  1. Unbelieveable. I would write a letter (with pictures) and send it to the Ford CEO. Copy your local congressman and senator. Copy Stars and Stripes. Make a stink....absolutely unacceptable. You deserve a new vehicle on an expedited basis.

This is wierd, the Edge and MKX have the best paint of any Ford or Lincoln product that I have seen in 10 years.

I have seen this a few times now and always with black paint. My bodyshop manager has been warning me about the oncoming water based paints that Ford and everyone else is mandated to use by the government and their environmental laws. In our case we have claimed warranty and had our bodyshop re spray the affected area's. BMW and Porsche use water based paint so a German painter should have no problem.

  2. I believe I was the poster that Jammers mentioned that I used my old Escape (2005) head rests in place of the Edge ones. I had to return that vehicle along with the head rests so I went to a local OEM manufacturer here in Vancouver and they "modified" them for me.

I have a tall torso and I pretty much use the same seating position that I use in my race car and the stock head rest was forcing my neck forward so bad that I almost wanted to give the Edge back to Ford. What pissed me off a little was that I test drove an SEL+ with the old, smaller headrest, which was perfect. I even tried to order a set from Ford but after they got that 5-star crash rating they would no longer supply them.

A nice feature would be an adjustable rake head rest so that we can all fit naturally.

    My $0.02 worth.

  3. For less than $150 you can have a set of braided stainless steel lines made up for your Edge. They provide a great improvement on the rubber hoses which stretch under the hydraulic pressure of heavy braking.

I have those on my race car, along with a pretty incredible brake system. I have considered flushing the system myself and using the same Motul brake fluid I race with but through time I have found the problem to be intermittent on my Edge, which is frustrating and hard to pin point the cause.

Thanks for the feedback. Other than this issue, it has been a fine vehicle.

  4. I got my Edge AWD last May and I have got a very soft brake pedal, so much so that sometimes I need to pump to get a solid feel again. The dealer flushed the fluid once and it was cured but it has now returned. My neighbor who got his at the same time has never had this issue. Do of any of you experience this?

  5. Thanx Dilgen, if the wife ever lets me drive it again, I'll try that.

I too have an issue with the headrests, or restraints. Before I placed my factory order I spent a couple of days testing one with the first generation headrests and of course my Edge arrived with the new phucking ones and they are a major scource of irritation. I have tried to adjust my seating position to accomodate them but I am not sure if this will be a long term solution, especially on long trips.

What Ford should have done was make the angle adjustable, just like a Jaguar. Fortunately, here in Vancouver we have an OEM seat maker who can make the corrections for me and they estimate they have done 25% of the Edges sold here in Vancouver already. Funny thing is I substituted my '05 Escape headrests and that was sweet, until I had to give back the Escape.

My Edge, not withstanding the head rest issue, is outstanding and for the money, way ahead of everything in it's class.
