  1. I picked up a solid 1mpg more with the sole addition of a K&N filter and removal of airbox snorkel. It is actually 1.3 mpg increase but I went with 1mpg to account for variables out of my control. Just thought I would share my great news. BTW, I will end up saving almost $200 a year if god forbid, gas stays at $4 a gallon ! Happy Motoring !

  2. You can run an H9 in the housing designed for an H11 until the headlight housing or connectors melt. Putco mirror white which are a true 55w bulb same as stock and not a bulb that runs higher wattage to increase brightness. Also, if your SJB...(smart junction box) goes because of the H9's it WILL NOT be covered under warranty but you could always pop the stockers in before service. Bottom line, do what you want, but I personally would not recommend it.

  3. Could be a pully mis-alignment on the alternator, a/c compressor etc. Remove the belt and remove the belt tensioner and try lubing the tensioner itself. This is a shot in a dark but I would definitely take it in for service so it at least gets documented incase something else goes because of the belt issue. It may also be a pully bearing that's squeaking which can be identified when the squeaking is occuring with a mechanics stethoscope. Keep us posted how it goes brotha !

  4. I guess the computer mileage going up a steady 1.3mpg is all in my head or as you say in my dreams. If you don't want to save money, than by all means, don't. Like I have said, I would not have believed it of not seeing for myself. Thanks for your logical and reasoning input flyer.

  5. Sounds like a serpentine belt issue. Leave it at the dealers overnight and have them start it up in the morning. I suggest you be there because if not the techs won't hear anything........and if your there and they hear it they will tell you it's normal. Good Luck !

  6. happens sometimes if you throw in sharp turning, low idle, etc it just stalls out. it happens on some vehicles. its a PITA but not really a big deal i dont think

I never had any vehicle I owned ever stall on me. I think it would be a big deal especially on a brand new car !

  7. Had the silverstar H11's and one burned out in 8 months. I now run the Putco brand H11 in mirror white. These have a much whiter light with slight blue tint. Very similiar to HID in color but not as bright of course. They are available on www.autobarn.net for $30.00. These are far superior to silverstars and cost less too. On a side note, I run silverstar ultras on my 'stang and they have been going strong for 2 years now. Switching to H9's might produce too much heat and burn out very quickly. For some reason with this pulsed electrical system, the headlights are very tempermental to other bulbs that are not rated @ 55w.

  8. IN THE MIDDLE SEAT, THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE IS IN A VERY AKWARD LOCATION. i HAVE 3 CHILDREN IN BOOSTER SEATS, AND YOU HAVE TO HAVE MIDDLE CHILD IN FIRST WHERE SEAT BELT IS LOCATED UNDER (NOT BESIDE) BOOSTER SEAT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHERE THE PRESSURE AND WEIGHT OF THE CHILD IS DIRECTLY ON THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. WHEN AN ADULT IS BACK THERE, IT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT FOR YOURSELVES, AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. AM I CRAZY? THANKS

Didn't Mommy teach you to use your "indoor voice"......?

  9. Hey Tomsack, if this is temporary for your trip you could always go to pep boys, autozone...etc. and buy the transparent amber color tape and cut it to fit the outside of the lens to give the illusion of amber color signals......I know this is as ghetto as it gets, but It is just another idea/solution to your dilemma. I know the stop lights and turn signals run off the dual filament but you may be able to make it work.ma.

  10. Some link assemblies were machined wrong which was the main culprit for all these bearing failures with as little as 16,000 miles on the odo. Improperly machined link faces which is what the bearing hub assembly is bolted to, can also cause alignment issues. I thought this problem was taken care of in '08 but apparently "quality is job# 2" or they were manufactured on either Monday or Friday afternoon.

  11. I picked up a solid 1mpg after installing a K&N filter and removing air snorkle. I now get 20mpg. Let's say the tank holds 20 gallons. With the additional 1mpg.......that is 20 more miles I can travel befor fueling up. Say I fill up 4 times a month....that is an additional 80 miles of travel per month after installing the K&N. Gas is $4 a gallon so that is $4 less per fill up so that equates to $16 savings a month ! Running the K&N...!So in 4 months I would have saved $64 worth of gas !!! So to conclude, the K&N has paid for itself in 4 months, doesn't have to be cleaned until 50,000 miles and will last the life of the car ! I will save $192 a year using a K&N filter ...!!!!! To me, this mod is an utter and absolute no brainer. I hope you all can follow my math.....it was never my strong suit. BTW, when I say a solid 1 mpg it is actually 1.3 mpg but using 1 made the math much simpler. Do yourself a favor and buy a K&N ! Aside from the money I save, the car runs smoother and has more torque that you can feel on the SOTP meter !

  12. I totally agree with your WOT theory.....you are absolutely corrct. Considering I just installed a CAI , 75mm TB ported intake elbow and TB spacer on my mustang, yes I have "seen" a TB. Bottom line: I improved my MPG's by 1.3 by installing a K&N filter. Some will see gains some will see losses. All I know is what I observed and I am more than happy with the results.

  13. Engine works harde you gain more mpg's......engine breathing and efficiency are increased yet you get no gain in mpg's. I simply cannot follow your logic akirby. Maybe I can put it in a better prospective for you......try running a mile with normal breathing and then try running a mile breathing through a straw...which is going to yield more efficient results...? May I ask akirby why you are so deadset against using a K&N on your Edge ?

  14. I apologize, I must have mis-read your post. I think it would also be nice for the passenger door to unlock all the doors. Especially when I dump the wife off at the front of the grocery store and she gets out and has to open the rear door to grab her purse and god knows what else.....I always get the sound of the handle pull followed by a very loud "C'mon !!!! Then I proceed to hit the lock button making her think the door is open only for her to find it is not. She caught on quick to this as she knows the sound difference of lock/unlock. And yes, she reminds me daily that I am a real asshole.

  15. All I know is that I was between 18.7 and 18.9 rarely hitting the 19 mark. After install of K&N I am hitting 19.8 to 20.1 consistently. This is why I stated a solid 1 mpg in my explanation. I can't rule out the gas thing and the weather was fairly consistent from high 30's to low 40's at night and around mid 50's daytime. I will never go back to a paper filter.

I don't think they switch from winter blend to summer in march but I could be wrong.

  16. www.rockauto.com has great prices on shocks. Replacing shocks that soon is ridiculous IMHO. I would stick with the stock motorcraft shocks as these are tuned to the spring rates of the stock springs. Another tip for those who want to lower your edge about 3/4" is to remove the spring isolators. These are the stiff rubber pieces that the springs sit on. May make ride a little stiffer.
