist of all this rain we are getting. It seems that the best approach is really let the car do the job and not the gas pedal. The weight going down hills, the pull of it. I have also been listening to the 6 speed tranny and avoiding things that make it drop to a lower gear.
  2. This is not an unusual issue with many cars. My Mom's Park Avenue gets it really bad. I used to think my eyes were going until she talked about it. In general, light colored and shiny dash board tops are the worst. It was actually a factor in my car shopping. But as others have mentioned - the angle of the person and the light source is very key. I was test driving a Freestyle once at night and when I went under one of the super bright lights in the dealer lot the dash momentarily reflected so bad it was a bad obscurring event. ArmorAll does sell a protectorant that dulls the dash and absorbs some light - that may help. The product has been out since the mid 90s as the problem is so common. Possibly as newer cars were more raked in the windshield for wind resistance. Some mini-vans are real real bad! If the problem is new to you - it is because you are now in a vehicle where all the angles are just wrong. So, just try some of the ideas people mentioned and also maybe adjust the seat. 2-cents - Ziggy -
  3. Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. I suspect that the mush is more by design than something wrong. If you are also getting the same feeling then so be it. Some Ford products are that way regrets. I test drove a Focus a few years ago and it was like that. On the other hand I test drove the Freestyle, Taurus X - they were nice and tight. My older Probe and Ranger were tight to. So I suspect it was some choice made by the design teams. I wish Ford would stop the practice. So, no adjustments I guess. I suspect starting to change power assit units and all would be highly dangerous. So - just need to learn to live wityh it. Otherwise - nice car! - Ziggy -
  4. I was wondering about the brakes on my 2008 SEL. The pedal feels real mushy. I think more by design than anything broke. I drove a Focus like this once. On the other hand the Taurus X does not have that feel. The car stops plenty fine. But you need push the brake pedal in really far. I prefer a tighter feel. Is there an adjustment for this? Thanx, - Ziggy -
  5. Greetings! I always wanted an Edge. We just got a 2008 SEL AWD, metalic red and black interior. It is the wife's car but i get to drive it some :-) I am looking forward to this machine! - Ziggy -
