  1. Most disappointing to me:

    • Front Ford emblem isn't very durable....I've had it peel off in more than one Ford vehicle.
    • Sync 3 system -- You'd think, after all these years Ford has had to get it right, it still has some serious issues. (WiFi update, anyone?).
    • Like others have said, fold flat rear seats are needed.
    • I miss real fog lights...at least make them an option.
    • Bring back the full width rear tail lights. Sorry to see them go.
    • If we're paying for certain colors, at least make them more resistant to chips.
  2. Well, I might have outfoxed myself!

I was holding off purchasing a 2017 Edge Titanium, thinking Ford would increase the rebates a bit today. Instead, they went the opposite way!

Yesterday the rebates were $3750 (plus $500 military) on the Edge.

Today, I only see a $500 rebate on them. It does look like the financing changed to offer 0% 60 months, but that's not as good a deal as before.

  3. Howdy!

I am getting a new car at the end of this month and I am having a hard time making a decision. I am deciding between the 2007 Ford Edge SEL FWD and the 2007 Nissan Murano SL FWD.

I have been comparing the two and I was wondering what information many of yall could provide me with. I like that the Edge has many standard features such as the keyless entry, seat memory settings, and heated seats (not too much of added plus here in Texas..ha ha). But the Murano has adjustable petals (which is nice since I am only 5'1") and a really nice information screen.

After reading reviews and many threads on this forum I am concerend about a few things with the Egde. I have seen many complaints about the gas mileage, wiper system, vista roof, transmission, and more. I was hoping some of my fears could be put to rest so I can finally decide on a car. I am a college student graduating in May so I would like a reliable car so I don't have to pay for too many repairs.

I am excited about being a part of this site and open to all opinions you can give me!!

My wife and I traded our 2005 Murano SL AWD for a 2007 AWD SEL+ Ford Edge back in May, and we love our Edge. With just about all the options available, including navigation, the Edge is hard to beat.

We really grew to wonder not IF our Murano was going to "act up"...but WHEN. The biggest problem we had with it was that, over 10 times, it simply refused to go into Park after arriving at our destination. Sometimes my wife would have to sit for 5 minutes or so before it would allow Park to be engaged. That, combined with interior rattles the dealer could never find, convinced us we needed to trade it for a car we could depend on....and I think we have it in our Edge.

For 2008, the Edge with the Sync option would definitely be better than whatever Nissan has in their Muranos. Combine the Sync option with the Navigation in the Edge, and you've got a great system.

And...the Edge is built in Canada....the Murano comes from Japan.

  4. Hi everyone:

Turns out the dealer screwed up my order...left out the NAV system (just got my window sticker courtesy of you!)...of course, they also added power lift and Sirius, instead...weird.

So, the floor manager tells me that the Factory installed NAV system can be done at their dealership...full functionality, full warranty, no biggie.

Is this true? Can the NAV system be installed at the Ford dealer, factory quality, hooked in with he speakers and SYNC and everything? I do want to get what I pay for.

    Thanks!

You'd better verify with your dealer that they are going to install a FACTORY nav system. On my 2007 F-150, they THOUGHT they could do this, but later found out they couldn't. I'd also verify the system they install will mate with the Sync system....and that the steering wheel controls are the same.

  5. Do a web search. there are companies that make a module you plug into to the NAV unit that does asway with the disclaimer and can unlock other features. I saw one on Spike TV show a few months ago where they were overriding a Toyota NAV unit

I did a quick web search, but could not find a module for our Ford Edges (or any Ford, for that matter). There is a company selling modules that interface with Lexus, Toyota, BMW, Cadillac, and Honda....

If you do run across that web page sometime, could you drop a link in here?

    Thanks!

  6. Funny in a "Ha-Ha" kind of way.

So, if this is a serious problem, folks who have had this ought to post here. Doesn't much matter to me if Ford acknowledges it or not (though they ought to if it is an issue), I just don't want to be riding around with my newborn in a car with issues...I'd rather find and fix 'em.

Whoops...didn't mean to trip a wire with my attempt at humor.

We DO appreciate your post describing your problem. And...we'd love to know what the service department has to say about it.

  7. Yeeech! Even worse than what I was picturing!

That would be a front wheels only lockup in the case of us FWD owners!

I was imagining an ABS issue locking down all four corners.

Either way a full-on lockup at highway speeds would result in an uncontrollable situation... and the way people drive around here would probably also mean a major real-world test of the safety features I'm so proud of.

I'd much rather see such a test on TV than in person.

I think it's safe to say we all want to know what caused this. asap.

I, for one, think we should all park our Edge until this problem is resolved. :)

And for those of you who are too scared to drive yours, please let me know your address and I'll ride my bike over to take that awful lemon off your hands....:)

  8. Have a second question regarding the Audiophile system.

My current XM display is very crisp with Channel Number, Song Title, and finally Artist info. I don't know how many times when I drive, I hear a song I like and I get both the song name and artist.

On the stock picture in the 2008 brochure, the Audiophile stock head unit shows a single line of text. Do you get both Song and Artist name to scroll by on this? What exactly do you see?

Our 2007 SEL+ with the nav system shows two lines of text...song title and artist. I would suspect the same is true of the 2008 model with the nav system.

My 2007 F-150 audiophile has the display you mentioned...one line of text...no automatic scrolling. Pretty lame display, IMO..I'll probably change the head unit out for a Kenwood 7100 nav system next year.

  9. I read up a bunch about all-weather (rubber) floor mats on this forum. Now that there's a new slew of 2008 owners on here I was curious as to what mats you'd all be purchasing to protect ur Edge from the upcoming winter season. I am tossed up between the Ford branded mats for the front and back seats and the weathertech liners. Can anybody offer differences between the two besides the price? (weathertech costs more) I will be purchasing the weathertech liner for the trunk/cargo floor because I've heard good things and Ford doesn't offer a mat through them.

    Thanks!

I bought the Weathertech FloorLiners for our Edge...front and back seats. They cover more of the floor area than the Ford all weather mats...seem better designed (to me, anyway).

For the back, I purchased the Ford cargo area mat (not Weathertech)...costs around the same as the Weathertech...maybe a bit cheaper. But it looks good, has Edge embossed into it, and is very substantial in terms of thickness. It's only available in black...not a problem with our black interior.

  10. So I picked up my Black SEL+ AWD yesterday at noon. Since then, I've put about 75 miles on it and thus far, I LOVE IT!

    Some observations;

It doesn't really seem like 260+ HP and I'm a little dissapointed in the "get up". Mostly from a stand-still... It does have some nice passing gears and once the RPM's are up, she has good torque. I've been driving a Taurus with the Duratec 24V engine for the past few years and it seems comparable in power to that.

Compared to the Murano we traded in, our Edge seems to have just as much pep, if not more.

Wish it had auto up windows but instead, just a drivers side auto down.

I believe the auto up windows are available for the '08 model. Can't understand why they were left out of the '07, though.

I didn't notice ANY glare even though I read much about that over the past couple of weeks.

Our black Edge with the black interior doesn't suffer from glare, either. I think it's a problem with the lighter color interiors.

Very comfortable and extremely quiet. Nice ride for a shorter wheelbase vehicle and not choppy at all.

It has an AMAZING turning radius.

    Agree!

    Premium sound system is sweet!

If a rear window is lowered more than half way with the front windows up and Vista roof closed, there's a real disturbing sound that is REALLY irriatating! Somebody try it and let me know if you find the same...

This has been commented on by many others....really no fix for it unless you open more windows.

The kids LOVE the reclining rear seats and their own sunroof.

I didn't realize it had lights under the side mirrors and it looks pretty cool at night when parked and lit up.

Being a "premium vehicle" IMO, I would have liked to have seen signal lights on the side mirrors as a safety feature. Even my wifes '03 Beetle convertible has 'em...

I think Ford should have included them as well...could be something that's on the Lincoln model?

Oh... and it gets LOTS of looks! Good on the ego ya know... :hysterical:

We've had folks stop us at gas stations and parking lots asking about our Edge. Never have had that many comments on any other car we've owned.

All in all, it has lived up to my expectations early on and I got up at 7am (on a Sunday morning) just to take it out for a drive... :shift: :hyper: ... I know... I'm a bit strange...

    Steve

    Enjoy your new Edge....!

  11. When I purchased my 2007 Ford Edge SEL it was from Dealer Stock so I did not have theoption of which radio to choose. After a few weeks I decided to put in a Factory Ford Navigation Radio rather than go the aftermarket route.

I went on ebay and pruchased a unit which was from a 06/07 Explorer or Mountaineer, which has a Ford Part # 6L2T-18K931-BC. The Edge Ford Part #'s are 7T4T-18K931-BA and 7T4T-18K931-AG which are Premium or Audiophile units and would require no reprogramming to match the vehicle. I have seen one of these part #'s on an ebay auction. I am also attaching a PDF file that I used to help me with my radios search on ebay to make sure that I was getting the right plug configuration and mounting type.

The radio did not come with an antenna, so that was my next search. First I had to find the part # which specifically for the Edge is 7T4Z-10E893-A, although 8G1Z-10E893-A will also work. I found the antenna on Amazon.com through Troy Ford by entering in the base part # 10E893 in the search window.

The whole installation takes maybe 30 minutes and it is all plug and play. I will post pictures in the near future of the installation.

The best part about it is that all the factory items cost me less than buying a Pioneer or Kenwood Nav Radio! I am also going to change out the factory speakers with Kenwood speakers front and rear.

I hope this helps for anyone else looking to perform a similar upgrade to their Edge!

What did you pay for the factory nav unit you got off Ebay? We'd love to see some pictures before, during, and after the install if you're up to it.

  12. HI ALL I JUST GOT A NEW 07 EDGE BUILT ON 08 13 07 I GOT IT IN THE SAGE COLOR AND FOR ALL THOSE WHO SAY THERE IS NO GREEN I DO KINDA AGREE BUT THERE ACTULLY IS GREEN IN THE COLOR AND ON A NICE CLOUDY RAINEY DAY LIKE TODAY YOU CAN REALLY SEE IT BUT ANYWAY IM WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME HOW THE TRAC CONTROL BUTTON WORKS WHEN I PRESS IT NOTHING SEEMS TO CHANGS OR LITE UP OR ANYTHING I HAVE A BUTTON THE SAYS TRAC CONTROL OFF BUT IT DOES NOTHING

    Hmmm....wonder if that's in the owner's manual....???

  13. Go figure,

I called today to see what my options were, initially she told me the 'best' deal was the year for $142 and some change, then she said I qualify for a 'discount' bringing the annual subscription to $129.xx. I then said I would opt for the month to month subscritption and she said they do not offer that but since I 'qualified for the discount' I could get a quartely subscription for $27.70 ($29.27 after taxes...).obviously, this is even less than the $129.xx she offered me. I have ZERO idea what this discount was, if it is for people on the fence or people with Fords, she did NOTHING to explain it to me. Anyhow, if you are interested in re-upping your Sirius, hold out for the $27.70 quarterly subscription or even better. Keep us posted.

Sounds to me like Sirius isn't too proactive in their attempts to "lock in" new Ford vehicle buyers to their programming. If they make no attempt to contact us prior to our six month trial expiration, then just cut off the service...makes no sense to me. Oh, well....just my $0.02 worth.

  14. Hello everyone, I'm from NNJ and picked my Edge up last week... After 3 Expeditions, this thing drives like a dream. I throughly enjoy it... looking forward to learning from all of you. :shades:

Though we love our black Edge, and think it's the best color, Edgy Girl would probably agree with you about your choice of colors. )

Seriously, enjoy your Edge...most of us in here love ours!

  15. FWD with roof rails and trailer hitch and NAV along with premium sound. Just got it from the dealer as it arrived today almost 6 weeks from when I ordered it. I LOVE the Charcoal metalic with the Sand interior leather ofcourse. Sound system is as good if not better then my Nissan Maxima stereo and that's saying something. Look forward to many joyful miles. Thanks all for your input and feedback.

Enjoy your new Edge....keep us posted on your experiences!

  16. Just curious how many of you opted for AWD and how many for FWD. I chose FWD since my wife has an AWD Escape at home. Never really got stuck in 6 years with a FWD Nissan Maxima in Washington DC area weather either.

We went with the AWD on our Edge as we make trips often to MI in the winter, and always seem to get hit with heavy snowfalls while we're there. We wanted the extra traction (and security) of the AWD.

  17. :banghead: Anyone interested in purchasing a Sherwood 2751AJ dash kit for the 2007 Edge. I just received this one and it's not the right color for me and they want 15%+ shipping to return it. This one will fit all with or without digital H/ac controls 44 pcs in all in majestic Burlwood. Sherwood gets $225.00 on special I will take $175.00 and pay the shipping. :happy feet:

Not to be picky or anything....but there's a forum for Classifieds...might try that section.

  18. I just picked up my '07 AWD Edge. My dealer has been trying to locate one for me for almost a month. I really wanted the Creme Bruele but ended up with Redfire (my old car was red and was looking for a change). They had located a different red one but the dealer they were getting it from sold it. They finally found this one. The only thing it was missing was the Sat radio (they will be installing it for me in the next week or so).

I really like the ride of this car. It is extremely comfortable.

I will try to post some pics soon.

    SEL+

    AWD - Redfire

Black (or whatever Ford calls it) interior

    BAMR

    Reverse Sensing

    Audiophile

    18" wheels

    and hopefully soon Sirius

Congratulations....enjoy your new Edge! Can't wait to see some pictures of your new ride.

  19. Here are some pictures of a Kenwood DNX7100 navigation and bluetooth installation. The microphone is located in the overhead center console ( this works great for me ). The navigation receiver is mounted on the front corner of the passenger side dash ( I never notice it ). This was profesionally installed with Pac Swi steering wheel radio controls. I installed Kenwood Excelon KFC-680 6 x 8" speakers in the front doors and KFC-6880ie's in the rear doors. This is a very simple to use Nav and the audio and video controls are easier then the CNET review says. I absolutely enjoy this.

Good looking system and install. I'm looking at putting the 7100 into my new F-150!
